Crainy
Hi,this is Crainy, Im one of the current leaders on the long ongoing Bionicle movie project "Bionicle: Next Generation", you might remember it. While we originally set to create 3D movies, inexperience and lack of a proper team have stopped us from doing so. As such, we decided to do more 2D animated stuff. Under my direction, we created a sort of test short film to experiment what can be done in 2D animation. This is our result, which was completed on the 09.01.2012:https://vimeo.com/66019276We originally planned to do an entire Bionicle series in this style, however, due to lack of time on my part and there currently beeing noone on the team that could fill the gap I leave in the project, this will sadly not come to be. However, BNG might continue to do short 2D animated films rarely.Feedback is greatly appreciated.- Crainy Edited May 15, 2013 by Crainy
Axilus Prime
This was great stuff. The song's lyrics fit, and the instrumental was epic. The animation was great, and in a less common art style. Now, as for the action sequence, it was kind of hard to tell how Onua blocked that, and how Tahu's Krana fell off, but it looked cool, especially considering that this is the first animation you guys released to the public. But Tahu's eyes are red. I'm not sure if that was a mistake, or just to make the Krana stand out more, but a different shade of red for the eyes, or a different Krana color would have fixed things. As things stand that made it hard to tell the difference between Tahu and that Matoran. Still, it's a real shame you guys can't make any more of these, they're great. Given enough time and money, if you guys made a real Bohrok Arc movie like this (With voice actors of course, but this scene is better without words like it was done just now) I'd pay to see it. The Legendary TNT
I really like this! It gives almost a MNOLG-esque style animation, but not. The only thing I'll say is that the title sequence was too long, and I wouldn't have had Onua come to the rescue, because that just seems stereotypical. He saved Lewa both times from the Infected Kanohi and the Krana. Out of curiosity, why is it called "The Two Leaders"? EDIT: Oh, and what program did you use? The animation was really clean! rednas3636
I was wondering for months what happened to B:NG.A real shame, i was looking forward to Dark Mirror. I saved all the concept art . Kopaka in a wardress was simply too awesome for words... BUT i liked the video + the style+ its new, not like eg: a remake of MNOLG+ its B:NG- its a bit too slow conclusion: moar! =) nice job Edited May 23, 2013 by rednas3636 Quote TheSkeletonMan939, Twister92, SPIRIT and Gatanui are awesome for uploading soundtracks and games and stuff. Quote one day this will contain greatness only the best. But take this with the ocean of salt then you will know what to expect from this
Mesonak
Well, I forget if I ever commented on this when it was initially released privately, but if I didn't then, I'll give my opinions now. This is pretty awesome. Good concept, and a good execution. Yeah, movement was a little slow at times, and I'm sure there are many parts where the quality could be improved, but overall the short holds up well. Everything flows pretty nicely, and the part where Tahu is walking through the burning forest while Bohrok walk in the background... man. Excellent music choice, as well. I really wish that so much time hadn't been wasted trying to make the 3D movies work and that this had been the goal from the beginning. It's much easier to handle, and watching this really triggers nostalgic flashes to the old BIONICLE animations. All in all, if BNG could produce more of these in the future that would be just fantastic; it'd be much better than wallowing in a sea of 3D models and ideas for several years. Fantastic work. -Mesonak Edited May 25, 2013 by Mesonak 1 Quote The Three Virtues YouTube Channel ----- ----- Check it out for laughs, discussion, and more. Makuta of Time
I like the short movie you guys made, but it felt rather slow a bit. Also what song did you guys use to do the opening scene.
Toatapio Nuva
The art is amazing, but the animation was very slow. This could be a good thing as well, though. I never expected B:NG to actually complete a fan movie, so I'm not surprised nor disappointed. This was a nice little video that sparked some 2002 nostalgia. Hexann
I love how this movie has an MNOG look. You should stick with that cuz' it looks awesome.
Toa Solaran
I'm going to agree with a lot of what has been said already. It looks fantastic, definitely very reminiscent of the old flash animations and games. It does feel like the animation is a bit slow, but that's just a bit of a nitpick. Overall, I think this is really good, and would like to see more like it in the future. And for anyone wondering what the opening song was, I googled the lyrics and came up with "World On Fire" by Les Friction. Krayce
Wow. Much has changed. Still... I like what was done, even if the 3D was impressive; The MNOLG style is very nostalgic, and it was well done. I hope to see more! The Pyro (From TF2)
Man, I discovered the BNG while looking for tutorials on making bionicles in blender. Too bad you had to go 2d, it was a cool idea and I might have asked to help had I the time or the experience at the time. Nevertheless it looks great and very professional. It reminds me of the cutscenes from the MNOLG. Very smooth too. Nice job. Quote Herro there, person. How are you?
Takatu
That was pretty incredible! I like that it was reminiscent of the old MNOG flash animations, but different enough to be original. I actually thought the animations were intentionally slow, so I really like it! Music was fantastic. Gonna parrot some other people though: Gotta know the name of that song, I love it! Also, is the instrumental music original (as in made for this video)?
