Very, very nice. The body and arm are my favorite parts both for the design and the shiny glare you added to them with those white parts. The coloring style is nice as well.
I have two problems with his Hau, though- First, are those eyes just a bit misaligned with the mouth? They seem a bit too far to the left side of the mask, and possibly a bit tilted as well... Also, while it's not overly important, I think it might look better if you made the slits on the side of the mask a bit more defined. -------------------- |

...wow, really? *sigh*
Love the SBemail reference, dude. Anyway, I love the art. The mask is phenominal, and the arm and hand look great. The way you've done the highlights is great too. My only (minor) gripe is that his stomache looks a little strange, but that may just be me. ... Better now? |

I know where you're coming from. Most definitely. So I will take the time to review this juicy pic of 2001 goodness.
Most of the flaws have already been pointed out, but I do want to add that I liked the almost CG-ish style you incorporated into this. Revamping a classic feel. Nice stuff. Personally, I have no qualms about the color scheme, as it has the Tahu-y feel. The edge of the Hau seems a little too faded to me- makes it look soft, not hard like protodermis- but I don't know if that was intentional or not. And of course, the lighting is just plain win. It really evokes the mysterious feel of '01. -Raia- -------------------- ![]() <but i believe> |

Its very similar, my apollogy for the bad example, to when the Master Chief puts on his Helmet in Halo2 for the first time. I'm glad it turned out as a good defining moment. QUOTE My favourite part has to be the light shining through the slits in the Hau, adding onto the mistery going on. It's really something. Unfortunately its the only point where I can critique the piece and I am picky doing so, but anyway: Unless his hip is as small as the set-version Tahu's, a small bit of the holes in his mask would not be shone through. Just to the left, a bit of black maybe. But thats it. Yeah, I messed up with the spacing, but otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the holes, which are indistinct enough already. To be honest, while I can see that the mask is not perfectly proportioned, and some sections of it like the eyes are not symmetrical, and the slits could use some outlines, it really doesn't detract from the overall look of your picture. The way you drew Tahu makes him look like a movie version of the old set, or at least himself from Bionicle: The Game. Plus, the colors blend much more evenly. The hand also looks fairly true to the movie's hands, which is good, since Bionicles haven't had actual hands until Hydraxon came out. Yus, a lot of my stuff comes out looking like the game, because it's a mix between the sets, movie, and first three comics. Which is my current favorite mix. So thanks. -------------------- |
