Ten Most Useful LEGO Pieces

Recommended Posts

Do you need a list of the most versatile elements to use in your next LEGO model? Of course you don't, you have your own list that's equally important as this one, and may even have some of the same parts. But if you're looking for a few good bricks to expand your collection, you may want to check out Warren Elsmore's list on Gizmodo. As a LEGO fan from age four and a professional artist, his list does have credibility, but don't take it as a comprehensive guide by any means. Suggest your favorites!View the full article

My favourites (in no particular order) would have to be:

1. the single ball joint, so useful for MoCing overall (especially the one that allows you to put an axle through it)

2. Toa Metru head

3. the basic socket piece that typically functions as hands (can't remember the proper name)

4. Bohrok eyes

5. Piraka clawed feet

6. black (or grey) two hole connector

7. Black (or blue, or grey) three hole connector

8. any axle size

9. those typically grey pieces that hold things onto axles

10. beams of any size

i rarely do System, so i can't really say whether the pieces in the article are any good. but here's my top ten Bionicle bits, in no particular order.

- the new kind of double socket pieces with reversed holes

- those teardrop-shaped liftarms...i don't know how else to describe them.

- ++ thin liftarms

- +o+ thin liftarms

- black 2-stud axles

- black or grey 3-stud axles

- three-way axles

- #2 axle connectors

- Bohrok eyes (usually black)

and or course, ball joints. i own about 200 in various molds and colors, and i can never own enough of them.

there's probably more, but those are what comes to mind.

HF double sockets

Technic pins

Technic #2 axles

1x1 plate with clip... tube... thingy attached that has studs on both sides

Also, I kind of disagree with #10. Chances are, I'll use less than 3 in larger creations. Outside of sculptures, it's really kind of clunky and awkward to use.
