Well... Mfuss... leet is just a variation on the English language. While it is up to you to decide what happens, there really isn't much of a problem that I see when speaking leet. Are there 3 really good reasons you have banned leet?

Sorry, Goeyoshi. I stand with the admins on this. It slightly bugs me to see stuff posted in "leet," I just skip over it because it's too much bother to decipher. Besides, much of the time the leet comments are full of weird slang anyway. leet counts as a different language in my book. What if someone started posting in an obscure African dialect of English that most people couldn't understand? Would you justify that by saying their language is based on English?

Well.. I partly agree with you. When I'm reading I don't usually decipher all of the |337. It is kind of n00bish to make whole posts in |337, but when used in moderation it is easy too read. Like this post, with only 4 |337 words.

Go figure.

Because letters are not numbers, and numbers are not letters. "Yo" and "Homie G" are using only letters. And if other slang got to be bad, then we would deal with that also. Right now we are focusing on leet.

But where do you draw the line? It's more practical to censor it altogether than to make vaguely defined, unenforceable rules against "heavy leet."

Slang is perfectly acceptable, IF it's used in moderation (no pun), doesn't offend people, and doesn't serve to conceal your meaning.

While I find it irritating to see whole posts in leet, it's a cool slang that lots of us like to use. Many people have put (in brackets) what they mean for the un-leet members, and when used in the common ways its not a problem. Going overboard, into Extreme leet, where every letter is replaced is weird, but a member who types in only leet sould look forward to a proto deduction, as a rule sould be written about leet guidelines. I rarely use leet here, out of consideration for the people who don't understand it, but I feel that autocensoring it out altogether is going too far. If you feel that you must take the leet form our lives here, please, PLEASE, dont change noob. I use that word with a P45510N (passion, for the un's).

I will say it again...

When it gets in the way of modding forums, it is a problem. Not all the moda/Admins can or want to read it, and when they can not read something they can not mod theor forums properly. That is a problem.

I side with you guys, too. it is a HUGE pain to have to try to figure out what it says. com'on, guys, you might be able to look and just know what it says, but please be considerate. and, by the way, leet is NOT "slightly" modifying english, it's extremely, obbsessivily, mutilatingly(whatever that means ) OVERmodifying it. Not to diss anyone, but please...it's so confusing...I'm already confused...must you make it harder to read the text when I have such a bad headache that...oh, nevermind. anyway, I really do think it's ANNOYING. severely ANNOYING. they censored it for a reason.

I don't nessicarily think that "leet" or whatever should be banned, I mean there are people who want to use it. I, on the other hand, can't understand it without staring intently at it for at least 5 minutes.

If it was banned we would be taking proto or posts from the people using it! So stop saying it was banned, it is not banned. Geesh people. What is so hard to understand here? Not everybody wants to or can read leet. And that is getting in the way of us modding the forums.

what did you just say? seet tbset? jibberish has nothing to do with phones...

Once I saw leet in a story, it made it pretty funny. But, sadly to all you leet lovers out there, I can't stand leet. I can figure it out, it takes time though. I think the easy stuff is perfectly understandable, like newbie or dude. I would get very upset if I saw newbie being changed into newbie. But, even if it did, there isn't much I could do about it, so I'll just go with it. I sure that what the Admins or Mods do is for the good of the forum.
