IC(Gurrox, Lehon): I'll prep one of the speeders, Gurrox answered via the same mental communication, Have to knock out the apprentice though. Can't have him trying to escape. Can you extract answers from an unconscious mind?

IC(Syaa, Coruscant): "Yeah and then you might have been arrested and "poor little me" wouldn't have someone keeping muggers away," Syaa said, before looking up at the wookie's furry face and adding brightly, "Or to split half the cost of talking to this Hutt!"

IC(Djashell, Coruscant): The bounty huntress slid into the seat opposite Ammaton. "Can't take the place. Not if there were five of me. I suggest we just call the cops in, do our best to help them out by sabotaging whatever I can, then try and claim some sort of finders fee reward. Your ship might get damaged in the process of that though."

"Are you sure?" he asked. "I mean, there's got to be more people out there hunting these guys down. Maybe we can find someone else, or find some other way into the hideout? Like a secret passage or something right into the heart, take 'em out. Just like in all of them movies."

IC: Jaceren (Lehon)

An instant before the Rancor struck Jaceren felt a disturbance in the force. He had been on high alert focusing his force sense since they had dropped into the jungle the night before.

Jaceren rolled away from the log he'd been standing at to put distance between him and the creature.

"Vel! Use your blaster and keep it occupied! Anshar, do you think you could help me life this log with the force? We can use it to slam into the Rancor." he said. Jaceren was calm and collected now they were in a dangerous situation it was one of the traits that had helped him get this far. They needed to work together if they were going to get out of this alive.

One of Jaceren's obsidian handled lightsabers snapped into his right hand and he activated it; the crimson blade extending away from the hilt. He left his other hand free for now, ready to use it to levitate the log with the combined force energy of Anshar if he was willing to give the idea a try.

Jaceren knew that close combat with the creature would be foolish with those claws and teeth. Perhaps if they could flank it and attack it from the rear... This wasn't a time to go in barging and swinging his sabers in a fit of rage at the creature. No he had to think fast if he and his fellow apprentices wanted to live.

"If only the clone was still around to use as bait."

IC: Gnar

"I'd like to think I'd beat the clones with their own arms if they tried to arrest me," Gnar said. He paused when she added the thing about the Hutt.

"Wait a minute," Gnar growled. "I didn't agree to that. I'm your muscle. Get Djashell to cover the other half. I'm trying to make some credits off this bounty and as it is we're already going to have to split what we get three ways. Last time I checked this wasn't that large of an amount of credits."

OOC: Apologies for the tardiness of this post. I guess I need to bath in the blood of my enemies more often to keep my energy up…
IC (TD-69)
TD-69 made his way down the corridor, his mind running through possible stratagems for use in his latest employment. He would be strapped for forces, operating outside the official CIS chain of command. Considering the way this war had been going, this situation was hardly an outlier. TD-69 paused and reflected upon that fact and then dedicated a few active processes to his depression subroutine.
The droid tactician estimated he would reach the engineers place of work within a few seconds. Plenty of time to dwell on the dismal way this war was going.
IC (Vel Orral)
Vel couldn’t hear what the other apprentice was shouting about, largely because he was focused on the giant monster that wanted to eat him charging out of the forest. That, really, would take up most of anyone’s attention. Acting on instinct, he immersed himself on the Dark Side, focused his energies on the Rancor’s relatively unarmored eyes….and applied force. If he could blind it…..well, then things got much easier.
OOC: And I’m done for the night. Trentin and whoever else needs something tomorrow….Shoot me a PM if you do need something.
And then offer yourself as a sacrifice for Yig. Glory be to Yig.
I’m going to bed.

IC: Tezlo Kaarz (Dathomir)

The Mirialan engineer sat in his work chair, killing time by embodying his own stereotype through polishing a gear with an oily rag. His computer was already up and running, going through some last-minute check-ups to be prepared for the modification job.

As a slur of incomprehensible Basic and numbers flitted across the holoscreen, the doors to his workshop slid apart with an extremely clichéd "woosh" sound, as someone's metal feet emanated sharp clanks upon stepping across the metal floor, Tez looked up...

IC(Syaa, Coruscant): "Getting the spacer's ship back and catching the gang are two different bounties," Syaa reminded the wookie, "We're just doing them at the same time for convenience. And since the gang all have individual bounties on their heads, it adds up to a considerable sum. That Djashell and I are willing to cut you in on."

She started to walk on, trusting the Wookie to follow on behind her, "Speaking of which, we should probably meet up with her again, pool our information."

"Haven't tried it before and now's not really the time to test it out," Zane replied, "Give me a few minutes and I'll see if I can't squeeze a bit of information out of him." Increasing the pressure on the Togruta's stump, he repeated, "Well, Padawan? I await your answer."

She looked at her wrist-chrono and noted the time.

"We should regroup. See if my associates have any leads that might give us a better solution than blowing everything to Hel and back."

IC(Gurrox, Lehon): It may be easier to knock him out know then interrogate him at a safer location, Gurrox mentioned to Zane, Taking him somewhere he knows he isn't going to be found might also put pressure on his nerves and make him more inclined to talk

IC: Ironside (Coruscant, Military Barracks)

After his injuries had been properly treated, Ironside had wasted no time getting himself back on duty. Right now he was in the barracks on Coruscant, gathering his equipment.

As he put the helmet on, he almost involuntarily tightened his grip around his rifle, like it brought him comfort somehow. Ironside wasn't going to rule that out.

He slung the rifle over his back and went for the exit. It would still be a little while before he was back on active duty, so he decided to kill some time on the shooting range

OOC: You're bloody well lucky that I'm not going with an updated version of the Tyrannosaurus rex playbook. Might do that if I have cause to bring out rancors again, but, for now, this one is a solitary bull rancor. The question of acklay social structure is just as interesting, and I rather doubt that Star Wars canon has addressed it in any meaningful way...

NPC(Big Bubba):

The charging rancor slowed uncertainly as it felt the pressure on its eyes, stars erupting at the edge of its vision as the painful force pressed in mercilessly - within seconds, the beast's vision was compromised as blood vessels in the exterior portion of its eyes ruptured, spreading their bright red stain across the black orbs. Ordinarily, a predator in this much pain would have fled the battle, avoiding further injury so it could fight again another day, but in the jungles of Lehon, an animal that had been blinded, however temporarily, was, in effect, a cornered animal, and there was only one possible response.

Unable to rely on sight, the rancor lashed out at the nearest source of sound, bellowing in rage, pain and panic as it swung its heavily-clawed left arm at Jaceren, flailing blindly at what had, moments before, appeared to be easy prey.

IC (Anshar Rune)"Sorry, Manbro. Telekinesis is not my strong card." The Kage apprentice scuttled back, scrambling away from the beginnings of their raft as the jungle rancor swiped at the trio with its webbed claws. Webbed claws. The rancor was famous as a predator with a diverse arsenal of tricks. While the acklay was known for its lightning fast charges, the Corellian sand panther was known to stalk the deserts, blending into the environment in order to sneak up on unsuspecting prey, and the sand shark was known to sweep the beaches for swimmers, the rancor had no specific hunting style. It was the ultimate adaptive predator, an assertion supported by how well the creature had taken to worlds from Dathomir to Felucia. Jungles, plains, mountains and water. No place was out of the rancor's reach.Webbed claws. Rune hung back as Vel unleashed a telekinetic burst at the predator's eyes. "Wait! No lightsabers! I mean, don't kill it! If you keep it's attention diverted, I might be able to try something!" Without really waiting for a proper reply, the Kage apprentice took off, running around the flailing rancor in a wide arc. "I really hope Manbro and Aloe Vera can hold its attention." Rune whispered a basic Nightsister spell to himself, scittering up a tree like a spider. He stopped at a reasonably high branch, roughly parallel to the rancor's back. Fifteen metres from the beast. It would have to do. Anshar Rune began to inhale and exhale steadily, silently calling upon the spirits, the Winged Goddess and Fanged God, to attune himself with the world around him. The apprentice's breathing intensified in staccato bursts as he attempted to sync his breathing with the rancor.

IC-Kaal:

Having left the two he'd been talking to behind - as well as a few young biologists who wanted to learn how his species ate - Kaal bounced along to his room, a slight manipulation of the Force giving him the necessary push to bounce up the stairs, on to his room - situated on the upper floors, and slightly larger most of the rooms in the temple. It had easy access to one of the Temple's landing pads, so that Kaal could easily get out and go riding in a speeder or such if he wanted to.

The Bouncer chuckled, slightly, thinking about his current surroundings. To have gone from the simple life on Ruusan, gathering water in the mornings, travelling with the tribe...to have gone from that to this world, with mountains made of glass and metal, wingless birds of durasteel darting through the air, and more people in a single mile than he'd ever seen on Ruusan. It was interesting, certainly.

Ah, well. Time to eat, and then go talk to one of the masters. They'd contacted him a while ago about taking an apprentice, and he might see if there was an apprentice who needed a master now.

OOC: Sorry for delays in replying, been a busy few days

IC(Gurrox, Lehon): "You know, it would have been far easier to let me do that," Gurrox tutted, "Know I'll need to check him for brain damage when we get to a new location. I could have knocked him out safely and for however long we wanted."

IC(Assorted, Coruscant): It wasn't too hard for Djashell and Syaa to arrange a place to meet once they had both decided they needed to pool their resources as hey had. It was a place outside the Works, somewhere they didn't need to worry about being attacked for standing out.

"So," Djashell said, after both sides of the story had been laid out, "What does everyone think would be the best course of action?"

IC (Trentin)
“Bah. Thought I’d have more time. Guess I was wrong. Used to be a member, they tried to stick me in one of those dead end corps....I didn’t take it well. Long story short, a few guards ended up stunned and I hightailed it into the deep down.” The chiss shrugged. “I figured the heist would let us expand...or give us the money needed to make a run for it if the Jedi ever got wise. As you can tell, they did.” The Chiss criminal shrugged. "We'd spent our whole life sequestered away into that blasted temple....I figured...I figured it was a long shot anyway. Our chances of escaping the planet were....slim at best. Figured me and the boys might as well go out with style..." She smirked for a moment. "And cause as much trouble as possible on the way out."
She sighed. "Never expected to see Coruscant from orbit truth be told. The casino job was supposed to be our ticket out off-planet. What I told the boys at least. Any job we pulled that would be big enough would attract attention. The under covered our cost of living but...." She sighed. "We'd have all been dead of something or another before we saved up enough from the leftovers. Figured the Jedi would come for us, so I tried to hire some extra support so some of us, at least, would get away. They moved even faster then I expected. Never did get around to explaining the job in full....bit busy running for that."

IC(Assorted, Coruscant): "Sure, you try going in guns blazing Gnar, we'll just sit back and see how well that works out for you," Djashall sighed, resting her forehead on her fingertips. Was that kind of plan because he was a Wookie or because he was actively trying to die? The Lady could always use a new fur rug...

"As it happens, I have put a call out for some extra guns, but we still need a plan. Or we're all going to get shot to pieces then blown to smithereens. There is possibly something we could do. Their base is in a network of pipes, its possible we could do something with those. Kirkbride, do you know what might be going though those, or have the ability to find out?"

IC(Gurrox, Lehon): As the larger and stronger of the pair, Gurrox hefted the Togruta over his shoulder then lugged him over to the speeders. Well he wasn't going to walk, was he? After the rain the ground was soft, and would easily be imprinted with footsteps. Any fool could follow them if they walked

"Well... we could always head to one of those shady bars in the Works. Find someone who works for the gang, and knows what all is going on about the pipes security and what flows through them. If you saw people in the base, you could point one out. A lot of these types are in it for the money. Put a few drinks in, wager something down in exchange for information... that could work."

"Otherwise, I suppose we could find who designed the building. I doubt anyone's rushing to take credit, and frankly I don't know enough to get that kind of info."

OOC: Our computers manage quite a few calculations a second. SW computer would, at least, be able to dedicate a few seconds to: "Oh ye gods are we screwed."

IC (TD-69)

"Engineer Kaarz?" The droid's blanked, machine eyes regarded the organic before him, dedicating a few processes to creating a new memory profile. "You are rated quite highly by my peers. TD-245 was quite impressed by your work." It was not every engineer who could preform what amounted reconstructive neuro-surgery when half of the droid brain in question was missing. "I find myself in need of modification. I am being deployed to a world where they will be needed." His words were spoken in a blank monotone, notably lacking the casual emotion of many organics. "I require a Desert-hab modification kit installation. You are able?"

OOC: What's refreshing about Star Wars is that, though their computers are more powerful than ours, their comlinks are just comlinks.

Also, Basilisk, do try to remember to mark your hyperspace posts.

IC(Helor Tuorri - Hyperspace Post 3/3):

Though the pirate's front two eyes were on the readouts from the droids checking out the damage to the ship, his third was on the passenger, mostly due to simple caution. As he looked over the damage report from the sensor array, he thought about the story he'd just been told.

"So, Jedi reject robs a casino, leads what looked like at least a couple Jedi on a chase through the city, and then blows a few things up on the way off-world... Huh." The pirate looked up from the readout and shook his head. "Truth be told, I was on Coruscant trying to hide from some people with some pretty good reasons to kill me. If that cruiser had time to ID this ship, this little escape plan just earned me a fourth bounty on my head... Black Sun, Hutts, Zann, and now the Jedi. I figure, we get to Bespin safe, we need to keep quiet for a bit. Ship repairs and upgrades are about all I'm willing to put out money and effort for until either this blows over or we find a clean way out. If your friends are still alive back there, it'll take a whole lot more than one little pirate ship to get them offworld."

As he talked, the pirate searched through a parts database for higher-powered sublight engines. The problem, it seemed, was that better thrusters meant more power needed, which meant a better engine would be needed. With all the overhauls needed to make that work, he would be lucky to get out with a single credit left to his name. The good news was that the Gozanti's thrusters weren't the most efficient in the galaxy, so some improvements could be made without significantly increasing power draw, but none of the decent thrusters that would fit on the Gozanti's frame were anything close to cheap.

OOC: Not that, just that I assumed it would be fair for Tez to suddenly hear SixNine's footsteps

IC: Tezlo Kaarz (Dathomir)

"Yes, I'm confident I have the expertise needed" Kaarz replied from where he stood, stiff as a stick, before the tactical droid.

The second he'd noticed the tactics droid, he'd shot out of his chair and into a ready stance, giving the tactics droid his full attention.

"OK" he said as he dropped his stance, it was time to get to work

"Before I do anything else, I need to know, what type of desert planet? There's only two different types, but they require somewhat different enviroment kits"

Tez brought up a pair of pictures, displaying two different environments. The first one was of a straight-up barren wasteland, like Tatooine, while the other showed a desert that was at least partly forested, cacti, dry grass and some trees dotted the landscape in small clusters, with the occasional oasis forming.

He looked over at SixNine, expectantly awaiting his response.

OOC: Efforts to contact Madara have met with no success. Attempts will continue.
IC (Talzin)
The elderly nightsister smiled at the apprentice, she wondered, for a moment, if he even understood the challenge that stood before him. “You arrive. Excellent.” Her pale white lips split into what could only be loosely termed a smile, having more in common with the semi-permanent grins of certain ocean-going predators then the human expression. Slowly, the smile faded. “Child, if you allow simple foliage to frighten you, I shudder to think what will befall you on the battlefield. The Jedi, unlike these trees, will be doing their level best to disembowel you in addition to being quite unnerving.” Slowly, the Nightsister rose to her feet once more.
“Your actions were unacceptable and rash. If they go unanswered you will die, or worse, be captured. This is a kindness. This is not an attempt to torture you, no matter how you might feel about the matter. Pain builds strength. Do not rail against it. Do not sputter in rage…..turn your pain into strength. Rely on your will.” The Nighsister stopped speaking for a moment and leaned in close to her erstwhile student. “Now tell me, what do you think will happen here?”

IC: Nentir Draln.

Draln figured that the bracelet had come undone in the dogfight. He wasn't going to see that ever again, but at least he could still build another. He had the idea fresh in his mind, and it was probably a good idea if he made another before they were gone. But he had lost his motivation for some reason, that consistent tug in his gut to build stuff had left him.

IC (Talzin)
Talzin smiled. “Have no fear. I will not torture you. Indeed, I understand this is a rite of passage on many worlds.” That had been where she had gotten the idea after all, the Trandoshans were a harsh race, but their soldiers were regarded as some of the finest in the galaxy for a very good reason. “Step forward apprentices.” A small horde of masked, black-robed beings stepped out from behind trees and foliage. “You will duel them. One at a time. For twenty-four hours. By the end, I assure you, you will have learned to lose.”
The elderly nightsister smiled. “Any medical conditions I should know about?”
IC (Vel)
Vel snarled, an uncharacteristic action. He could feel the rage of the Rancor, the waves of blind predatory instinct and, though he didn’t like to admit it, such things did affect him. The clash with his natural instincts would have been an interesting one, but his state of mind wasn’t conducive to rational thought at the moment. He raised his hand again, focusing his power on the ankle of the great beast, hoping to knock it over or cause it to loose it’s balance.

NPC(Big Bubba):

Unfortunately for the Sith, a full-grown rancor, even a highly distressed one, tends to have a certain skill at dealing with rough terrain, and this one was no exception, adapting to the sudden lateral stress on its ankle with ease, shifting momentarily to a three-legged stance before guessing, based on smell and the direction of the push, where the attack had come from, and charging, full of rage and the desperate fear of a cornered beast as it sought to fight its way clear of these strange little creatures that had so hurt its eyes that its sight still had yet to return.

Well, I won't. Ymper will beat you to death with a book, but hey, what's life without a little excitement?

IC (Vel)
The Sith apprentice cursed, suggesting the rancor do a few things to an Acklay that were, for the most part, utterly impossible in a sane universe. “Little help!?” He tried to dig his claws into the Rancor’s mind, suggesting, rather strongly, that he wasn’t in the direction the Rancor was charging. Rather, he was swimming in the sea. Of course, doing that while running away in an utter panic wasn’t exactly easy.
IC (Clone Commandos)
A small hum filled the air around the commandos, in the distance, barely visible amongst the rocks and orange dust of the vast desert, a small shape was moving towards them. If they elected to check their friend-or-foe systems, they would see it was tagged as friendly.
Odd, considering it was a Geonosian cargo hauler.
