Well, i think its time to try this. With the spread of kraata, wide availability of krana, i thought it would be interesting to see how everyone displays them.
If you dont, thats cool, just whip out a digi cam, if you have one, lay your masks out, and snap a shot of it. What im mainly interested in getting started here is a sharing of mainly Photos of what you have and how you display them. Also i would like to find out about how you came up with the idea and what all goes into your display. Ill start ::stands up:: Hi, my name is MrNobudy, and im a kraata holic. oh wait, wrong forum, anywho, My krana display is based off of the one here on BZ. I modified it slightly to use the toa heads to hold the krana on. Heres a pic of it: Krana rack My Kraata is also loosly based on the same model. I thought about using the toa heads to hold the kraata on, but that just looked screwy, so i use a perpendicular axle joiner to hold them on. They dont stay on perfectly, but it gets the job done. Heres what that looks like: kraata rack Now, that pic is very old, see the link in my sig for all my updated pics. Theres also shots of my entire collection there, so enjoy. Well, im hoping that this holds up. PLEASE dont turn this into a spam fest of saying 'wow thats cool' or 'thats alot of krana/kraata'. PM someone personally if you just want to say that. Id like to have this be intelligent and helpful to anyone who would like tips on how to build a display. Oh, and if it works well, is there any way to make this an official display topic?? -------------------- |

My Krana, along with all my other masks, live out their daily lives in a small drawyer. But on the occasion that I get a new mask(s) they are spread out across my floor, a picture is taken, and they are then shoved back into the drawyer, awaiting a new mask.
But whilst on the floor they look a little like this:

I keep my Kraata on the lids of the tubes they come in. They're on a shelf with a sign saying: Kraata in a Rahkshi Font. Sorry, I don't have picks.

Actually scrap that collection, I've just got 5 new Kraata, and I will have a pic of the display by tomorrow (I'm too tired to do it right now).
I think I'll just set them out in row, or I'll see what my mood will do for it. Here's to tomorrow... -------------------- |

Normally I store all my Kanohi/Krana in the cans with the Toa/Bohrok that they accompany.
When they are out on display though I like to create a little "vignette" of the character and their "accoutrements" My goal is always to use as few extra non-bionicle pieces as possible to do this, therefore the Kanohi go on heads on the canister lids with a special mask in the middle, and I use BURPs and LURPs (well somebody has to like them!) for a bit of "mise en scene". For a long time I kept my Krana on a transparent 'Bar 1 x 8 with Brick 1 x 2 Curved Top End' (to use the Bricklink description!) to make them look like they were floating and arranged them around the Bohrok, but have recently decided to just lay them on the Bohrok cannister lids to keep it more in line with the Toa. I tried various ways of attaching them to the lids, but nothing worked satisfactorily, so they are now just sat on them for now. My Kraata are stored 12 to a tub in 18 tubs, with 2 lids on it (joined together with a black technic peg). The 2 lids are so that I can lay them out in a display. I'm still not sure about the Rahkshi - I guess they will go with their lids with their 6 Kraata on the lid. The thing that's causing me the biggest problem at the moment is trying to sort out which 3 pairs of Kraata colours to put with which Rahkshi. Nothing works very well. Anybody got any suggestions??? Here's a few shots of the way my displays have evolved (as I can't post that many pictures on here, I've put one Mata-Nui region display per stage - you'll see what I mean): KANOHI My original vignette ![]() KRANA I had to expand onto 2 baseplates when the Bohrok were released ![]() KANOHI-NUVA Everything got a bit more squashed in when the Toa Nuva appeared ![]() KRANA-KAL And the Bohrok-Kal necessitated a change of plan ![]() KRAATA There's no point fighting it anymore - My displays have GOT to spread onto 3 plates now! The Bohrok and Rahkshi fit OK, but things are looking very crowded for the Toa and the Matorans - maybe I'm going to need a forth baseplate... ![]() Kraata Storage: ![]()

Since I only have 3, I just display 'em on the tub they came with. And the krana, I just store 'em in one of my Bohrok canisters.

James, im very impressed!! I really like how you did that! I dont have near enough room at the moment to even try anything close to that.
The grouping of the characters helps keep the relations there. i dont know if that made any sense. but its neat to see them all color coordinated. I ponder doing somthing like this when i get a house. Exect, my masks will be on the racks and the appropriate characters on shelves in front of them. Very good! -------------------- |

Anyway, nice displays people. I keep all my masks in a large storage box except my WMKK which is in front of me. Mr N is right. I got the clear bars through Bricklink. I bought over 100 from the same guy - he thought I'd gone mad wanting so many.
I may well have some spare, as there are 48 Krana that are no longer using them. On the other hand... <has a "lightbulb" moment - as Oprah calls it> ...maybe I should try out some Kraata on them!!! It's bound to take up less room than the lids do. I'll be back to post a picture within the hour... ...OK - I'm back! First, blackfiredragon - I like that idea - mainly 'cos I don't even have to bother getting the Kraata outta the tubs! Here's a picture of it: ![]() Then I tried the Kraata on the clear bars. You can certianly pack a load on a baseplate! Wasn't sure which way up to put them, so I did some of each and left them random, like a swarm of slugs coming to get ya!! Be afraid - Be very afraid... ![]() Although this does move away from my initial concpet of trying to use the lids and as few other pieces as possible. Oh, the dilemmas that Bionicle can cause in your life! Mr Nobudy is right again (is he EVER wrong?!?!) that I was trying to keep things colour coded in my displays - and you might notice that I changed the eye colour of the Bohrok and also swapped some of the Krana round to achieve this. But I'm still loosing sleep over how I can incorporate the Kraata into this scheme. I need to find 6 sets (3 pairs presumably) to go with each Rahkshi. The best I can come up with is: Vorahk: black/coper, black/orange, black/yellow Turahk: red/blue, red/jade, red/black Guurahk: steel/pearl, steel/iron, steel/jade Panrahk: bronze/yellow, bronze/black, bronze/copper Lerahk: greeen/jade, jade/iron, iron/lime but that leaves Kurahk: yellow/copper, yellow/lime, tan/green which is utter rubbish!!! I know I'm very anally retentive, but if I worked at Lego, I'd have made sure that the colours fitted in with the existing schemes at least slightly. Has anybody got a better way to sort the Kraata colours out for display? This post has been edited by James Markham: Sep 6 2003, 06:36 AM |

Lol James, vohrak and all those kraaaaaaaata (the aaaaaa being what hed say when he saw them) Well if you do have any of those bars for spare then please contact me!!
I did look on bricklink, like you guessed but i dont think its for me. The only guy with enough (210) has them for $0.01 each yet if I wanted thema ll id have to get minimum order of $20!!! then he adds $15 for shipping, which is ridiculous and an extra 25% for VAT why the heck does he need to charge VAT?? to make extra money thats why. Anyway I found guy with no minimum order, but he only had 98 (x2) does the x2 mean he has 196?? anyway, they are more expensive but no minimum order so i might go with him, his name is troy if youve ever heard of him -------------------- Desperately seeking a GPKK Yo. if its somthing like troy at GOB, yeah, ive ordered from him a couple times. he takes a bit longer than some others, but hes a good guy. and the x2 Means that you have to make orders in multiples of 2. but he only has 98.
my wife would argue that point!
i just say dont try to match them up. there supposed to be wild kraata so treat them that way! just line them up with their colors. dont try to associate them with rahkshi. as for your display idea, thats pretty cool. looks like the kraata are standing on their heads however. id say either dispaly them 'flat' or have you tried hanging them tails down? i think that would look better personally. give it a shot!! -------------------- |

I bow to your huge wallet, and I maj just make my Pohatu Nuva look like yours. Nice idea. Anyway, I store my Kraata in much the same was as he does, that is, in their tubs. well, i got a majority from bricklink and i traded from a few people on BZ for a few. I still have a ton left over. im just trying to decide what to do with them. I considered making a few spare krana racks and trying to sell them, but i dont know if it would counter the cost of buying the parts. Edit: 500th post!! halfway to free kraata!!! Whoa, some of you guys have very impressive displays! Mine are nothing like that. I just stick mine in the relevant canister (or in the Toa/Rahkshi's case, on top). The Noble masks also went into the Toa's Suvas. The Kraata are sorted into 42 colour-coded tubs with labels, and the Krana (-Kal) go in with the relevant Bohrok.

Currently on the lookout for a Copper/Bronze Level 5 (last Kraata needed!). Big rewards offered! |

I have a shelf with Mukuta on it and the Rahkshi next to him and on the floor are the kratta crawling underneath all of them it looks so cool. Just make a mental picture of 36 kraata crawling beneath Mukuta and the Rahkshi.
