My gosh it's taken me like a week to find a time when this topic would actually post. Overview: Well, it's a Matoran obviously (or if I may use the term, a "Tohunga"). Like other members, I've noticed an excessive amount of Toa/Titan-like variances of Tohu. Being my usual non-conformative self I opted for a different approach. One thought I had had was taking the "Heart of BZPower" phrase literally, but as it turns out it was already done (nicely done too Points of Interest: Probably the thing that the most attention should be drawn to is the gearing for the back of the head. Or perhaps I should say lack thereof, seeing as no gears were used to create the effect. I spent a good amount of time trying to find a unique method that looked nice. Many of the gearing setups I've seen didn't look all that compelling to me (no offence to other builders). Plus I wanted something yellow/gold, so that pretty much scratched out actual gears for me. Eventually my eyes settled on a nice small gold tube, and behold it worked. You may also notice that I chose not to put the little tires on his legs/arms as I see most builders who use this style do. I don't know why, but I think he looks better without them (nor do I have that kind of tire anyway The second interesting point actually has little to do with the MOC itself, but rather with the photography. This has got to be my best shot yet. I remember that there was a model a loooong time ago (not sure of the exact date or MOC) on a white background that I had absolutely loved, so I decided to see if I could do something like that too. The big problem was the transparency. For my CG backgrounds, I've typically shot on a bluescreen. Of course, blue pieces don't work well on a bluescreen. Nor do transparent ones on a greenscreen look good with a white background. The solution was actually rather simple - paper. I'm not going to give out the details on the method, but suffice it to say that the translucent pieces and small holes show the original backdrop while the rest is CG'd in. Basically - Tohu is lots of fun. Hey! I did a Matoran Tohu! You thief you. . . . *realizes those who insult Mods end up with a bullet in their backs, floating facedown in a sewer*. . . he he. . .
Anyway, cute little guy here. I especially like the head, with looks the most like the real Tohu out of all the entries I've seen so far. KUTGW! Oh, and uh, disregard the bullet part. BToD -------------------- |

My, my. I had thought about some way to use the tubes to make a Tohu head, but I never really found a way. Very creative! At first, I couldn't figure out what you did, they looked so like the picture...
The feet are nice on this MOC... I don't know why I like them, but I do. The rest is pretty standard for MOCs of this stature, but flows decently well. *applause* ~Tesser -------------------- |

I like it a lot,the color-scheme is original, the gears look nice, and the weapon is good, but i think i remember someone using a very similar design.I just hope you didn't took the design from that.If it isn't,then great!

Not the best, kinda good though. Not really the best color scheme though. The head design isn`t so good either. Just a gold tube built to a circle. The body is okay. The arms are not the best, but okay. The weapon is good. As for the legs, they are pretty good.

It seems like the color scheme is one of those things that you either love or hate. 'tis nice to have a little controversy at times.

XD I like it a lot,the color-scheme is original, the gears look nice, and the weapon is good, but i think i remember someone using a very similar design.I just hope you didn't took the design from that.If it isn't,then great! Like I said, I haven't really looked at the competition yet. Makes things more interesting that way. It's possible that there could be a similar model though, at this scale there are only so many pieces that can be used. Regardless, I don't intend to copy. *shrugs* nice, youve earned my smile for the day! Can you give us more pics, maybe even instructions? I might post some more pics/instructions after the contest is going. Personally I'd rather not reveal the complete build of it until I can guarantee someone else won't start using it. Not the best, kinda good though. Not really the best color scheme though. The head design isn`t so good either. Just a gold tube built to a circle. The body is okay. The arms are not the best, but okay. The weapon is good. As for the legs, they are pretty good. It's actually a bit more complex than simply a tube in a circle (it would show a bit above the head if it were). At the same time, I tried to find something clean and simple that worked well as opposed to some of the bulkier ones that others are using. -------------------- |

Meh, this build is nothing special. I don't feel that the tubes really pull off the effect we were looking for. But, it is, however, still a very cool MOC, and the ice blue is a very cool idea.

I absolutely love this! I'm a sucker when it comes to blue-and-gold color schemes. The way you improvised the "head gears" is phenomenal. The transluecent blue pieces also make it pleasant to look at. The tool, nothing short of brilliant. I wouldn't change a thing about this!
