Matoran Sets, Part 3, Read and make a difference. Options

This was sent to me by BZPower member Huta. He wrote it up and the petition was his idea. You can find my original idea here. So please comment there and ONLY post here if you are signing. This will hopefully give Lego an idea of the people who want these sets. I'm going for 200 signatures before I send. Please help! One thing I want to add - these sets would fit into the upcoming 2005/2006 storyline, when the story shifts back to the Toa Nuva and Turaga. So even if it would nat make sense to release them soon, it eventually would.

As we are heading into the Metru Nui saga, we have to collect a whole set of new Matoran, with totaly new body shapes. The original Matoran, the '01 Matoran, sets 1388 Huki, 1390 Maku, 1389 Onepu, 1391 Jala, 1392 Kongu, and 1393 Matoro were only available to a very few at McDonalds across the country. Most of the people involved in BIONICLE now were either too young to be interested back then, or didn't know about BIONICLE. The people interested then have largely moved on to new subjects, such as dating and driving. The people that would have been interested had little or no chance to collect them. The only Matoran in this form that was available to the mainstream was Naparu, in 8556 Boxor. A small amount of Matoran were also available in the 8546 Bionicle Power Pack. The Matoran that were released this year are, 8581 Kopeke, 8582 Matoro, 8583 Hahli, 8586 Macku, 8585 Hafu, and 8584 Hewkii. Takua and Jaller are available in sets 8595 Takua and Pewku and 8594 Jaller and Gukko. However, no matoran from the villages of Le-Koro or Ono-Koro are available, and no bodies in green or black. The best selection of different villages, or Metrus in this case, are the upcoming sets, 8607 Nuhrii, 8608 Vhisola, 8609 Tehutti, 8610 Ahkmou, 8611 Orkahm, and 8612 Ehrye. However, instead of the forms that are being released now, '03, that will be the predominant forms that will be the forms seen in either '06 or '07, when we revert to modern times on Metru Nui, with the Turaga, Toa Nuva, Takanuva, and the Matoran. Gukko is a member on BZP, and he came up with the great idea mentioned at the top of this message. Here are his exact words. "I started this topic as an idea I had after seeing so many member’s replies to the new sets and after speaking to my friends about the upcoming storyline. It seems as though what a lot of people want are NEW MATORAN. So I had this set idea: DESIGN One set is made for each village. The sets are called “Ko-Matoran,” “Le-Matoran,” “Ga-Matoran,” etc. Each set comes with the pieces to make three Matoran. For instance, take the “Ta-Matoran” set. It comes with pieces to make a set of red, orange, and yellow bodies as well as red, orange, and yellow feet. Also three masks (I will explain these later on). For anyone who does not know how to do combinations, this set can make 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 different Matoran, but only three at one time. Here are the different sets and colors they would include for feet, bodies, and masks. Ko-Matoran White (Kopaka mask color) Light gray (Nuju mask color) Sand blue (Matoro mask color) Ga-Matoran Bright blue (Gali mask color) Medium blue (Nokama mask color) Dark blue (Hahli feet color) Le-Matoran Green (Lewa mask color) Light green (Matau mask color) Teal (Kongu mask color) Po-Matoran Brown (Pohatu mask color) Tan (Onewa mask color) Burnt orange (Hewkii mask color) Ta-Matoran Red (Tahu mask color) Orange (Vakama mask color) Yellow (Jaller mask color) Onu-Matoran Black (Onua mask color) Dark gray (Whenua mask color) Purple (Onepu mask color) COLLECTIBLE Each set would come with three masks. The Ta-Matoran set described above would come with one random red Noble mask, one random orange Great mask, and one random yellow mask of any design. This would make it possible to achieve collections of complete red, orange, and yellow masks. Many have been clamoring for Matoran Mask Packs, but I personally thought they would never catch on. But they would be right at home here. CREATIVITY With this set, many different Matoran – all of them, in fact – would be possible to make. Haven’t all of us always wanted to make our own Tamaru, Kotu, or new style Onepu and Kongu? These sets would make it possible. I have already stated that 27 Matoran can be made from each set. Imagine if you have all six villages. That is 27 x 27 x 27 x 27 x 27 x 27 Matoran possible. It comes out to 387,420,489 Matoran. And then, just imagine, you add some additional masks from your own collection. 387,420,489 x 5 = … You get the idea. Billions of Matoran are possible. This set caters to all. MOCers – Lots of new colored parts including hip joints, Bohrok arms, Matoran feet, and masks. Many new pieces at a cheap price. Storyline-followers – I know that a lot of people really want to have real official Matoran in their games. And now that the MNOLG2 is up, this point becomes extremely relevant, with almost 100 real named Matoran to make. Players – Extreme playability is offered with these sets. In addition to creating and mixing their own personal characters, the versatile pieces and colors in the sets would surely lead to many great creations. Collectors – These sets would offer 144 new Kanohi to collect. (12+6+6 in each set, six sets). Because they would be so hard to get, there would be a roaring trade for them in the marketplaces. Masks like lime green Miru, orange Kakama, and yellow Matatu would be traded. PROFIT FOR LEGO Face it – Lego is losing money. These sets would be an excellent way to get back money. Each normal Matoran costs $3.99. These sets would have three Matoran and cost $14.99. They would also not include Kolhii Staffs, so Lego would save on that too. The extra money in each set would cover the cost of making old pieces in new colors. I am sure that fans would be eager to pay $3.00 more if they got lots of new colors. As a bonus, each set would come with instructions with a Matoran Kaita. Many kids would buy multiples of the set for MOCs or villages, or to collect and trade more of the masks. The key to this is NEW MASKS – we kids are intelligent. We know when a mask is recycled, and know that generally more different ones is better. We have all seen the 2004 Matoran. And we want Lego to know that dazzling us with odd new pieces is not the answer. Many of us have not gotten the 2003 Matoran yet, and now have to worry about new ones. These sets are the answer. Pizzaz? I didn't see anything overlooked, and we want it as simple as possible, so LEGO is more likely to accept it.

This is a great idea, although it would make collecting the masks even harder than the Shadow Kraata. Oh well, it's still better than I could come up with, and after the Kraata I'm getting used to this sort of thing. I do think you'll need more than 200 signatures, but on BZP, that shouldn't be a problem.
