Possible "Edited" Line Removal?

Posted by Illuminatus on Jan 18 2014 - 10:57 PM

So, this has been on my mind for a while, and I think now is a good time to finally bring it up.

Who else thinks that it would be a good idea to give Premier Members (or OBZPCs/POBZPCs, and naturally every category of the staff) the additional ability to bypass the "edited" line at the bottom of every post we make? Quite frankly, I find it to be rather redundant and unaesthetic, especially if it's due to a minor change like formatting or typos. I think a lot of us would benefit from such a privilege.

I'd like to hear what the rest of you think. :)

I find it rather annoying because there's inevitably a formatting error in chapters of stories that I post. Personally, it'd be good to be able to bypass it, at least in the Epics forum ...

See, the problem with that is that somebody can read through a post, then someone can edit it, and then other people can respond to that edit. If there's no indication that the post was edited, the person in question will be 200% more lost.

I also think that it's a standard feature of the forum software that can't really be adjusted.

The Invision software has a way to do this, since I've seen it at RRU. It wouldn't be too hard.

That's why I mentioned the ability to bypass the line. If an indication is required for a significant change, any member with enough brains would check the "display" line. Sometimes, it simply isn't required.

Exactly.

Forum staff used to have this option. B6 took it away. I miss it! : P
