The Bionicle movie scheduled to follow the Mask of Light had been postponed for one year according to this press release which was distrubuted at the MoL party and at LEGO.com.

D'oh! The release dates for both were so close. That's probably why they did postpone it until 2005-if the release dates are further apart then the hype from the first movie should tide over until late 2004, when the hype for the new movie is just about to begin!

Hey, personally, I don't care about that movie. I mean, MoL is going to be great, but why get all exited about some movie that will come out in two years! I'm not going to worry about it until MoL is released and done with.
Crankenstine, a year can go by preaty slowly if you waiting for something. It takes forever for just the Bionicle Comics to reach me, and they arn't nearly as far off as this movie. Anyway, some people can't even handle the time it takes for school to be over.

Great,i was expecting spider-man 2 and the bionicle movie.
But now this happens. Oh well. 2005 comes out Jurassic Park 4,Hulk 2,Star Wars Episode 3 and Indiana Jones 4. So it will have a bigger release date along with these films. --------------------  |

yeah that's true that some people will see those movies instead of bionicle. But these movies are already having scripts written. As we speak Steven Spielberg is working on JP4 and IJ4 and George Lucas is working on SW already. But on topic. the movie being postponed is still pretty bad. 2005?! 2005?! noooooo!!!!!!! i was soooo looking forward to that release! aw man! o well, it won't be so bad i guess. At least we don't have to go c the "Mask of Light" in the theatres, then wait a whole year to see it again when it would come out on DVD. we'll have that movie to keep us occupied.

They might not have pushed it back a full year.
If I remember correctly, the theatrical release was originally slotted for the Fall of 2004. That is usually a really tough time for any movie to come out as there is a great deal of competition at the theaters. I don't know when the movie is scheduled for release now, but it could quite possibly be in the Winter of 2005 -- just a few months after its original release date. Winter is a much easier time-slot to release a movie than Summer or the holiday season. Oh, and don't be surprised to find essentially the same story on Mask of Destiny tomorrow. I typed it all up and scheduled it for first thing Saturday before BZP sent me an email about it and I came here to check it out. I read the new date when Purple Dave posted the press release on the 19th, but I forgot to highlight it until I re-read the press release at LEGO.com earlier today. If you have not done so already, go check out the high resolution banner that accompanies the press release at LEGO.com. I think perhaps that the amount of money invested in the theatrical release relative to Mask Of Light might have more of an influence on the quality of the CGI, rather than the technological advances between the movies. -------------------- RedQuark

Yep, very true. It'll be interesting to see what the actual release date is.
Its funny, because I did the exact same thing. I received the press release in the goodie bag from the party on the 18th, but didn't notice the change in date until I read it second time later that night. In fact, I was talking about the second movie with a LEGO employee at the party (who will remain anonymous  ) and he mentioned the movie would be coming out in 2005. I accepted it at the time, but hadn't really thought about it. The press release confirmed the spoken fact. One would think that such a change would receive more prominence, but it did not. |

All that I can say is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I had my money all set asside to buy the DVD and I don't even have a DVD player. There must be a very good reason. I guess they might want to release some of the characters in models first before they release it. I WANT MY MOL MOVIE this year

A few things could have happened here.
The first is that it could have been moved a few months later, as Mark of MoD said, or it could be much longer. Either Lego has decided this because they are behind schedule (I doubt it) or they want to make it EVEN better than what has been planned. Based on Lego, I would think (and hope) the latter. Personally, I am not too dissapointed, just excited for MoL!
No one has much info on the 2005 movie, just the MoL for this year... Offtopic: Makuta Maximus, I don't know if you will see this, but DO NOT DOUBLE POST! USE THE EDIT POST FEAUTRE INSTEAD. Three things will determine the quality of the theatrical movie. As Mark of MoD pointed out, money is number one. Number two is the number of person-hours, which we just found out is probably going to be more now. Three: Miramax Studios.
