No notification when a comment needs approval

Posted by on Mar 25 2013 - 05:43 PM

As you are most likely aware, it is recommended in the Blog FAQ to change the comment-approval setting from the default to 'Moderate All Comments'.
However, when changing it to this setting, you do no longer get a notification when a comment is posted, so you're forced to either constantly refresh the page to see if there are new, unapproved, comments, or set it to auto-approve all new comments, which was not recommended. Oh, unless the person commenting is a highly-ranked Staff-member, or a member of the Blog Team, since they can bypass the approval-system altogether, resulting in you actually getting notified when they post something on your blog.
But since not all users of the Blogs are highly-ranked members of the Staff, this would certainly make approving or unapproving the comments on your Blog a bit easier. (Or, as an alternative (or temporary) solution you could change the recommendation to set it to 'Auto-Approve All Comments', but honestly it isn't really up to me to decide what you, or anyone else really, recommends)

That is definitely how things work, and how they have worked for some time. I wouldn't say it's a bug because I'm pretty sure Invision designed the software to work that way. We could possibly put in a feature request with them to change the way the software works. I wouldn't get my hoped too high though.
