OOC: That was powerful. Seriously.

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge):

Tuli didn't know what to say. She was the flirting type, not someone who listened to other people's stories and gave them advice.

Ferron's story left Tuli feel... incomplete. As if there was something she had not done that she should. Even realizing what it was, deep down, Tuli decided to concentrate on the Toa and his emotional breakdown.

"I - I - I don't... I had no idea", she said. "I can only try and imagine how you feel. I - I'm so sorry for your loss."

IC: Ferron (Ferron's Forge)

"Let's leave that behind us for now" Ferron said, and grabbed the empty bottle.

"It's getting late, and there's not much left to do. So right now you're essentially free to do whatever, for what it's worth"

Ferron deposited the empty bottle and glasses in a cupboard, before he emanated a massive yawn.

OOC: Powered weapons aren't legal to make and sell, even if they aren't very high tech. You might be able to focus light from a lightstone into a crude, weak laser using lenses and mirrors and whatever, but that still wouldn't make it past the staff.

IC (Matan and Natan): Now that explained a lot. The Skakdi had heard strange tales of the slug-like creatures, and the effects they had on thier hosts, but this was the first time they had seen one.

"A powered weapon isn't really an option at the moment" Matan explained. "The Akiri keeps a close watch on thigs like that, nad he doesn't want our village's technology beeing sold out to anyone so easily. There may come a time when he relaxes the rules a bit, but until then, you'll have to stick to the crossbow. Are there any particular features you wanted?"

IC: Miraul lead his team to a hut he had found for sale. The resident De-Matoran was moving out, as industrial noise in Onu-Koro was growing well beyond tolerable levels.

Though it took most of the slim supply of widgets the team had on them, they now had a permanent home, and they immediately set to work in making it a liveable space and workshop. This De-Matoran had build extra rooms for his purposes, which were now repurposed for the Toa taking ownership over the course of a week. What had once been a quiet room was given a table for meetings. That table was given a feature that seemed odd-a removable plate that concealed thousands of tiny metal balls. The kitchen was expanded by Divan, and next to it, a metalworking space was build, complete with an anvil for Axana.

Vilak and Takamaz began a task perhaps better suited to a Toa of Earth-the digging, or melting, of a basement. This space would become a mixture of storeroom, workspace, bedrooms, with bunks to spare for four guests, and a combat training room. Even if they settled down, the team had no plans to quit being heros. Bijackal and Hikari helped them in this task, completing some of the finer details and ensuring structural stability through their knowledge of the earth.

Furniture was made from metal and crystal by Divan and Hikari. Their elemental powers were exhausted after several days of hard work, and it was deemed in their best interest to rest for a while before they opened the forge. After a few days they found themselves ready to open the forge. Hikari completed a lightstone sign embedded in a metal plate to advertise above the building. Miraul posted more of these throughout the village at popular spots, visible even the darkened village from quite some distance.

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge):

Ordinarily Tuli would have liked to use the free opportunity to explore or go to the nearest pub, but she had experienced a lot during the last few days.

"I think I will try to get some sleep", she said, heading for the small room Ferron had agreed to lend to her. "I will find my own place soon enough, when I have the money."

Before she closed the door (if there is one) she turned back at Ferron and said: "Thank you, Ferron."

IC: Ferron (Ferron's Forge)

The night went by without a lot of incidents. Both Ferron and, he presumed, Tuli, got a well deserved rest.

As the Fe-Toa woke up to the neverending whirrs and clanks that now emanated from Onu-Koro on a daily basis, he found himself feeling very comfortable with how things were going.

A big cup of something that wasn't alcoholic for once was lightly cradled in the Fe-Toa's hand as he sat by the window, looking out at the streets before him.

Life was good.

OOC: I assume Ferron waking up means morning. In this game it's sometimes hard to tell.

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge):

In the evening, Tuli spent some time to the room she had been given before trying to sleep. Her mind was filled with all the revelations of this day. She thought about Ta-Koro, the incident with the guards, Khervos, Jaller's lecture and finally her resignation. She admitted to herself she felt a bit guilty for more than one of those things. Also, she could not ignore Ferron's life story in her mind. It carried a meaning, after all.

Tuli fell asleep while being deep in thought.

*

The next morning Tuli woke up quite late - not surprising, really. She had gone through a lot of stress. The new environment confused Tuli. Her biological clock told her it was morning, but it was still dark everywhere. That is what you get when you live underground. Tuli would have a hard time adjusting to this change.

Eventually she came out of her room and saw Ferron staring outside.

"Good morning", she said in a friendly tone. "Enjoying the scenery?"

OOC: BZPtime and whatnot.

IC: Ferron (Ferron's Forge)

"For what it's worth"

The sentence had formed in Ferron's mind in a fraction of a second and he opened his mouth to enunciate the words, but then he stopped.

It was strange, but somehow, the pessimism that had he'd been stuck with for so long was slowly, but surely loosening its grip every day. It had started back when he first met Krell and Zuriana. He had established a connection with the two of them, and he'd enjoyed his time with them. When Krell died, Ferron hadn't felt the same hopelessness that he'd done when his original Toa team had been killed off right in front of him. Mainly this was because he'd actually managed to do something about it. They'd fought that monster Kuhrin, and Ferron had given him a broken hand for the trouble. He'd fought beside Krell, and when the young Toa of Blackfire had decided to meet his end with pride, Ferron could do nothing but respect that, and say his goodbyes.

Somehow, this experience, along with his subsequent rediscovery of his love for engineering and blacksmithing, had somehow begun reverting Ferron back to his older self. Where once there was a grizzled, no-nonsense Fe-Toa with a bit of a cruel streak, a curios inventor who always had a smile and a helping hand at the ready was slowly making his way back from the black depths of Ferron's consciousness where he'd been hiding all this time.

Granted, he would never completely be his old self again, but a middle ground was something he could definitely live with.

Ferron looked over at the small statue of his friend that he'd made, one of a pair. All the details of Krell were perfectly represented in reddish-brown steel. The noble Garai, the clawed hand, even the tail.

"Kindred spirits, brother" he mumbled to himself, he then proceeded to answer Tuli's question.

"Yeah, very much so"

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge):

Tuli wasn't sure exactly how much was going on in Ferron's mind, but it seemed like a lot. Deciding to get to the point quickly in case he wanted time for himself, Tuli said: "Eh, I was thinking about looking for a hut today where I could permanently settle. I will pay for it one portion at a time as I get payment for this job... do we have any established work hours here?"

IC Kirgan

(Onu-Koro):

Kirgan woke up and started preparing for work. At the same time, though, he thought about the tablet he had found. There was definately some story behind it, if only he could figure out how to read it. He wondered if perhaps he could find a Toa or Turaga wearing a Rau somewhere who could translate the text. For now, though, he was due to work.

Taking his pack and pickaxe, Kirgan proceeded to enter the Marn Tunnels.

OOC: Kirgan is open for interaction.

"In Onu-Koro, things go in cycles, a cycle of work, and a cycle of rest, about equal to night and day. Since I run a personal business, I'm allowed to fit that as I want personally. Obviously, I live here, so I'm technically at work all the time, but as for you, could you be satisfied with, say... a seven hour day"

IC Tuli

(Onu-Koro, Ferron's Forge):

"Thanks", Tuli said. "I won't be gone for long."

Onu-Koro was full of life already. Miners were entering the mines as a stream, inventors were already busy with their projects in their huts, lonely Turaga were standing by bridges etc.

Tuli's search for a hut started from a real-estate agency, where the friendly Onu-Matoran immediately found her a suitable spot not too far from Ferron's Forge. As she was taken to see the place, Tuli saw it was not a large one, but more than sufficient for one Matoran to live in. Besides, she had left most of her belongings in Ta-Koro anyway, so this would do just fine.

The price wasn't shocking either. Although Tuli didn't have that money at the moment, she would be able to pay it off soon enough with her work in the forge. Deals were made, contracts signed and handshakes shared. Tuli felt like a new person. She had a home, a job which would enable her to pay for it soon and a lot of opportunities as she could spot many Matoran wandering the city that might one day become her friends.

With a smile shining on her Rau, Tuli started her trip back to the forge.

"Aaaaand, there"

Ferron grabbed the prototype and lifted up in his arms. The prototype enhanced repeating crossbow was finished, now he just need to test it.

"I think I know the perfect woman for the job" Ferron thought to himself with a smirk

It was time. It was the point of fracture now, where the first events would start to take their toll on the island. Unity would crumble under he face of fear and doubt. It was time to bring them to a boiling point, and perhaps even to war with each other. With this first action, they would push the limits on how much strain the island could take, and cause sides to be taken, preparations to be made. They were going to set off a chain of events that could scatter in several ways, but there was one certainty that loomed over the roads ahead. Trust would be gone.

He took the first few steps out from the darkness, heading towards the light at the entrance of the alleyway. He could feel a slight nervousness traveling through him, as he knew he had one of the most dangerous parts of the plan. Jaller would easily be the most heavily guarded, there was little chance that an assassin would be able to reach him and make it out unscathed. But of course, that wasn't part of this plan at all. He was here to challenge Jaller's life, be it victory or failure, while the other members of NEX struck their targets. It would be nice if the fire village leader did in fact die in the coming events, but that seemed rather unlikely to occur. Nonetheless, he was certainly not going to hold back any punches.

"It is time for us to depart. When you are ready, I shall give you the supplies you all shall need. You may bring anything else that you see fit to carry with you, though I must remind that this will be about speed and efficiency. We shall all enter and leave the villages at separate times, to disconnect ourselves from each other. Try not to do anything stupid, such as being seen and not killing the witnesses, or getting yourself caught. Because if you do, you'll probably be better off dead." Was that a threat, or a warning? It was really up to each individual to decide for themselves.

"Now then, let's show this island that we are more a threat than it ever could have imagined." With that, we reached to lit end of the alleyway, leaning back against the wall. His whole demeanor seemed to change in that instant. He no longer looked to be some creature from the shadows, in the light he appeared to be much less imposing, even wrapped in his cloak. It was the way he wanted them to see him, those outside of the darkness, to see nothing more than a Toa with an overall sense of weariness to him, though the mind beneath was sharp. "Let the game begin."

Ferron turned and revealed the prototype he'd finished.

"You said you had experience in the guard, the Ta-Koro guard I'm assuming. So you must know a thing or two about weapons?"

"Yes, though this one's a bit more special, It's called a repeating crossbow, they have a rapid-fire mechanism. The Ussalry uses them quite a bit. The big problem with them, however, is that they sacrifice range for increasing firing capacity. I was trying to improve the design, and get back some of the range."

"And this here's the finished prototype"

IC: Oh, that was the other thing about Onu - the streets were a veritable maze, twisting in, out, over, under, around, and everything in between. Lekua had at least gotten somewhat accustomed to this part, but the place was still far from easy to navigate. Fortunately, though, he did know the way to one particular tunnel, an opening of modest size manned by a single ussalmatoran. He approached the guardsman, wordlessly presenting his bag for inspection. The guard seemed to find nothing out of place and waved him through. Lekua gave a brief nod of thanks and stepped into the darkness. Of course, it wasn't dark for long, a few bio again a lightstone lantern illuminated the narrow path. Four such lanterns later the tunnel branched off into two. Lekua wasted no time deciding on a path; he'd come this way many times. As far as he could figure, it was the quickest way out of the koro from his old apartment, but it lead to a place most Onu-Matoran wouldn't much care to go.About a quarter-hour later he rounded a corner and was greeted with a sudden burst blinding light. The surface. Lekua sighed in content, releasing a well of pent-up anxiety he hadn't known existed. The terrain here was rough and rocky; mountains sprang up almost immediately in every direction and disappeared just as quickly. A few scraggy bushes hugged the rocks and a lizard or two basked in the noonday sun - about the extent of the life out here. And yet to Lekua this place felt infinitely more alive than the village below. He withdrew his flute and began to play. Of course, a measure or two would have been sufficient, but he had little else to do at the moment. Cyclone had taken to roosting at the reef, which was a fair distance away. He'd be in for a considerable wait.

///

A faint screech floated through the air. Lekua looked up with a grin to see his oldest friend circling above, gently gliding toward the rocky ground. "Hey, buddy," he murmured as the kahu landed, ruffling the bird's feathers. "Ready to find the lost koro?" Cyclone clucked his agreement. Lekua vaulted into the saddle, taking a moment to examine the new disc launcher he'd attached to the saddle a week ago. He hadn't had the chance to test it out yet - not on a living target, anyway - and he wasn't particularly looking forward to doing so. He reached for the reigns and gave them a gentle tug. A few powerful wing-beats later, bird and rider were on course away from the badlands and on to the distant desert.OOC: Lekua and Cyclone to Po-Wahi.

IC: The Po-Koro trade caravan trundled into Onu-Koro, filled with goods to trade. The marketplace was soon full of Po-Matoran doing business.

:w:

IC:

Nichou was about to take the long path he remembered from his journeys with the companions when the Po-Koronan caravan came bustling in through the highway. Ussal-Driven carts hauled everything from ceramic figurines of the latest Kohlii champions to crops and other foodstuffs from it's more fertile border with Ga-Wahi. A few sentinel escorts were mounted upon Kikanalo steeds which bucked and snorted happily at getting into a less cramped cave.

In the middle of the procession came the livestock, although there were obviously fewer coming here than there were coming to the other koros. Nichou's ears were barraged with the sounds of the hoarse cries of Mahi, the squawking of husi, and the snorts of Mata Nui Cows, the dumb beasts not knowing they would soon be going be slaughtered to feed Onu-Koro's growing industrial work force. The Rahi meandered about to and fro - as far away as their leashes would let them - as the walked in the general direction of the convoy.

At the end of the march were Ussal carts hauling heavier products - Bricks of stone and clay from the finest masons of Po-koro. Among these carts were the supplies needed to maintain the trip. Sacks of grain, fruit, and also jugs filled with water were needed to survive the harsh climate that betide the trail of the Motara desert. Passengers also travelled with the heaviest load, and soon an emissary departed to see the Akiri, while several Po-Matoran spread throughout the town, plastering posters in important areas. At the very back of the pack were more kikanalo bearing Sentinels as a rear guard,

With incredible speed and precision, the salesmen set up shop in the Onu-Koro Bazaar, and soon were haggling over prices with their Onu-Koronan counterparts. Chatter such as "I'll give you two husi for that iStone" or "That disk launcher isn't worth 5 mahi you oaf!" filled the chamber, and capitalism appeared to be the victorious over paranoia this time. The recent unsettling politcal actions of Po-Koro were at the back or everyone's minds right now.

Normally, Nichu would have been in the middle of that crowd, bartering for Po-Koronan goods, but today, Nichou was on a mission. He waked past a spice and herb booth to a Po-Matoran salesman who stood back and watched the trading with a smile. He appeared to have some sort of authority over this situation. "Hello there sir," Nichou greeted, but soon got straight to the point. "I was wondering if I could join your Caravan when you depart for Po-Koro. I certainly wouldn't want to have to brave the dangers of the Motara desert alone in my travels".

OOC: Lloyd, could you RP this Caravan owner for me?

IC: The caravan leader nodded thoughtfully. "Well yes..." he said, "But the location of our Koro is also rather sensitive--the people in this caravan were selected because the Akiri trusts us not to reveal the Koro's location to anyone. If you do come with us, I will need to know I can trust you to not betray that secret."
