What is is? I have no clue except that it dates back quite a while. (Thanks T-Hybrid)

There used to be 2 alliances Torhu led the good side & Rahi Master led the bad side. It was a challenge to between both to see who could get the most people, but I think it was stopped because of spamming!

Okay....get ready for Flashback Mode:

Okay...back in the first year of BZ (back on the old Reddimension URL)....a little joke between two members blew up.

Basically what happened was Torhu and Rahi Master (two "newer" members) began to joke about followers (these two had always jokingly been rivals). What happened was that another member: Matoro decided that the and Rahi Master would work together as "Leader" and "Follower."

Jokingly...two other members: Lewa the Jester and Melvin teamed up with Torhu. In their sigs, they put "Follower of Torhu" or "Follower of Rahi Master."

This started to snowball...and soon members began to seek out Torhu or Rahi Master to follow. It actually came down to Torhu and Rahi Master having close to 30 followers each (which at the time was a LOT)

The Mods decided to acknowledge this trend...and came up with rules on who could follow...as well as rules when it came to recruiting.

Anyway...things got out of hand...and soon Followers started to flame one another for who they were following...the board was in danger of being split apart.

So Torhu and Rahi Master decided to end the whole thing (seeing as how it had gotten way outta hand on account of them..and had never meant to be anything more)

That's the whole "Follower Fiasco" which older members may sometimes refer to. And it's actually neccesary to tell that to explain the Alliance.

Okay...Followers had ended....but to show that they were still friends...Torhu, Rahi Master, Matoro, Lewa The Jester, and Melvin all became "The Alliance."

There wasn't anything really that the Alliance did...it was just a group of guys that just kinda got along (back when BZ was smaller)

To this day...they still have "Proud Member of The Alliance" in their sigs...as a sign of their friendship.

I don't remember how long Followers lasted...but I do rememebr that it was a WEIRD time....

Man...too bad a majority of the topics from back then were pruned away.

Keep in mind the famous quote:

That's why I have the whole Followers lesson. I don't really want people trying to start up things like Followers/Alliances...cause if it gets going...even if you're doing it as a joke, it'll blow up.

Trust me...RM and I had NO IDEA that what we were doing as a joke would turn into something as big as the Follower Fiasco.

Isn't Rahi Master a Mod or something?

Heh, I heard you were both quite the spammers when you were newbies.

Not spammers.

We got into a little bit of trouble...but we were quite the Hyper Newbies.

It was actually RM that started Word Association...and me that started Bionicle After Hours (too legendary topics you may remember)

Word Association? I played a game like that on another board. It is the one where you post a word then another word on and on...

Nope, before my time. If I just found BZP a couple days after I started to liek Bionicle!

yes, we had such a thing on my ikonboard (no advertising permitted, so you couldn't get the address outta me if you beat me with a 12-ton hairdryer) until one of the admins turned traitor and as good as destroyed the board. I made another, and I am very careful about how I choose the admins...but even on such a small board as mine (9 memers-pathetic) it turned into a small "fiasco". it was fun, but the Mods and admins had to work overtime (I'm sure they did here, too) to keep the spam and flame at bay. so I guess it wasn't really worth the trouble.

Question 1:
Wow...that's quite a question. I'd have to say that when I became one...BZ was rather small. The reason I was given the posistion was because RM (who had become a Mod during the Followers Fiasco) wasn't able to cover his forum as much during the school year. So it became me and RM modding GD and then later CoT.

Did I think it would happen? I don't really know. I remember sending the PM to D letting him know that RM was going to need some help...and offered to help out. He took it into consideration...and within a week I was PMed saying that I was being given the posistion of Mod in GD/CoT.

Question 2:
Yeah. It was fun. People were joking around with it...and RM and I were having a blast "competeing" with each other. We both started to offer special privleges and whuthavya....but when the flaming started...we kinda figured it had gotten outta hand. It was over shortly after that. Think it lasted a month.

Thanks for the history lesson, Torhu. But I still think it would be kinda fun to have alliances. This explains your sig. (to be honest, i thought it was sone kind of anime thing) Imagine what it would be like if you and KK were competing. Even with no formal alliances, you each have quite a following. I don't know who I'd back up!
Man, I wish i was a BZer back then sounds like it was a blast!

Yeah...the sig pic has nothing to do with the Alliance.

The Quote went with the pic...but the Sig was too large...so I combined the Quote and the alliance line...and it ended up working really well for me.

The question for the topic has been long since answered. And I do not want to leave this poen as it may lead to the thing it is talking about. And that was stopped, and stopped for a reason. So to try to prevent that from starting up again I am gonna close this now.
