Or Seymour Duncans. They make some awesome pickups.
I just got this yesterday. Isn't it great? My old Peavey cr***ed out on me and I'm going to a rock camp next week. I don't think you can play in a band and be heard by a hundred people with a 15- watt amp, so I, in turn, got the one in the picture. Woot! I don't know, I stopped solo gigging when I got my GRX20. But I was usually invited to play, and never once got paid. Except by one female member of the audience, lol. Dang. XD Why do I get the feeling you did something else to get the pay...? BTW, we have a band name but I'm wondering whether the name has been taken: Rage Symphony. BTW, once we've recorded our soon to be first single, (we have a few choices) we will create our band website and we'll put a link in here and you can hear it. What do you guys think overall? -k- Nice name. Sounds good. I think it sounds like a good plan for starting off. Oi, guys, can I get your opinions on what I plan to do with money I plan to get from solo gigging and how I intend to go about all this? Summer = about 14 weeks. Places to gig at = two. Cash payed = $500 for one place, N/A on the other. Gigs = Two per week unless unable to make gig due to illness or something similar. Total cash gained = Approx. $10,500(Probably overshot, but it's an estimate with one locations pay unknown). Intended spending of money; $1,540 on a PRS Mira w/ standard neck in Vintage Cherry $1,200 on a Vox AC30 Custom Classic The rest I'll save for...something. Probably leave it in a bank account, let it gain interest. This post has been edited by Necro: Jun 14 2008, 01:36 AM -------------------- |

Yeah, it's for a cross between Slash's sound from pre-1992 GNR and Kirk Hammett's pre-1989 Metallica sound.
I'm doing some serious customizing on this Strat It's not a Fender, but it has an exact Fender headstock, so I'm gonna sand off the logo and apply a Fender decal. -------------------- ♫His pale face tells the story of an unjust life♫ ♫A sickening story of uncomfortable familiarity♫ ![]() ♫The saddened shadow of a man that once was♫ ♫Casts me into disgust♫ |

QUOTE Hrrm...well, for guitar amp(s), I'd recommend a Vox AD30VT. Excellent amp, plus all eleven amp models are spot-on, so the musician can get their stage tone without bringing in their stage amp. Bass amp, a Marshall MB60 bass hybrid combo. Marshall is a good name, so I assume it'll be fine, especially considering, being a hybrid, it should be able to get tube tone or something similar, though you'll likely want G.I.R.'s opinion since he's a bassist. With the mics, guitars, basses and effects, the musicians should be able to bring their own stuff. As for drums, I'm not sure on that one. Well I'm not looking for a new amp since I have 9 speakers and 2 sub-woofers I can plug my guitar into. We don't exactly have a bassist yet but I think I'll ask G.I.R this question: What's the cheapest, half decent, comfortable, 5/6 string and 24 fret (if that's possible) bass I can get? I'll probably just use my GA-15 until I have more money which will cover the amp until then. Oh and another thing, Should I start with a really basic bass before I go on to something really good. I am already very good at electric and bass is only easier, because I've mastered every single technique I know of except for sweep picking which I'd say I'm very close too. Thanks a lot for the info Necro, I'll put it to good use. -k- -------------------- |

No prob.
So, can I get some opinions of my setup and setlist for my gigs? I already got -One-'s opinion via AIM, but I always like to get at least two opinions. Setup; Dillion DR52QX PRS copy -> Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Russia(Possibly to be upgraded to a Big Muff USA after gig pay is cashed) -> Morley Classic Wah(To be upgraded to a Dunlop Classic Fasel Inductor Wah after gig pay is cashed) -> Danelectro FAB Delay -> Danelectro FAB Delay(Second delay added for simulated three-guitar harmonizing) -> Fender Frontman 25R(To be upgraded to a Vox AD30VT after gig pay is cashed) driving a 150-watt 2 x 12 Peavey cab, vocals through a Behringer mic hooked into the PA. setlist(One set); 1. Star Spangled Banner 2. Sunshine of Your Love - Cream 3. Purple Haze* - Jimi Hendrix/Truckin' - Grateful Dead 4. Stairway to Heaven** - Led Zeppelin/Taxman - The Beatles 5. Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles 6. Smells Like Teen Spirit*** - Nirvana/Cocaine - Eric Clapton -Intermission to relax hands, get drink, use bathroom, etc.- 7. Layla(First half only as I don't have a keyboard player) - Derek & The Dominos 8. Paint it, Black - Rolling Stones 9. My Generation**** - The Who 10. Pinball Wizard - The Who ENCORE: More Than a Feeling - Boston/Jumpin' Jack Flash - Rolling Stones/Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan***** * = If I can get my timing on the vocals down. ** = If it sounds fine without a 12-string. ***= If I can be the first person(Besides Cobain, who killed himself in 1994,) to figure out the lyrics. ****= Bass solo improvised on drop D guitar. *****= Whichever one I feel like that night. -------------------- |

@ Necro: Do you have backing tracks or something, 'cause, I just can't see Purple Haze without a backing track or accompaniment of some sort.
Hey all. What do you think of this setlist for my rock camp band? (we play a show at a real venue next week): 1. Time/Breathe(Reprise)-Pink Floyd 2. Roadhouse Blues-The Doors 3. Rocky Mountain Way(our jam-on-it-for-way-too-long-lol song)-Joe Walsh 4. Manic Depression-Jimi Hendrix 5. Misty Mountain Hop-Led Zeppelin 6.I Ain't The One-Lynyrd Skynyrd 7. I shot The Sheriff or No Woman No Cry- both by Bob Marley 8. War Pigs(our epic-ending song)-Black Sabbath Opinions? Suggestions? -------------------- WELL THEN YOU HAVE NO FRAME OF REFERENCE HERE

QUOTE Fixed linky. Thanks, again. It's even got more than I expected. BTW, when we're a little older we will probably be doing some covers before we play any of our own stuff or maybe just do covers with our own material but we only use official tabs. What does everyone recommend? Here's a list (of hard rock/metal etc.): -Avenged Sevenfold: Beast and the Harlot, Burn It Down, Blinded in Chains, Bat Country, Trashed and Scattered, Seize The Day, Sidewinder, The Wicked End, Betrayed, M.I.A. -Breaking Benjamin: So Cold, Follow, Sooner Or Later, Blow Me Away, Sugarcoat, Polyamorous, Medicate, Water. -Disturbed: Voices, The Game, Stupify, Down With The Sickness, Violence Fetish, Fear, Numb, Want Conflict, Shout 2000, Droppin' Plates, Meaning Of Life, Ten Thousand Fists, Just Stop, Guarded, Deify, Stricken, I'm Alive, Sons Of Plunder, Overburdened, Decadence, Forgiven, Land Of Confusion, Sacred Lie, Avarice. Godsmack: Awake, Greed, I Stand Alone, Keep Away, Running Blind, Straight Out Of Line, Vampires, Voodoo, Whatever. Here's what I was thinking of playing (keep mind of that they are in diff. tuning drops), each are in diff. groups according to tuning. 1. Beast and The Harlot, Bat Country, Keep Away, Branded (Rage Symphony). 2. Ten Thousand Fists, Land Of Confusion, Polyamorous, Medicate. 3. So Cold, Stricken, Follow, I Stand Alone, Medicate. If anyone has any other ideas or changes they think would work better, I'm open to all suggestions. -k- -------------------- |

Lol Koryu, you're playing all of City Of Evil, it looks like. Learn some new Avenged Sevenfold. It's better XD Suggestions for you: Metallica - Stuff from Ride The Lightning through Metallica. Disturbed - Stuff from Indestructible In Flames - Bullet Ride or Take This Life. Yes, those are just songs. Korn - Slept So Long or Forsaken. So then, there's a venue near here that does open mic night, and my band is gonna learn Fade To Black by Metallica for it Hope we do well. This place sponsors good performers lol. Or old Avenged Sevenfold, it's even better than new True Chaotic

QUOTE ok so right now I'm in the process of learning the sound of truth by as i lay dying. It's also Slash's signature style of playing, and his better work. "Beggars and Hangers-On" Is the best example of of his style, also "Neither Can I" and "Lower."

Yah. I have Rick>Wah>Big Muff>amp so, I can get the Cliff Burton sound pretty close. Nice. Wait, you have a Mesa? Sweet. You either misread the word MUFF or assumed I have a Mesa. I wish, lol. Keep in mind, these are all on my RP250, so it's not EXACTLY like a Big Muff. BTW, just asking, have you ever heard Les Claypool's "Whamola!"? Best non-traditional instrument ever, lol. I say lol alot, lol. Also, Xydero, what do I search on you-know-what space to see your band? Nah, I just read on Wikipedia that he used a Mesa. Btw, you should invest in an EHX distortion then. I have their lowest-end model(Nano Muff), and it's versatile despite having only a volume knob(I can go from fuzzy Black Sabbath and Hendrix distortion to soft Tom Petty-ish distortion meant-only-to-add-sustain.) and sounds great, and makes me wonder how good their high-end models are. Plus you can use it with your bass and your guitar. @Nynrah: Suppose every company has it's bad models. Still, that doesn't change the fact they cashed in on Dimebag's death, which would be enough to turn me off from PRS, Fender or anyone. @Chuck: Nice, although I'd still go with the other one for a few reasons; 1. Floyd Rose 2. 24 frets 3. Less money 4. EMG pickups require a nine-volt battery to be replaced occasionally. This post has been edited by Necro: Jun 28 2008, 12:28 AM -------------------- |
