My MOL Review
Animation: Perfect. It fits just perfectly. It stays true to the figures. When I watched it, I totally forgot what the toy versions looked like. But the frozen bohrok could've been better.What I liked the most was the look of Makuta's Lair. The pillars, the kraata, makuta, shall I say more? 9/10 Story: I felt that it was really rushed. Takua and Jaller left Ta-Koro, and BOOM! They're in Le-Koro.Could've put some footage between those scenes. The ending felt very rushed too. Not very much of an ending, if you ask me.It could've been longer. 70 minuites just isn't enough.But it beat the Kal storyline, that's for sure.But thank goodness that it wasn't 'juniorized'. 6/10 Voices: Pretty good. Kopaka sounded like a young, Solid Snake lol. Tahu was really good, just as I thought it was. But Onua, he sounds like one of those autobots off transformers.Gali's voice fitted pretty good. Not like I thought it was, but ok. Lewa's voice was perfect with all the tree-speaking.But Takanuva sounds too young. When I first heard him, he sounded like a girl LOL! 8/10 Music: AWESOME. The music is sweeeeeeet. Just what you would expect in a Bionicle movie. Nuff' said. 10/10 Action: Could've been better. But the fights in Onu-Koro were the best. The fight between Takanuva and Makuta could've been way better. It was just weird with Takanuva jumping off pillar to pillar doing his spider-man impression. 7/10 Overall About 8/10. Everything was ok, not what I expected. But it's still good to watch every once in a while. -------------------- ![]() **The Adventures of Tahu Nuva and Co: Updated 4/18/06!** Credit To RZ For The Chibi Used In My Avatar! |

Well, I only got the treat of seeing a few minutes of the movie here and there. I was at the Mall of America today, where they have a LEGO imagination center, complete with video monitors. I have read many reviews saying how it is more of a kid's movie than anything, and it seems that LEGO could have done a much better job. Now, those of you reading this review remember: I am going by the reviews of others and by five minutes of movie. This is probably not a very reliable source. Anyway, if they're going for an audience young enough that they have to turn the final battle into a soccor tournament, it seems they could use more easily understood words than herald. When I was five, I thought that the only use for that word was the name of an angel holding a big trumpet. I saw Jaller and Takua climbing a cliff, discussing the fact that Onu-koro had been "taken" by the Rahkshi. Jaller says that they are "not seeking the mask, but the herald." Come on, guys...LEGO has seriously lost my confidence as far as storyline goes. First, they almost completely drop the storyline. Comic 14 was terrible. They are battling the Rahkshi, then suddenly they end up under Kini-Nui with the Rahkshi. A big light comes, Takanuva appears, and it skips the whole Rahkshi defeat. We next find them done with the Ussanui. Takanuva races down to Makuta's lair, and that's the last we hear from him. PATHETIC! Now we get LEGO making a five-year-old's movie, and using at least 4rth grade vocabulary...
The only thing I really like about the MoL is the animation. The Rahkshi are amazing! Although they are much weaker than they should be, and the dialogue surrounding them (mainly from the toa) is so corny that it wouldn't look out of place in a Scooby-Doo movie, their bodies are astonishing. I love the way they open their mouths, and the hideous slugs of evil stick out... Anyway, from what I've seen, I give the MoL a 3/5. The five points possible: *Background info and story (exposition) *Animation and graphics *Dialogue (lines) *Character realness (I always pictured Jaller as a brave, noble soul, not one to have a head twice the size of his body) *Action The stunts are pretty cool, (we can now officially call our beloved toa of water "grasshopper gali") and the toa put up a nice fight, so I give them an action point. Character realness...I can't really judge there, as I only saw a few characters, so I gave them that point for free. The dialogue stunk. CORNY! Negative 1 point for that. Animation kicks some serious tail! Plus one point for that. And background info...I didn't see the beginning, but I'd assume that they'd have to do some sort of explaining there, so I gave them that, too. Honestly, right now, I'm not sure if I'm even going to get that movie. It LOOKS sweet, but it sounds terrible...gee, a final battle that's a...kohlii match. How exciting. -------------------- weal0605@stcloudstate.edu

I kind of liked mol but see now what is the point of getting sets like makuta, takua
and pewku or the rahkshi. The movie takes away imagination, which is what lego is all about. And the movie had really bad voice acting. Over all I give it an 8. -------------------- ![]() Anatidaephobia: The fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. Well, I give it a four out of five......... It was really cool, although I think that they should have done a different voice for Onua...... To quote my friend jupiter27:

[SIZE=1][FONT=Courier][COLOR=green]I rate MoL:
Plot: 8 The plot pretty cool. It flows very smoothly into the Bionicle plot. It also has many surprises and excitement. Though the plot is sort of cheesy, this movie is pretty good for Bionicle fans and non-Bionicle fans. Voices/Dialoge: 7.5 The voices were okay. Lewa Nuva's was weird at first, but you'll get used to it. The Matoran voices were "teenage" voices which didn't come out to be as I thought it would be. The dialoge was also sorta of cheesy, but interesting to see how a toy's voice comes to life. Graphics: 10 The graphics are great! It's amazing to see lifeless toys to come alive! The enviorment is also amazing if you focus on it. The summarry is... THE GRAPHICS RULE! Music: 9 The music is great. A perfect match for Bionicle! I was thinking that some other music would work, but now that I think of it, the music it GRRRRRREEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!! Total: 8.5 The whole movie is great (even with the cheesy parts). Even with the cheesy parts, this is a GREAT movie! Go buy and watch it if you haven't seen it! Lego did a great job on this movie! -------------------- Play MNOG II today! I don't really feel like crankin' out a huge review, so here are my thoughts of lego's first movie.
Frist of all, the bad. WAY beter. They were basically just the toa jumping around and occaisonally blasting the rahkshi. The final one with Takanuva and Makuta was pretty good, though. But, come on, couldn't they have been better? A bit more sword fights, a few more shoot-outs, and some Kung-fu is all i'm asking for. Tahu's power seemed low, all he did was shoot tiny rays through the ground, and pohatu didn't even use his. That said, the good This movie was awesome! It was almost everything I had hoped for and more. Good, appropriate music, nice voices, good graphics, good story, good movie. The characters all got a great makeover for the movie, and the kohlii game was sweet. The humour was pretty good (better than a long, solemn movie) and I liked Pewku. The rahkshi were especially well redone, with the hissing and the shreiking and the *GLYVEN*! -------------------- |

My two widgets:
Overall, it rocked. I've watched it maybe eight or ten times now. Stuff I really didn't like:
Stuff I've gotten used to:
Stuff I loved: Just about everything else!
I think LEGO should have left in the cut scene where Makuta reminisces about what he's done before. And parts of it were unclear. I had to read the book to realize that it was Makuta's half of Takutanuva that revived Jaller, and that Takanuva switched masks with him when they fell into the protodermis. Some things needed more explanation. But the way the Toa prevailed by forcing the villain to see the light, rather than simply overpowering him, was fabulous. Of course, they treated us to wonderful action scenes first! I recommend it highly, if you couldn't tell. -------------------- GaliGee's Stories Redux

Wel, I shall tell you why NOT to buy the Dutch version (I hired it).
The dutch version ruined it by the voices, and the way of speaking... In the place of "Hot air, as they say", it was "fried air", without even an as they say! Then in the beginning of the movie, when they told the legend, it was something like "In the time, before our time", or "Now Makuta was free to spread his shadows, and that's what he did!" There where lot's of references with the way of talking and voices (Jaller sounded like "a cool guy") in the dutch movie... Well, the movie was really great! There was not really a reference, exept these voices, and from time to time things not really... storylinish. -------------------- Wobble wobble wobble.
