A lot of questions have come up lately about Gali, whether or not she is Takua's mother (see topic by Toa Nuva vs Makuta in Bionicle Storyline & Theories), and speculation about her love life. To clear up all the rumors, I used my Ga-Koronan connections to get her mobile phone number. I reached her during a rare moment of relaxation, and Gali was gracious enough to spend a few minutes talking with me.
 An Interview with  Gali, Toa of WaterGaliGee: Thanks for agreeing to answer a few questions. You have a lot of fans at BZ. Gali: Thanks. Things have been pretty grim on Mata Nui lately. We can use all the encouragement we can get around here. GaliGee: So, some have suggested that Takua the son of you and Tahu. Is this true? Gali [laughing heartily]: What a cute idea. Takua is definitely like a son to me. But he isn't REALLY my son! GaliGee: You can check out some funny stories theblindman2 and I wrote about how that could have happened on BZcommunity.com. Gali: That would be fun. I think the Onu-Koronans are trying to get us wired for broadband, but they have gotten sidetracked fighting Bohrok and building boxors. GaliGee: But are you and Tahu really an item? Gali: Do you seriously think we have time for that sort of thing? Ever since we landed in the ocean, we've been fighting Rahi, finding masks, fighting Makuta. After the battle with Makuta, we barely had time to pop the top on a cold one before a Ta-Koronan came up panting something about the Bohrok. Besides, the other Toa are like brothers to me. GaliGee: ARE you really brothers and sister? Gali: Actually, we don't know. We don't know who our parents are! GaliGee: But if they aren't your brothers, and after you wipe out the Bohrok, which Toa would you be consider being romantically involved with? Gali: Well, I've never really thought about it. Hey -- you aren't going to print an article with a bunch of gossip in it, are you? Because if it's one thing I can't stand, it's muckraking journalism! GaliGee [glancing nervously out the window at the gathering storm clouds]: Of course not! But would you please tell us a little about how you get along with the other Toa? You know, the nature of your friendship and all? We fans would love to hear more. Gali: Well, let's start with Lewa. He's like a little brother to me. You know, full of energy and ideas, playing in the treetops, getting into trouble. Thank the Great Beings Onua is around to bail him out! If it weren't for dear Onua -- GaliGee: So you're sweet on Onua? Gali: Hey! No! That's not what I meant! If Onua weren't there, serving as Lewa's guardian angel, no telling where he would be now. Onua's not a very flashy hero, but he will go into any kind of nasty situation to save a friend. Anyway, Lewa has really come around. At first he didn't want to hang around any of the rest of us (though, bless his heart, he did save me from a nasty swamp Rahi anyway). But he was the first to get his Golden Kanohi, and then he helped the other Toa find the rest of their masks, when he wasn't busy protecting Le-Koro. GaliGee: Could Lewa be the one? Gali: Very funny. GaliGee [jumping at the loud thunderclap] Uh, sorry. OK, what about Tahu? Gali: Tahu is a real source of unity and leadership for the rest of us. And he's there for his friends in the nick of time, too. Once I was surrounded by Rahi, and I prayed to the Great Beings for strength. And they sent it -- in the form of Tahu and his firesword! GaliGee: What a heroic rescue. I bet that really made your heart pound -- [climbing onto dresser as floodwater fills the room] -- er, I mean, the danger and all. And Kopaka? Gali: Some think Kopaka is cold and distant. But I know that inside, he loves those villagers so much he would risk his life for them. He's just reserved and thoughtful. What a gentleman. GaliGee: Wow, I bet Kopaka would look great in a tuxedo. [Flinching at sound of house being ripped off its foundation by wall of flood water] -- Uh, Pohatu? Gali: Pohatu makes me laugh. He is so funny, strong, and encouraging. And he is really a sweetheart. GaliGee: Aha! Now we know who -- [climbing onto roof] Oh, Gali, I'm sorry. I'll just say in my article that you politely declined to talk about your personal life. Gali: That's better. Telling the truth is always a good idea. GaliGee [climbing up ladder into Coast Guard helicopter]: On another note, some of us Gali fans are wondering whether you got hit by lightning in the movie in your bio on bionicle.com. Is that -- [jumping as helicopter is struck by lightning] -- oh, I never mind. Uh, thanks for talking with us. Gali: You're welcome. Give my best to the BZ members. GaliGee [noting with relief that sun has broken through the clouds]: I will. Gali: Well, I've got to go. I'm supposed to meet with Pohatu in a few minutes. We're going fishing, for Tahnok. GaliGee: Thanks again. Gali: No problem. Behave yourself! [click] So there you have it, folks, no wedding bells in the works for Gali (yet). This has been GaliGee reporting.
