Due to the continuous spamming and low-grade comedy turned out here, we have implemented new standards for this forum. Starting immediately, all comedy posts will be held to these standards.

All comedies must consist of at least 300 words per post. Any comedies failing to approach this level will be closed and the author will be warned; if comedies by the same author continue to be under 300 words, PE will be taken.

Comic strips, one-shot comic images, and comic videos are permitted.

Subject of Comedies must be Bionicle-related and may not contain any racist, sexist, or adult themes, or any 'potty humour'; bodily functions are not considered acceptible for this forum.

Gratuitious violence must be kept to a minimum, and graphic descriptions of violent acts will be deleted.

Authors who start a comedy may have other people add to their comedies, but only as long as each post meets the minimum word requirement.

Suggestions for plot ideas, requests to guest-star, and any other suggestions or requests may only be submitted via PM.

There is NO ten-word rule.

Further rules may apply; always be sure to check this topic if you are not sure about what you are going to post.

Kaiapu has told me that people are yelling at him for closing the Kopaka Springer topics. That was his call as a moderator, and it must be respected.

I point you to the BZPower Rules and Guidelines:

QUOTE
“Moderators run the day-to-day operations of the forums. They are chiefly responsible for the enforcement of these guidelines you are reading right here. When a mod issues a reprimand or a judgment, it is to be followed. A Moderator’s decision will hardly every be reversed by a member of the Administration. Moderator decisions are not permitted to be reversed by another moderator, so don’t bother pursuing that avenue. Should you have a problem with a decision a mod makes, discuss it with the moderator, or the Moderator Chief -- Bionicle Rex.”

Normally when people want others to listen to their points of view, it is much more expediential to ask nicely. The exact opposite has happened. People have been nothing but rude to Kaiapu and hardly anyone has asked nicely. That’s not the way to get what you want. Don’t come running to me either, that topic is staying closed until Kaiapu thinks it can be opened again – which may be never again at al.

Furthermore, people have now taken on the Kopaka Springer name and have started new fics with it. That will not be tolerated either. Anyone who does such will loose two zaps of Proto Energy and will have their post count reduced to one.

If people continue to yell at or be disrespectful toward Kaiapu, they will have their post count reduced to zero, and will be suspended. Asking him nicely and explaining why if perfectly fine, but flaming a moderator will not be tolerated.

This is all part of the crackdown on the attitude in this forum. It will continue until everyone learns to respect the rules and the moderators in this forum.

This rule is still in effect, and it will still be enforced. Make sure you understand that.

Original Post by Schizo Kaitia:

As you've undoubtedly read in the Comedies Forum Standards posted by Z, we have a 300 word minimum for comedy chapters to uphold quality and to avoid post count inflation.
Now, some of you may have trouble determining how many words they actually have. Obviously counting them yourself can be a tedious and therefor often omitted activity.

Now here's the easy way:

Write your comedy chapter in Microsoft Word. When you've finished, select 'Extra' at the top (Edit: for some of you it could also be under 'Tools' - thanks for pointing that out, GG), and you'll see the 'Word count' option. Just click that, and you'll have the correct amount of words you used.

If you see you've not yet used 300 words, try to expand on what you have without feeling you're straining to get there. Stay inspired.

Note: if you write more chapters in the same Word file, be sure to copy that chapter to a new (temporary) one to check the lenght, otherwise you'll add the previous chapters to the count, which would give you a wrong result.

I hope this will prevent any future misunderstandings on this.

A Note On Double Posting in the Comedies Forum:
  • Only in these cases may you double post: when posting a new chapter after the previous chapter, or when posting a new chapter after a reply to a reviewer's comment.
  • Any other form of double posting is not allowed. This includes teasers and posts saying "I will post the next chapter in two hours" or "please post".
