Right, so a while back I decided to try my luck at stop motion. This is my first time mind you, so it really isn't that smooth (frame to frame wise). This is also my first time using Windows Movie Maker, so basically, its just me, being a noob at stuff Though I think the finished product was decent enough to get posted in the end.
Vezok VS Scourge

My notes-
-The framerate is way off, next time I do something like this I'll try to make it less choppy
-The transformation noise volume was kicked up one notch to high on my sound recording program

Thats funny, To bad for Vezok. The voices should be alittle louder though. I think this should go in software.

I blame Mikerahk for being half asleep when he did his voices
And I'm not for certain if this belongs in software, I looked around a bit to make sure, and I've seen other stop motion movies in the General Art forum, if it needs moving I'm sure an FA/FL will make sure its all taken care of.

that's what volume controls are for, just crank up the volume

i'm specifically referencing the voice of vezok, raw talent right there

as you said, there are a few spots where the frame by frame is somewhat choppy, but as time goes on you'll improve

Yeah, the Scourge transformation scene was really slowed down, if I had the time/energy/interest to go back and redo the thing I'd definately fix that particular bit.

Pretty funny, but everything seems to travel at a uniform speed, there are parts that should be faster than others.

Isn't the smallest framerate on WMM 8 fps? That's what I use... and though 30 is best, 8 usually looks decently smooth.

Unless it's my compy...

The transformation sequence should be very fast, just up, moving, there, because it makes for a VERY long time between "stupid lizard" and "what did you just call me?" which sorta messes up the effect.

Also I believe you can notch up and down the volumes on WMM, there's this bar on the sound file, you know?

It's pretty good for a first attempt, but could be better.

Yeah, I've since become aware of all the different things I could've done to make this movie better by using the program more, I was going by the "Length of each picture" but instead I could've taken different sets of pictures, made faster and slower clips and thrown 'em together. For all of the sound I was using the basic sound recorder, but I'm pretty sure that WMM has the option to adjust the sound...I just didn't know aobut it when I made this XD

That movie was cool. The framerate is a little slow, and as you learn WMM, you will know how to tweak it to make it faster. Excellent job for your first try! If you have any questions about WMM, or stopmo in general, feel free to ask!

First, thought the video does not have voice an it looks so boring. And then I found out there was voice actors in the credit and I replay again. And it was funny.

I've already got another project planned, though its far off, it won't be a side project like this, I'll actually have to sit down and make time to make sure I get everything right. The current plan is to go with Piraka and Doomtoran as the main characters, I just need to finish the script

Frozen- Scourge just happened to be laying on the shelf (with a bunch of other stuff) so I used him, I didn't want to go to the back of my Anime Decepticon shelf to get Galvatron or Starscream, I'd probably end up knocking at least a dozen figures off the shelf.
I've been working more on a script for my next video, and working with clips in WMM (which'll get posted here eventually), and I think I've improved a lot in the past month We'll just have to wait and see.

The changing was too long but besides that it was good. Nice acting on Vezok's voice

You gotta practice voicing characters with more...Voice!Like Scourge would be all evil and deep, and Vezok's should be kinda like the Green Goblin.

But it was hilarious. I loved it.

Mr. Nobody- Of course that's a stupid lizard Until it turns into a giant axe wielding robot, then its not so stupid (at least not for Vezok)

Takiah- we (me and Mikerahk) did our voice acting really late at night (for lack of much else better to do) so we weren't hard pressed to get into character...though Mikey pulling off the Green Goblin voice sounds somewhat hysterical.

Yeah I have plans for another one, it just all depends on when I get around to it. I've worked on some stop motion since this (but nothing post worthy IMO) and I've definately been able to smooth out the movement so it doesn't seem so choppy anymore.

Yeah, according to my printout reports that Google Videos give me, I get at least 50 hits on each video (Vezok VS Scourge has the most, b/c it was posted before anything else) I've posted everyday. Good thing to see that other people are able to find it when they do their own searches without it being to obscure.

Thanks, and yes, stop animation is harder than most people assume until they actually try it. Which explains the choppiness of this movie, I really learned how hard it is to make smooth animation in this format, but I think it was worth it to at least test my skills before I got serious about anything.

I concur, stop motion is incrediably difficult, you have to have a lot, I repeat, a lot of patience to be good at it. I did some stop motion animation at camp last month, and let me tell you, I am absolutely horrible at it, I have no patience.

It does take quite a long time. Trying to pose the figurines for each individual photograph without knocking them out of place can prove quite tiresome. I'm sure all the stop motion people in this forum had their issues with it at first.
