Dear GregF,

I've recently been researching about Mata Nui; his physical form, his care toward the universe, etc. I've noticed a few clues that have led me to a single question

clues:
The man on the Ignika has outstreched arms and is to iustrate Mata Nui
Mata Nui is (physically) the strongest being in the Matoran Universe
Mata Nui needs the Matoran to work to keep strength

So, here is the question:

Is/was Mata Nui holding up the Matoran Universe?

A few other clues to support this:

The Matoran working keeps Mata Nui strong (them working=more energy for Mata Nui to hold up the universe
Tren Krom also was physically strong
The G.C. was a huge tremor (could be Mata Nui falling from his coma and dropping the Universe (would also explain why most of the damage happened around Karda Nui, like Voya Nui separating, stalagtites falling, versus an earthquake on Destral) that happened when poisoned)

Let me ask one back -- given that Tren Krom was within the universe the entire time, in the core, how could he "hold up" the universe? If I put you inside a giant basketball, could you then hold up the basketball?

With telekinesis or feeding energy to a support

What proof is there that Mata Nui can do either? We have never stated he has either of those powers.

Well is there any way that Mata Nui did his job differently than Tren Krom? I know that they did their jobs in different locations,but is there any different way they did their job?

Also, was Mata Nui in the UC prior to his 'infection'?

Okay, was it that Tren Krom was s[ecially designed to do his job from the UC while Mata Nui was designed to do his from... wherever?

The major difference between TK and MN is that the universe TK was looking after was nowhere near as large and complex as it eventually became. TK could not oversee the universe as it is now.

I got an analogy at what I'm trying to get at:

You have a flower vase (Universe) that you want to put in your house. You set it down on a tray (Tren Krom) that screws into the bottom. (UC) However, you can't fill it with too much soil (islands, etc.) without breaking the tray. So, you begin to build a nice oak desk (Mata Nui) to support it more. After you finish the desk, you move the vase there.

Anyway, onto some non-Mata Nui questions:

1. For the Hagah serial, could you give Bomonga a Shelek since he is quiet all the time? Or a Volitak?

2. Were Mazeka and Vultraz rivals before becoming an Order member and a Shadow Matoran?

Personally, new masks are better than old masks. I'm just glad he decided to do that; it never hurts to get more Kanohi powers added to the list.

1) Now that Icarax is de-evolved, would it be safe to assume that given this new pain, he would be cursing Teridax's name further?
1a) Does he still have control over all 42 Makuta powers, which are by no means undiminished?
1b) Could he still create Kraata?
1c) As his body is now armor and muscle, would he no longer be able to use a Tridax Pod in the conventional Phantoka way? (Tridax Pod in the chest cavity)
1d) Given his new pain, would he turn it all into unfettered wrath and inconsolable hatred, hatred for Toa, Matoran, fellow Makuta, Teridax's Plan, and of course Teridax himself?
1e) I figure this because Icarax's real worst enemy is himself, what he hates most of all, hating himself for following Teridax's Plan, but given his pride and arrogance, he wouldn't do himself in to end his pain, because death to someone like Icarax would be like a coward's escape, and Icarax does not at all seem the cowardly type. But death in battle would sound like a much more feasible way to go, so the way I reckon, I imagine that Icarax would focus all his pain, anger, and hate to the point where he'd burn with the desire to destroy as much as he could: Toa, Matoran, Makuta et al., anything that lives and breathes enough for Icarax to exert his rage upon. Am I getting warm?
2) Since the destruction of the Shadow Leech Hive, how many Shadow Leeches are still alive in terms of how many Tridax Pods they could fill? (given four leeches per pod)
2a) Do the Phantoka Makuta still have their Tridax Pods with any sort of Leeches in them, or has that supply completely expired?
3) Which is your favorite Mistika Makuta?
4) Given Makuta can spawn Kraata from their essences, they could also absorb Kraata back into themselves, right?

1) Irrelevant. He already didn't like Teridax, but it still comes down to, can he offer a better plan than Teridax can? If he can't, his personal feelings toward Teridax won't matter to the rest of the Makuta.

1c) No, it's fitted into the armor and ejected from the armor, so he can still use it.
1d) If he lets it get the better of him, he'll lose.
1e) No. Icarax doesn't hate himself for not following the plan -- he thinks it's a bad plan. And if he just kills everyone in sight, what would be left for him to rule?

I do like new masks myself though some people might find it confusing.

Any parcticular reason why you picked the ideas for the serials that you did? Ex. Like why the Toa Hagah and the war? Just curious.

Well, war only makes sense -- we are coming up to the end of this chapter of story, time for the war to happen. As for the Hagah, that was because I knew a lot of fans wanted to see more of them.

When awake, Mata Nui is responsible for the domed universe. He has no control of or responsibility for the planet around it.

so when we go outside the domed universe... mata- nui isen't there?

He has no power over that area, no. Think of it like this -- you have an RC car and a remote. So you control that car. But if someone goes and looks at the rest of the racetrack, you have no control over any of that.

Not in the Matoran universe. As for the rest of creation, the Great Beings certainly had the power to make more, but there's no proof they ever did.
