couldn't they put a survey on lego.com to decide if they'll try them again? something like, "which do you prefer?" ()masks ()projectiles ()both
and if masks won the majority of the site, they'd give the masks a try again, like selling this for a limited time and seeing how well that worked.

QUOTE(Katuko @ Jul 8 2008, 02:00 PM) *
I copied the member name list in the first post and pasted it in Notepad. According to the line count, 736 BZP members want the collectibles back. I've not cone through the list to find eventual duplicates.
Sadly, no matter how impressive that might seem, this won't convince LEGO to bring the collectibles back. Only this site's got more than 40 000+ members, imagine how many fans there are in the world. 750 fans are a drop in the ocean to them, and the rest want projectiles. sad.gif

FINALLY! Somebody realizes this! Plus, they had whole WAREHOUSES filled with masks. They didn't sell, they never will sell. And that poll on BIONICLE.com idea would just ruin your chances. The masks aren't gone. If you want recolored masks, buy Mutran or Lesovikk.

-TN05

First: Nowhere in your post do you have any proof that they never will sell. That remark is totally unfounded. Never say never, my friend.

Second: A poll on BIONICLE.com would not ruin any chances. If there is a chance, BIONICLE.com will reflect it far better than this site will, which isn't to say there is any chance at this stage. It never hurts to try.

Third: You have no proof that "the rest want projectiles," just as you are wrong to assume that projectiles and collectibles are an either/or situation. Projectiles don't require many molds, much less many colors of each part, and thus collectibles on top of projectiles is hardly a more dramatic increase in number of parts per year than collectibles in general.

Please, I agree that this topic is worthless at this stage. I agree that the collectibles, if they do return, will do so in the near future. And I agree that we do not need collectibles back for BIONICLE to remain BIONICLE. However, I do not agree with your attitude. Try to exhibit some reasoning instead of merely responding to this harmless wish with an angry backlash and unfounded criticism.

I never said the rest want projectiles. Katuko said that, Aanchir. Get your facts straight. I'm simply speaking be the past results, in which they DID NOT SELL. Try disputing THAT. The past often reflects the future, Aanchir. And the focus groups (which represent LEGO's key audience) turn them down every year. Why? They have Pokemon cards and all those anime card games they spend their money on. Which would they like better, collectible masks that serve no purpose, or a collectible card game that they can play a game with?

-TN05

The only reason I assumed you felt that the rest want projectiles is that you seemed to be wholeheartedly agreeing with the contents of Katuko's post. Since you didn't specify what the "this" was in "FINALLY! Someone realizes this!", it is natural to assume that you were referring to the whole of his concluding statement, no?

In past results, they did not sell. I brought this up countless times in the early days of this topic. But the target audience represents a different group each year, and Greg has indicated that plenty of people at LEGO would want collectible packs back, and thus propose a collectible pack about every year among other potential sets. Explain why the LEGO Group, who have in front of them the data you refer to which has up to now inhibited collectibles, should maintain more hope than you do. Their data does not let them predict the infinite future, and thus there is no justification for giving up hope, either for them or for us.

Your arguments concerning collectible card games and such is more than logical-- it is a mindset I preached back in the day when there were more ridiculously hopeful people to contradict. But nowadays the hype around this topic is for the most part gone, and the only time I have to make a logical dissertation of someone's post is when someone comes along with a hopeless attitude which no data can ever completely confirm.

As I said, I do not expect collectibles to return. I do not need collectibles to return. In fact, however beautiful it seems through the filter of nostalgia, I cannot even say confidently that I personally want collectibles to return-- it was the mood about them that gave me that pristine feeling back in the day, and even I did not purchase many collectible packs in retrospect. If that feeling can ever be restored to the present or future fanbase, good for them, and I earnestly hope that BIONICLE can return to that feeling for at least a few years in the future. But BIONICLE is no less spectacular for what it has lost, since there is at least as much of a distinctive emotion to what it has gained in the meantime.

Thank you for seeing my points, Aanchair. I spent quite a good deal of money on them, and they were O.K. for the time. But eventually I realized that I had no room for them anymore. I really should sell some sometime, but I MoC with them. Anyway, I'm going to stop posting in this topic. I'm not adding to the conversations, so I'll just stop before I'll say anything I'll regret. Sorry if I offened anyone with my comments.

That's 736 names, but 737 is more impressive.
So, put my name on there cause I want to make it 737 names on that petition.

What do you mean "put into motion?" LEGO knows about it; that's all the motion there needs to be (or can be without LEGO's cooperation and independent research).
