Since we've come back from the dark days of the shutdown...

(1) Things work pretty much the same way! We still have the same rules: authors should start a story thread and a review thread (please put a link in each one to the other!). Authors can double-post in the story topic, using one post per chapter. Readers should reply in the review thread. As always on BZP, no profanity/flaming/baiting will be tolerated. But now we mods have some new capabilities. So if you authors find people have posted in your story thread, tell a moderator, and we can straighten it out for you.

(2) The old links may be messed up (the ones in my stories were). But the good news is, the search feature works now! So use it to find your old stories, and edit your posts to update your links. And try to be patient with others who haven't gotten around to it yet. Update on links: See my post later in this topic. You can manually edit the links to fix them.

(3) The editor is still a little buggy, so if you're in the habit of using it to write your stories, now might be a good time to switch to a word processing program. Plus, you can spell-check it and save your work on your own computer (always a good idea, especially in light of what just happened.)

OK, I'll let you get back to reading and writing.... so many stories, so little time!

Many of you may have noticed that the topics that index all the stories in the Libraries are not working. Because of the move the links are down.

So just to help you all out. I've got the instructions you can use to locate your story, or somebody elses.

---------

1) Under Search Keywords. Put in the name of the user (exactly as it is written. Caps spaces, everything)

2) Select "Match Exact Name" and "Search with User Name Alone"

3) Under Search Options, Select "Search In Forum" and choose the forum you wish to look in (Either the Whole Library or a specific section)

4) Select "Search Titles Only" and "Show Results as Topics"

5) Under "Refine Search"...choose "Today" and "Older"

Then just push "Search"

UPDATE ON LINKS

You can edit your old links and make them work. Do this:

(1) Replace "bzcommunity.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?" with "bzpower.com/forum/index.php?"

(2) Replace all the semicolons (;) with ampersands (&) in the rest of the address.

Example:

Old link
http://www.bzcommunity.com/cgi-bin/ikonboa...ST;f=25;t=12436

New link
http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?act...ST&f=25&t=12436

Try it! It may be faster than using the search feature.

wiered it didn't work.......i tried to find: Li Daughter of Lewa and Gali and it didn't work.

Create both topics, and open each one in its own browser window. Copy the URL at the top of the review topic. Then click the "Edit" button for the post in your story topic, and use the "http://" button to add a link to the story topic. Then click "Submit modified post." Now your story topic will have a link to the review topic in it. Do the same thing, in reverse, to add a story topic link to your reply topic.

I noticed that all the stories got deleated. What was the reson for that? I' m guessing that:
It eather was the work of the hacker (Not likely)
Or The sight was running out of space (It was down alot before they did that)
Or it just all got deleated when the sight was updated.

I just was curios because I had a website with a link to all of my storys, and then all of a sudden they where all gone and I had to start all over...

I can answer that. All the forums were cleaned up when they upgraded the forums. Meaning that all topics with posts earlier then about January 15 were deleted.

You can still get to them through the search and through links...but not through the forums....

This should get you started: Writing Tips, by various BZP authors. There's a Q&A topic for new members at the top of the forum pages, you can go there for all your questions. Just be sure to check the Q&A Directory Topic first (link in my signature).

Yes, there are, but not as often as in the BBC forum. I'm not sure when the next epic contest will be, but the Comedy Contest should be starting soon.

OK, the Comedy Contest topic is up, it's pinned in the Comedies forum, entries will be accepted April 1-15. Read the rules, because it's different from any previous contests-- there's a theme, and you PM your story to me instead of posting it.

Sauron_Toa_of_Darkness, you need to post that in the Epics Library topic so your story can be added to the Library.

No topics were deleted in the shutdown or the forum reorganization, but only the last month or so is displayed UNLESS you specify otherwise (a drop-down menu lets you change that). If your old links do not work, use the Search feature.

(AHEM) Ummmmmmmmmmm........... I have a questeon, Exactly HOW do you start an epic (or comidie)?

Quite easy, just click the little "New Topic" button right beside the "Add Reply" button, make the title and descriptiion, write the fan-fic(or topic if in a different forum) and there you go.

What's a fanfic? Please define, as I don't know.

Fan fic stands for Fan Fiction: these kind of stories are fictional and written by fans of a certain storyline. The Library is for Bionicle-based fanfics.

There is no fixed limit to epics, as - usually - chapters are longer than that already. And epics don't tend to get as spammy as comedies...
If your chapters are under 300 words, don't worry, but epic readers do enjoy long chapters.

Hi there, nameless member. Welcome to BZPower.
If you have the epic on your computer, open it, select the text and copy. Then, at the bottom of the page, click 'New Topic'. You can then paste the story into the box. If you used any Word effects like underlining, italics or bold letters, those will not be put in. Just follow the instructions when posting, and you'll get it right in no time.
To post a review link, first you'll have to create a review topic just like you created the other one. After you've done that, copy the web address or URL of that topic, and paste it in your Word file for future use. Then go to the epic topic itself, push the 'Edit' button at the top of your post, click the 'http://' button, and a box will pop up. Then press the ctrl and v buttons on your keyboard simultaneously. Then click OK, and write what you want the link to appear as. Click okay again, and you're all set.

Go here.You will get some great writing tips here.To write a story click the New Topic button at the top or the bottom(doesn't really matter) and start typing away.

What are guest stars for?

That would be if you wanted somebody else to either write your fic for you...or have a character of theirs appear in YOUR fic.

I generally would suggest avoiding either choice. As in one situation the person loses control of their story, while in the other situation the person loses control of a character.

What are the rules on Epic Center Topics (topics that contain all of your stories)? Do you need permission to create one?

No, you do not need permission to have an epic center. As far as the rules go, you can have any type of story in your Story Center(Cot, Comedy, Epic, and Short Story) as long it doesn't contain innapropiate material (click here for more details) that isn't suitable for a 10 year old child.

Wait, do all stories have to be suitabel for under 10s?!
Because If you see where I'm going with Control Struggle- Tahu Infected it aint gonna be.

Not all stories have to be for children under 10 because there is quite a few PG-13 epics on BZP.

What are the descriptions for R-Rated and Pg-13 ratings and are we aloud to put these? just wondering cuz im new
