"External link" pop-up inconsistencies

Posted by BioGio on Jul 27 2013 - 12:56 PM

When viewing a member's profile, if one goes to the "Topics I've Started" or "Posts I've Made" tabs and clicks on an external link, no pop-up appears. Apparently, this does not occur on the "Overview" tab, where said pop-ups will appear; similarly, this is not an issue with the "Blog Entries" tab, although in this case because no links will appear unless one clicks "Read Full Entry."

In addition, embedded videos link to YouTube in two places:  at the top bar of and at the bottom-right corner of the embedded video. Neither of these links create a pop-up; one is sent directly to YouTube.

This is because the contents of the Overview tab are present when the page initally loads and the event listeners for each link are bound. The other tabs are loaded and inserted afterwards and are never bound. If the jQuery on event listener were implemented properly on the body tag rather than each link individually (right now it's being used the same was as bind), this problem could be resolved.

The YouTube issue probably cannot be changed, as the embeded videos are in iframes which, for security reasons, cannot be manipulated by another website.

Bumping this issue to bring up another one - the popup doesn't appear to work for sites in the "Website URL" section of a user's profile.  (Credit to Fox Mulder for making me aware of this.)
