The Tale of Karetao

Before the Boxor…before the Bohrok…before the Toa Kaita…No one has seen the Manas…and survived.   Save one…Karetao.

Karetao was a headstrong and courageous warrior of his humble village.  Unlike most inhabitants of his type, Karetao was left-handed, and wielded his axe as such.  One fateful day, Rahi sacked his village, and Karetao angrily pursued the fell beasts, until he was hopelessly lost in a deep cave system.
Karetao unwittingly found himself in the lair of the fearsome Manas, who fell upon him with their superior strength.  He fought bravely, but to no avail – he was outnumbered and out powered.  

With one last mighty swing, Karetao drove his axe into the center of a Mana, causing it to explode.  The steaming acid spewed the warrior out of the lair, and when he awoke from his coma, he painfully discovered that his left side had been completely melted away.

A party of Onu-Korans discovered him, taking him back to their underground village to recuperate.  There the once-mighty Karetao met with an intelligent Tohunga known as Nuparu.  Nuparu was able to completely rebuild Karetao’s ruined side, turning him into a cyborg.  

Nuparu also outfitted him with a powerful weapon and a stamina enhancer, as well as virtually impenetrable protodermis armor, taken from the Great Mine.  Karetao’s giant weapon can reduce the strongest of Rahi…yes, even a Mana, into a smoldering depression of the earth.  His chainsaw foot buries itself into the earth to brace him against the kickback, and allows him to travel long distances quickly.

Karetao the Cyborg solemnly lives now to thwart any plan of Makuta and the Rahi…paying him back for the great injury done to him.  His comings and goings are shrouded in mystery, and he often appears in surprising places, only to disappear once more.  With the awakening of the Bohrok, he has been a valuable asset, able to defeat strong swarms.

That's a cool MOC, Kaiapu!  I like the custom mask and his HUGE weapon!  It's cool how you split the body into two parts as well.  Cool!

Also Why did you cut the mask in half?

Ok...  It's getting late, so I'll talk about instructions next time.  The mask is cut in half because he's a cyborg; also, that half of the mask was melted away along with the rest of his body.

As for the avatar, I suppose you can.  You'll have to do some work to make it fit though.  If you want an avatar of just his head/mask, I can make it for you.

Gotta go to bed now...

I only have two problems with it.
1. I dislike the upside down Nuva Armor.
2. The weapon, tho its really cool, is too big for the MOC.
But I love the Kanohi!

1. That's because it's a respirator as well - it's supposed to help him in his endurace, as the story says.

2. In a cyborg, one side is much larger and/or stronger than the other creating that cool "unbalanced" look.

This picture show the backview, and might help you see the construction of the weapon.



It's based on the two black peices of a Bohrok's head.  The dar launcer is meshed in between them with an arm socket on the back.  The swords and armor peices just stick in.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet. It's like Lewa Nuva² with issues. I hope that mask was a double   . I'd go nuts even thinking about doing that to any of my own Kanohi.

For now ill use karetao as my avatar. once i get my next one ill use a pic of karetao in my sig! hehe

SWEET!!! i built the weapon!!(mostly) i still dont have lewa or onua nuva. i might get em tomorrow.

I made an exact replica of ur weapon! cept the nuva parts. i decided that since my dad was comin home to morrow mornin, we could go buy some nuva. and to prepare for that i had to make the main body of the weapon.

i had to fiddle with it, and when i thought it was done, i came online and saw your weapon again. i saw what was rong and fixed it! all i need is the shoulder pads, chinsaws, and bush blades!

Seriously though...  Would any of you want Karetao's half-mask?

Congrats on building the weapon!  You've got the difficult part of it done; the silver stuff just fits right in.

o and the silver parts, i noticed how they fit in cuz i studied the parts for about 30 min before i got it  
anyways, i didnt think he would be able to lift that thing...
it makes the moc even better. but i bet u cant pose it.
and about the mask. though i like the idea of trading it a lot, couldnt someone get lewa hau and just cut it?

Yup. you can, pretty easily, in fact.  You can use an axle (aka plusrod) beneath the sholder armor to lock the gear, or just push the bearings tightly together.  For most poses though, you can balance the weapon on the rest of him, like I've done.

For playing, the arm lifts into a sleek blasting position, allowing you to take aim, and...FIRE!

That's what all custom masks are about!  Just like Zohatu's custom masks, you can do the same thing with some well-placed cuts.  But will you?  Not everyone has the time it takes to make it look good, or has the extra masks, or even wants to.
