Make the April Fool's Spinnies optional

Posted by The Swimming Beard on Apr 02 2014 - 09:54 PM

I suggest that the April Fools spinnies should be made an optional setting, allowing a user to use either the normal ones or the April fool's ones. A lot of people seemed to like them, so it seems like it might be a good idea to make them an option.

Here are the spinnies:

YES YES YES YES YES YES That is a awesome idea, a lot of people will love to have it and I going to love to have the Unikitty :ahhh:
Also it maybe a good diea to let people use the normal year spinnies but only use the ones that they get, like that I was on BZP for 1 year, I can't change my to the 4 year spinnie because I was not here for 4 years.

I'm skeptical. The whole point of the spinnies is to show how long you've been on the site and have a little goodie to look forward to each year. This would kind of defeat the whole purpose of the spinnies in my opinion.

How 'bout there's an option that the April Fool's spinnies are on one side of your proto bar and the regular, yearly spinnies are on the other side, to indicate how long you've been here?

No.

Too messy.

I agree with Fishers, that would be too messy.

I saw an idea somewhere that makes sense to me. If this was to happen, couldn't it just be a theme? So you could have the normal BZP theme with the normal spinnies, but others can turn on the April Fools theme, and that would show them the randomized spinnies for everybody?

No idea how possible or easy that is, but it gets the best of both worlds, I think. Those who want normal keep the normal all across the board, and those who want spazzing nixels get spazzing nixels. *shrug*

I guess it's possible if a new board skin was introduced.

Can we use them in our signatures. I'd like to use the Nixels and the Skull in mine.

I'm fairly certain that is totally fine.

Part of the fun was the randomness and the excitement of something new. In my mind, allowing them to be used all the time would defeat the purpose: they'd get boring after awhile. Sure, they're cool, but the current system of spinnies provides a nice "reward" of sorts for members who stick around.
