BZPRPG - Ko-Wahi

IC(Ignitus):"Well, we can't let him go, so that gives us three options: we can kill him, but by any of our codes, doing so now would be dishonorable. We can give him over to a prison or something, and then Radriar might be too busy chasing the Red Star to come get him out. Or we can take him with us on the voyage. So, what d'you say? And no, he didn't win," I say, turning to JL, "because the agreement was a duel by the Code of Aegis, where the first to be disarmed was to be the loser. He was disarmed first. A dirty, underhanded trick doesn't qualify for anything but breaking the code.":A::k::i:

Lienkel's eyes opened slowly. He had just woken up from a deep... slumber, yes, that was the word for it. He looked around, his blue eyes darting to analyze his surroundings. As he sat himself up, he looked at the large imprint in the snow he had left, and saw his axe, sitting not too far from him. As he stood up, he shook a little, shivering. It was obvious he was somewhere in Ko-Wahi. In all his years of trekking the island, he had never felt cold like Ko-Wahi's cold.

The large Lesterin picked up his handmade axe slowly. His crusty eyes looked at it with pride- he had carved it himself, and it held up fairly well. Quickly, he put it into its holster- a small tube of leather, hanging on a belt of sorts. As he focused on his surroundings, he could make out Ko-Koro nearby. Having forgotten how he got in the snow, he felt like going there was the best bet he had, and he began walking there, slowly.

He was glad of the conversation as they tramped through the snow, it distracted from the cold, with which his cloak seemed to be helping with very little. He cast back in his memory to the conversation he had overheard in Onu-koro. Yes, a Vex had been mentioned, in fact he had been there. He still wasn't sure whether he should be helping Zieta or not though. She was on a path to destruction.

"I think I might have heard of him, yes," he said, suppressing a shiver.

She groaned as she opened her eyes, looking about her surroundings. She was in a room, on a bed, wearing some sort of hospital gown or whatnot. What caught her eye the most, wasn't the fact that she had several small stab wounds and a whole bunch of cuts all over her body, but it was the fact that she was missing an arm. The right arm, to be exact. There wasn't even a shoulder left.

She decided that would be a good time to scream.

As he arrived in Ko-Koro, Lienkel looked around. He was still half-asleep, and as he walked through the town, he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings. However, suddenly his goal came to mind- Onu-Koro. Quickly he began sprinting. "Where is Onu-Koro?", he yelled out, not thinking of the odd situation he had just gotten himself into. As he looked around, he sat down in the cold snow, slightly embarrassed by his actions.

Oh, yeah. Guess I haven't written anything here in a while, have I. Want to know why? Because nothing has happened that was at all interesting. Seriously, after a year away, I'd forgotten how boring this place could get.

Well, it looked like someone else was bored too. "Where is Onu-Koro?!" he shouted, drawing the attention of everyone in the square. I figured I might as well help him out; not like I had anything better to do. I walked over to the figure seated in the snow.

"Onu-Koro's north," I said, pointing off into the distance. "That's the easiest way to get there, anyway. There's a few entrances in the Drifts, but you'd have to be, well, not quite right in the head to go looking for them. Even I have difficulty finding my way out there for time to time, and I've been exploring the Drifts as long as I've been alive." I shrugged. "And there's the Dark Walk, of course, but I doubt the Akiri'd let anyone down there."

IC Jarkale

(Ko-Koro, gates):

Jarkale sighed again at the debate over who had actually won.

"That's the problem with duels", he said. "What would you say about a compromise? Oriak helps us with our quest and afterwards we leave him to do whatever he wishes?"

Lienkel blinked for a moment, then looked around for the one who had answered. "Uh... whoever answered, thanks.", he said meekly, trying to not draw attention to himself again. He began jogging north, as he slowly remembered what he was doing. He had heard about a tablet of some sort, and decided to invest in getting one, seeing as his memory was bad. However, just as he was taking off, he stopped- he wasn't sure which way he was heading, so it seemed logical. He began heading back into town, looking for a map.

OOC: Leaving Ko-Koro soon, last chance to come along I suppose

IC:

After a while of searching, Lienkel had found it- a map. He knew where to go, knew what to do- he felt pretty good. However, there was a tagging thought in the back of his head that told him he was missing something... but he had no idea what. He sighed and sat around in the snow once more, looking around the town. The Matoran of Ko-Koro seemed happy, and Lienkel always loved seeing the villagers cheerful. Often he'd head down to Le-Koro and join in celebration, or rest in Po-Koro. As a nomad, he got to see lots of cheerful people- and that made him cheerful, too.

As the sun shined on Ko-Koro, the tall Lesterin walked around the streets, when suddenly he noticed a tavern. He headed inside, being careful to bend over so he wouldn't hit his head on the door's frame- which was obviously made for Matoran. He sat down on a bench near the entrance and relaxed. Even though the Ko-Matoran were used to living in the cold, by the warmth and atmosphere of the tavern, Lienkel could tell they appreciated a warm day sometimes too. The tavern was near-empty, with not much going on, but that was ok for the Lesterin- he wasn't in the mood for a crowded place right now.

OOC: I better catch up

IC:

The twin Vortixxes advanced into the city of Ko-Koro. They were armed, but they did not want to hurt any one. Though they were mercenaries and would kill for the pay, they just like any other person. They walked around the city in the cold sun light, enjoying the city of cold. The one that is heavily built and in crimson fatigues, is Reso 'Vo. He is the 'leader' of his brother. He prefers to make the money deals when an offer is made. The other Vortixx is his brother, Kasrar 'Vo. He is lean but is still as strong as his brother. He's more quite than his brother who usually does the talking.

Kasrar then brings up his Soliton Radar, a radar used in detection of people's line of sight when in an area, plus to show the topography of an area the user is in. He got a bunch of blue line of sight (which what it shows up as), so he puts in away. Right when he puts it away, he sees a Lesterin in a tavern. He taps his brother to take a look.

Reso then says,"Hey there my friend." He waves his hand at him.

Lienkel looked to the two Vortixxes. He slightly recognized them, but other than a familiar look his memories were fuzzy. "Hello there. Excuse me if I don't remember you- and I don't- and what time we've spent together. My memory's as good as a Ussal Crab's.", the Lesterin said, sipping from a metal cup. He stood up from his table and walked to the brothers. "I'm Lienkel, although it seems you knew that, so what are your names?", he asked. A grip tightened on his axe, as he wasn't entirely sure if these brothers were friends or foes.

"Allow me to introduce ourselves. I am Reso 'Vo and this is my brother Kasrar 'Vo. Together we seek the life of mercenary work and adventure the island in which we are now in." The two then entered the tavern, trying not cause damage. "He looks like a pretty good fighter brother," says Kasrar. "Maybe he can help us out on missions."

The Lesterin looked to the brothers once more. "So you're new around here? Well, I happen to be a bit of a nomad- and I'd be happy to help you out, as long as I get to defend people.", he said. He held out his rough, worn hand for a handshake, and a warm smirk formed on his face. "So yes, I take you up on your offer."

The Toa of air listened quietly, registering all the information Riaril was providing him with and comitting them all to memory. They could come in handy at a later time and in any case it was always good to know more about the location one was in...which often happened to be locations he'd had to fight his way out of.

The traveler looked at the healer, his expression impossible to read, but she could see his jaw-muscles tense slighty, before he raised his head slight off of the pillow under his head and said: "I strongly advise you to not try and force-feed me anything through a tube."

"Trust me...you've not seen my type yet." he added. Riaril thought she heard a hint of humour in his voice, but there was no way to be sure.

"As for a name...I go by those that are given to me. I might be known by differing names by others, or no name at all. I was never given a proper one, so it makes little difference to me. So to you, I am Widgets."

"Speaking of names...the last thing I remember from before waking up here were a Matoran and a Vortixx finding me in the ice...they saved my life and I do owe them...do you know who they are?

Reso shook the Lesterin's hand. "Yes we are new around here.." "And we have no idea where we are going." Reso looked back at his brother angry. "What, it's the truth brother. We've wandered around the island since we arrived in Le-Koro." Then an idea struck the two. "What if we ask the Akiri if they need an assistance?" "A well thought plan Reso."

Then they look back at the Lesterin. "Are you headed any where? Maybe we ask the Akiri of the location of your direction of any assistance."

The Lesterin looked slightly confused. "I'm heading to Onu-Koro to get a tablet, but... who are these Akiri?", Lienkel asked. He shook his head and laughed a bit. "Nevermind that, you can explain later. I've seen plenty of this island- and I can guide you.", he said.

IC(Ignitus, Xadah, Gravus, Rerus, Oriak):Xadah nods, walking parallel to the city, with the rest of us following and Oriak suspended comically in mid-air due to Gravus' powers.Eventually, we come to a decent-sized one-story cabin, not too big, but not too small, with a pile of snow-covered firewood nearby."Got a fireplace inside," Xadah says, picking up some of the wood to split. "Gettin' a fire started shouldn't be a problem at all," he says, nodding to Kiron and I.:a::k::i:

OOC: Since no reply for several days, I'll just move this forward.IC: Nalita [& Komani and Kunis (NPCs), bunnying Kughii's Brown-eyed Ko-Matoran] (Ko-Koro, Nuju-Marilion Research HospitalThe brown-eyed Ko-Matoran blinked, then frowned slightly and replied, "We do. He's on loan to Ga-koro at the moment. I suppose we could revisit the case in five to six weeks...""That's unfortunate, but reasonable. We can't let him out in his condition, after all. We can keep him immobilized until then, and it'll only extend the healing time by another month or so--"Komani's eyes widened. "No! Wait! I'll cooperate. Just...take it easy, OK?" Nalita had been right--impatience was his weak point, and threatening a long hospital stay was enough to break through his tough facade. The Lesterin examined the Ko-Matoran's arm again. As she had suspected, he had a few hairline fractures on his humerus and ulna, but those were easily repaired by her mask power--she gently grasped the arm to still it, and then, concentrating deeply, she allowed the power of the Kanohi to fill her, allowing her mental image of the bones' natural state to guide its healing energies. The more pressing concern was the fractured clavicle, which, while healable, would require immobilization to ensure her repair would not undo itself. A quick, unsure glance toward her Ko-Matoran supervisor indicated a supply cabinet built into the examination table--it did not take long for her to locate a long roll of cloth and some straight pins among the surprisingly sparse supplies. Unrolling the bandage, she began to wrap Komani's arm and shoulder in a figure-eight pattern, carefully fastening both ends with a straight pin threaded through the fabric. She bent the ends of the thin rods of metal back upon themselves so they would not come out. Not ideal, but it's better than he'd get out in the field. Hopefully he'll keep his check-up appointment so a real doctor can take a look at it.After she finished pinning the upper end, Nalita withdrew a sharp, shimmering object from her satchel--a small knife, made of pure crystal. A delicately beautiful but very strong variety of crystal. She would know--she had seen such crystalline tools used before, and had been present when this knife was made. Today, however, the tiny blade was not a weapon, nor a memento of her past; it was a simple knife, which she used to trim a second bandage in half before tying one piece to a third strip of cloth. It was a crude sling, but it would keep the arm immobilized. Her preparations made, she once again exerted her mask power. It was a complete break, and difficult to picture--even with the arm held in place Nalita found it difficult to concentrate. Still, it was enough--when she touched the Matoran's shoulder again, there was the normal reaction of withdrawl, but not one of pain. The Lesterin was relieved--more complications would have tested both her patience and her endurance under repeated uses of the mask. Already she was looking forward to a moment of rest in which to recover some of the energy spent using the mask. Healing is taxing work, she thought to herself, even more so when you're doing more than just jury-rigging."You should probably stay until the afternoon, just so we can be certain there aren't any complications. After that, I want you in bed for at least a week, and I don't want you on the slopes for another month, minimum.""Wait--did you say a month?""Minimum. This is medicine, not magic. Injure it again and you're likely to fracture the bone in different spots AND aggravate the existing injury--those bones will still be weak along those lines until they're reinforced naturally.""And what are Komani and I supposed to do in bed for all this time?" the female, Kunis, piped up."I don't know--use your imagination." Nalita instantly regretted the flippant dismissal, as both Komai and the brown-eyed Ko-Matoran raised their eyebrows at the percieved suggestion. "Oh please, get your minds out of the gutter, both of you." She finished tidying up the exam room, and walked past Kunis on her way to the door. "Men," she muttered to the Miru-masked Matoran as she opened the door. Kunis giggled. On the outside, Nalita closes the door gently, then turns to her Ko-Matoran escort. "So. How did I do?"The Ko-matoran's reply was short, but not crypic: "Next patient." He gestures for her to move down the hallway, confiscating her clipboard and placing it in a receptacle next to the elevator. He adds a few more notes to his own clipboard, then adds "Make a right into that hallway, turn left at the intersection, third door on the left."As Nalita walks with the Matoran towards their new destination, she can't help but ask: "So...do we have someone with an Akaku on staff?""Yes. He is on loan to Ga-koro for the next five to six weeks."Nalita stops for a moment, stunned, and has to run a few steps to catch up to the Ko-Matoran. "So, uh...I don't believe you ever mentioned your name. Doctor--?"That was when the screaming started.==Case the Second==

IC:She groaned as she opened her eyes, looking about her surroundings. She was in a room, on a bed, wearing some sort of hospital gown or whatnot. Nalita took off at a run, her cloak billowing behind her, leaving the Ko-Matoran behind with her long strides. Realizing she had outpaced him, she quickly runs back and effortlessly lifts him up. "Isn't the first time I've had to do this," she mutters, not really paying attention to what she was saying. "Hopefully you won't die on me." She took the left the Ko-Matoran had mentioned, then careened through the hall toward the source of the screaming, not bothering to see which door she was entering. Setting her supervisor down, she quickly grabs the being's chart and turns to look at the tortured creature from which the screams were emanating--She stops short. "You?"The Ko-Matoran raises an eyebrow, but for once does not take copious notes in response to her actions.Nalita shakes herself. This one was female, and wore a mask--and according to her chart, was a Toa. "Sorry. You look like someone I know. Knew." The constant screaming was wreaking havok with her concentration--and her composure. Her usual tricks wouldn't work here. "Calm down--please!" She closes her eyes in a futile attempt to maintain focus, but it was no use--the mask just wouldn't activate.

Suddenly smiling, Nalita threw back her cloak, unlimbering a large, curved object from her back. There is a symbol on it, a wavy vertical line with a dot on either side, each dot placed on the concave side of the loose S-curve. "This shield represents Peace, friend. I am going to bring Peace to you." The screaming stopped for a moment--one blessed moment--as the Toa looks up in confusion. Nalita smiles serenely, and then bashes the metallic object into the Toa's face. When the Toa's eyes remain open (if unfocused), she quickly repeats the maneuver, then again for good measure. The Toa slumps to the bed, unconscious. The brown-eyed Matoran drops his clipboard with a clatter as he bursts into spontaneous applause. "Well done, Doctor Legaia!" he says, beaming from behind a pair of spectacles that he certainly hadn't been wearing a moment before. She scoops him up, accidentally knocking his fez to the floor as she does so, and begins to unravel his garish, multicolored scarf. Unable to restrain herself, she dips him toward the floor before--

.Her eyes popped open, the screams piercing her momentary fantasy like protosteel through parchment. Unable to take the noise any longer, she rushes to the Toa's bedside and claps her hand over the woman's mouth. "My name is Nalita, I'm here to help you, but I can't do that unless you try to stop screaming, do you understand?" She uses her free hand to lower her hood, using her most soothing look in her eyes even while keeping her other hand firmly clamped over the Toa's mouth.OOC: That...was a lot longer than I intended it to be. EDIT: Formatting problems. With the doctor's (or at least, that's what she presumed the figure was) hand over her mouth, they blocked off any and all sound outside of a muffled, strained, 'Yes ma'am'.

It wasn't that she was in pain (although, the other wounds that she had did sting from their contact with the bandages), but it was more that she was scared and confused out of her mind. Because as she slowly calmed down and started to think, a horrible sickening feeling occurred to her. She didn't remember how this happened to her. Nor, did she remember anything. It was like she had just been pushed from a high place, and was free-falling with no way to stop her fall.

As all of this happened, she focused her eyes upon the robed figure that had placed her hand over her mouth. She staring at her in fear while she listend to the sound of her deep, ragged breathing as she tried to stay calm, and prevent another outburst.

Lienkel nodded. "We should head to Onu-Koro first. As far as I can remember the business there is good.", he said, stepping out of the tavern. As his armored feet crunched in the snow, the Lesterin took a moment to remember which way was north, and nodded to himself. "Should be up north. I think you'll be surprised at the village's... location.", Lienkel said, holding back a chuckle. "The new ones always are."
