FAO Schwarz is one of the most famous toy stores in the world. Their flagship store is located on 5th Avenue in New York City. Today I decided to visit this fantastic store, and took pictures of the LEGO displays for you to enjoy. Read on if you want to be impressed.

I went to FAO once a few years back. You should have seen the display then. There was a six foot tall statue/set of Tahu, comlete with gears on the back! There were rows upon rows of Borok, toa, and rahi. I bought Kopaka, Nuvohk, and Galohk. IN the lobby, there was this music that drove you insane if you listened too long. *Faint memory of beating on the stuffed animals, trying to get the song out of head* rolleyes.gif

I remember going to FAO Schwarz in Chicago, some years before Bionicle came out. That is one nice, if expensive, toy store.
And BR, you've already got three WMKKs and an SSKK! Leave some on the shelves, why don't ya! (Just joking. It's not like I would have found that one if you hadn't. I live in NC, and have no plans to go to NY any time soon.)

With all those Borhrok kal it seems like finding a WMKK is like picking an apple off a tree. Wish I could go there. But I would need to take a train to get there.

Wow, FAO Schwartz is amazing. IF I ever get out of Australia, that is one of the first places in the states I'm going. And you found a WMKK, you lucky guy. If I was from Noo York ( wink.gif ) I'd have searched all those Kal canisters already!

ooh I went there when i visted the Big apple, it seems kind of strange seeing that giant teddy bear again smile.gif When i went, I was looking for Kal, but that was last summer, so I didn't have any luck sad.gif ,but they had a tun of Millenuems (sp blink.gif ) slizers and of cource I got a few smile.gif
The actual bionicle dissplay (when i went) was actualy pretty naff, I had just a small ilel, and a few dissplay stands. But they've oversly done it up a bit, with the Kal and all happy.gif

Oh noooo.....Man..shoot!!!!
I was there twice in the past two weeks, and found nothing...very sad.
Oh well.
yeah BR is right! it's so nice there, the selection is big, the displays are nice, just when you enter the lego section they even have the rahi on display!
And the shoe section is nice, it was the first time I saw the shoes up close. Of course I am too old for them but that ok, maybe one day I'll get my little brother a pair! LOL.
But my favorite was the video screens!!
the bad thing...$3 for a Krana Kal pack, ouch the mark up!! LOL

Cool article! Last time I've been to that store was when I was but a widdle widdle boy... I know I bought a lego set when I was last there, but which type it was evades my memory...

Anyway, I disagree with you that it is the Ultimate Bionicle Retail Experience.
Mine would DEFINITALY be TRU in Times Square when I got a Vahi. The Video Screens with exclusive Bohrok clips and the Movie Masks with the movies too!
Although the displays weren't as good, wait another week, and meet GregF, and the other Comic people! See if ol' overpriced FAO can compete with that!

Another thing, there is a FAO in my hometown, do you know if the display is extensive in stores other than the flagship?

Man, you Americans are so lucky. Having a toy store like that. In Scotland, the only descent toy stores are Toys'R'Us. All the rest got bought out by them. The best Bionicle display I've ever seen was just a case with a row of Kanohi on it. sad.gif We never get any coll promotions either. Like WMKK and free Matoran. Wish I lived out there.

I would agree with you had I been to both stores about 15 months ago when the comic signing promotion was going on. However, I was at TRU Times Square yesterday as well, and everything that you remember (the masks, the videos, etc) are gone. There are no more Bionicle displays at all. In fact, the only LEGO sculptures left are a Statue of liberty and a giant yankees cap.

Quite disappointing compared to FAO.

I don't know if the other FAO locations are as lavish as this one. Probably not, since everything is more upscale in NYC.
