And here is yet another chapter, a bit late. Reviews are much appreciated.
--- Chapter 4: “What brings you here?” Human’s Bane demanded. The Queen decided I might be useful, she said, studying her claws. Human’s Bane sighed. He and his whole family were on bad terms, and Queen Xi He knew it. He rubbed his face with his front paw. The Queen’s out to get me. He raised his eyes to the sky. Mother Tiamat protect me. Xi He respects you as one of her best generals, Salazar. He glowered at the use of his birth name. “And speaking of the queen,” Human’s Bane said quickly, “she’ll probably want to be speaking with me.” He turned to leave. Oh, you’re not getting out of this that easily. “Oh, really?” Human’s Bane said, still walking without even turning back. Yes, really. He was thrown backwards toward his mother. He braced himself for the impact of the wall behind her. He never felt it. She suspended him in the air above her. I am definitely too old for this , Human’s Bane thought to himself. This wasn’t the first time his mother had done this to him, though he honestly didn’t expect it to happen to him again. The wyrm under him snarled. I will stop doing it when it stops becoming necessary. “How on the Great Tree is this necessary?!” Human’s Bane demanded. For nearly a thousand years, we heard nothing. “In my defense, seeing as I was trapped as a glass ball,” he stated defensively, “I hardly think it’s my fault.” And yet you contacted the Court to inform them you were alive. “And it was lucky I could communicate that much.” If you could have sent that much, you could have sent more. “After seeing how well our last family reunion went, I didn’t bother. Shall how I remind you how that went?” She snorted and looked Human’s Bane straight in the eye. I remember. He tried to avoid his mother’s gaze. “Then don’t we remember the mutual agreement we made to not speak to one another?” There was no agreement. “I always thought it was somewhat implied by the fact that I’m pretty much disowned…?” That was your own doing. Human’s Bane stared at the ceiling. “So I’m told.” Both were silent. Abruptly, Human’s Bane dropped from mid-air on the ground. His mother turned. You have a meeting to attend. But this isn’t over. Human’s Bane rolled his eyes to the ceiling. Is there someone in this universe who doesn’t hate me? --- There ya go. Not that great, but deal. REVIEWS, PEOPLES! |
