Animus, Sci-fi TBRPG approved by Kex. Options

Cool, an original idea for an RPG! I've sent my PM.

(Fisher) Russel headed down the corridor, where he spotted Joshua with most of the security team.
"Taylor?" he said. "Where's Banon?"
"He's off with the rest of the Recon team." explained Joshua.
"Alright, so apparently the ship is less abandoned then previously thought." Russel said to the team. "We're cut off from the recon craft, and unless by some miracle the crew get's the comm system's working, we can't tell the Animus about our situation. However, since our suits rely on a communication system, we can hopefully contact the Recon team.
"Jennifer?" Russel asked into his headset. "How are things going on your team?"

(Steward) "Sir?" the bridge technician spoke nervously. "An explosion just went off on the other ship.
"What?" Steward shouted. "What happened?"
"We don't know?" replied the technician. "The guys from Engineering still haven't gotten the comm up yet. We have no clue what's going on."
If Steward could remember what profanity was, he would have cursed right about now.

(NPC) The alien floated off across the space between the two ships. As he did, it got a look at the state of the Animus. Much like it's own ship, it had suffered some damage. There was a chance a powerful enough impact would be enough to cripple it permanently. He aimed his staff and fired a few shots, using the momentum to propel himself back to it's ship. Entering through a damaged section, it started heading off, a plan in it's mind.

OOC: Ya know, maybe my standards have been raised, but since Reality, I haven't seen that many great, original RPGs.

Fortunately, the drought may be over. Houston, we have Animus.

OOC: I'd like it if we could keep it to just human characters, for reasons that will get revealed later on in the RPG, although I do admit the Grey Engineer idea would be cool.

IC: Jennifer suddenly recieved a mesage on her comm from Russel, "well, I've lost all but 3 of my teammates, and two of us just narrowly escaped being sucked out in a vaccuum, but one of my companions has found something interesting, some kind of solar furnace more powerful than both of ours" she replied

ooc: Actually, TPtI, if you had paid attention to MY last post, I had posted my character talking to yours. In fact, I have nothing to ic right now, because Im waiting for you to post a reply to that........
And, Atton Rand, why does everyone who is with your character have to specifically say they are with your character? Can't you tell from what's in their posts, or do you not even read them?
Because I thought it was pretty clear that Turient K was with Jennifer in post #82, but maybe that was just me......
Anyway, like I said, I have nothing to ic because im waiting on TPtI, so.......

OOC: How could we? One moment you were receiving orders to go to the ship, and the next you were on the ship with a crew, all in one post. You didn't give anyone who wanted to come along a chance to say 'Hey I want to come along'

but, I agree with you on what you say about what Atton Rand is doing. He's sort of running around trying to do everything himself without even giving anyone else a chance to get in on the action.......

OOC: look, I read your post, but the way you wrote it, I got the impression you were talking to someone else, because you never gave the slightest indication of interaction before that post, no OOC saying you wish to join me, no "he went to the same place as Jennifer" sort of thing, and you never even mentioned her name, and when I was actually looking for people to join me, no one responded, and thus, I naturally thought you were referring to someone else, now look, can we get on with this

OOC: And just in case it wasn't confusing enough, Russel reached the security team in his last post. We can just say that it happened before he showed up, though. I also agree with Atton that we should stop arguing, although I agree with less yelling.

So, are my characters approved or not?

(Got my fingers crossed for the Grey so I can IC a Grey firing at an alien while shouting insults at it)

OOC: I'll you have the Grey character, but otherwise I'd like it we could keep the rest of the characters to being mainly human.

IC:
(Fisher) Russel took a moment to let this sink in. Their first mission, and they'd already lost almost an entire Recon team. If they were going to survive out here, they would have to be more careful.
"Alright, Jennifer, just stay there for now." he replied. "I'm gonna send down some people from Security."
He motioned to a few members of the security team, who headed off down to the Engineering section.
He then looked at the rest of the team.
"Alright, we're going to head up and find the bridge." he explained. "Taylor, I'll need you to guard the entrance when we get there."
Russel glanced towards Greg.
"You're from the Recon team, right?" he asked. "Do you think you can help us get power back online? Once we do that, we'll be able to track that alien using the ship's sensors."

IC: Jennifer looked at her companions, "we have been ordered to remain here for the moment" she said, "they're sending a few security men to help us"'

ooc: When you say bridge, you mean the cabin and all that where navigation, etc. is, right?

ic: "Aye aye, sir," Josh said in response to his orders. He holstered his twin laser pistols and pulled out a laser turret, unfolding it and switching it to 'on'. Then, taking the initiative, he motioned to one of the security officers to follow him and provide him with some cover. He followed with a nod.
They moved quickly down the hallway, down to the intersection of pathways where the creature had disappeared earlier, and set the laser turret near one of the corners. Then, he pulled out the other two, placing them near corners as well. When he was through, he moved back toward where Russel and the rest of the team were.
"Sir," he said, giving him a crisp salute,"I have secured a defensive perimeter with portable laser turrets, which I can move once we decide to head out.".......

OOC: Yeah, that's what I meant.

IC:
(Fisher) "Alright, good." Russel said. "Now, we just have to figure out how to get to the bridge."
"There is one problem: we don't have any clue to the layout of the ship." continued Russel. "However, I would like to offer a solution."
And with that, he aimed his laserr rifle and put a few shots through the nearest window.
"I saw the bridge back when we were looking at the ship on the Animus." Russel explained. "Our suits are equiped with grav-boots that prevent us from floating around on this ship. We should be able to get across the hull and up to the bridge. Follow my lead."
Russel headed out the window, climbing out onto the hull. Keeping his laser rifle aimed ahead of him, he cautiously began to walk along the side of the ship.

OOC: Good. Now, let's see...

IC(Elvis): Elvis had been doing routine checks of the ship's systems, searching every section for something wrong with the ship. It was as he entered a damaged section of the ship that he saw something out of place.

Elvis quickly ducked behind a stack of crates, hoping the intruder hadn't seen him. He quickly sent a message to the Captain through the communications unit on his suit.
"Elvis here! I have an unidentified intruder in Sector 121-B. Requesting back-up, immediately!"
Elvis ended the call without waiting for a response, and looked around the crate stack. The intruder seemed to be looking for something.
"Turn around with your hands up, intruder!" Elvis drew his energy pistol and aimed it at the intruder.

OOC: If no one has any objections, I think I'll start James Andrews off with Atton Rand's group.

IC(Andrews):

"Stay here. You know, you say that like it's a good thing. And who says that security's going to even get here? For all we know, they'll all end up sliced'n'diced halfway here."

OOC: Just a quick question: is the intruder supposed to be the alien the crew encountered, or someone else?

IC:
(Fisher) Russel took a nervous step forward. It was a new and disorienting experience: both this ship and the Animus were sideways, and all around him was the vast blackness of space. It was almost enough to make him loose his balance. He continued on, trying not to look up. Moving to avoid a damaged section of the hull, Russel paused to try and check where the bridge was. Unfortunately, there was still a good amount of distance to go. Sighing audiably, he moved around the damaged section and continued on.

OOC: The alien previously encountered. It was ICed (by you, I think) entering our ship.

OOC: I actually meant he was heading back to his own ship. But don't worry, I can work with this.

IC:
(NPC) The alien turned to face Elivs. He turned, aiming his staff. He shouted something at him, but unfortunately it wasn't in a language he could understand. He fired his staff at the Grey, scorching the wall behind him, and ran off down the corridor. As he did, he took a device off of his belt. He didn't want to wake the others this soon, but with him on this ship, he'd need someone to deal with the humans on his own. He pressed a button on the device, which started to blink.

Meanwhile on the alien ship, lights turned on in one of the rooms. Containment pods began to activate, and about twenty aliens emerged. Knowing the rest of the ship did not have the proper atmosphere, they quickly put on space suits of their own; Four taking the same heavy armor as the first alien, while the others took more regular suits. Arming themselves with energy staffs, they marched out into the ship. The armored ones split up, taking a group out with them, and began to move out along the ship...

(Steward) "We recieved an intruder alert from Engineering." said one security officer. "We think it might have something to do with whatever happened on the ship."
"Then get down there and deal with it." replied Steward, getting up from his chair.
"Sir, I think we should leave a few security member's here." replied the security officer. "Just in case the intruder heads after you."
"Sir, that is an excellent idea." replied Steward, arming a laser rifle. "But whatever gave you the idea I'd be waiting here?"

IC(Elvis): "You dare fire at me!?" Elvis shouted, and followed the intruder. Elvis fired off several shots at the intruder, aiming to kill.

OOC: What does the alien look like? I have something between a Grey and a Xenomorph in mind right now, so I need clarification on its appearance.

OOC: Your Grey/Xenomorph description would be fairly accurate, although none of it's physical features are visible under its armored suit.

IC:
(Steward) Steward, along with a squadron of Security members, stepped out a lift just outside the section where Elvis had reported the intruder.
"Stay close." he said, aiming his rifle. "And keep a close watch. We don't want this thing sneaking up on us."
Up ahead, they could hear the sound of lasers being fired. Steward and the team hurried, and soon spotted the alien firing at Elvis, who quickly returned fire. Steward and his team approached from behind, aiming their rifles.
"Welcome to the Animus." Steward said, aiming his rifle at the alien's armored head. "Put down your weapon. Now."
The alien was less than willing. He spun around, aiming his staff.
"Fire!" shouted Steward, and the Security officers opened fire. Unfortunately, the laser's failed to do much damage, only leaving scorch marks on the creature's armor.
"This could be more difficult than I originally thought." Steward muttered as he fired at the alien.

IC: Greg started tinkering around with the electrics of the ship to see what he could do. Really this was more a job for an engineer, but they didn't have any of them. And Greg did have some knowledge of electrics from working with the ships.

"Let's see what happens if I put this wire and this wire together..."

OOC: alright, I think I can work with that,

IC: "well, I can't garantee that security is going to get here," replied Jennifer, "but we should be safer in here, suddenly she noticed what appeared to be a computer of some sort, after pressing a few buttons on it the screen lit up

OOC: I was thinking more of a mix of a lizard/predator? Xenomorphs are cool though.

IC: Banon turned, seeing the screen turn on. It made a few beeping noises, and a small logo appeared. Soom the screen was filled with rows and rows of alien text. "I can't understand this." he said.

IC: "neither can I" replied Jennifer, "but it could be some kind of menu" she pressed a button, and several rows of text showed up with something she could only assume were dates, "I think this is some sort of log, but due to the language I can't make it out" she said

ic: Josh moved with the rest of the group following Russel, heading toward the bridge of the ship, moving around damaged sections of the hull. The whole time they were moving, Josh had his laser rifle out, scanning the area in front of, and occasionally turning around to look behind him, making sure there were no enemies following behind them.........

OOC: Seeing that everyone else is on the other ship, for continuity's sake, I'll put Arthur there with the rest of them.

IC:

Arthur walked throughout the alien ship, noting the technology. He examined what seemed to be a sort of computer along the hallway to the main bridge. Seems similar enough to ours, but somehow different. I'll need to examine it more.

After noting the computer's interface, and spending a few minutes trying to figure out how to work it, he gave up. "To heck with this." He pulled out a small personal computer, connected it to the alien computer's data port, and downloaded all of the files on it. "This should be worth looking at."

OOC: Is Ori an engineer?

OOC: I think so, let me check... yeah, he's an engineer

IC(Elvis): Elvis took the oppurtunity while the alien was distracted by the Security team, and leapt on its back, taking out what amounted to a screwdriver, and jamming it into one of the joints in the alien's armor. Knowing that the armor had to be weaker there, he first stabbed at it several times with the screwdriver, then jammed his energy pistol into the gap and fired off several shots.
"Behold! I am Elvis, the great!"

OOC: Sweet. So Elvis currently looks like he's gone mad. What features of a Grey does this thing have? The shortness, the smartness, the big eyes, what?

Having no idea of what was happening, Rick simply stayed in the engine room, watching the slowly rising temperatures.

OOC: look, I hope you don't mind me asking you this, but what is a Grey

IC: Jennifer examined the text in what appeared to be a log, she pushed a button and was taken back to the main menu, "strange" she said, she pushed another series of buttons, and on the screen was a few lines of something in alien text, but couldn't make out what it was, then after pushing a few buttons and a map of the ship (at least when it was intact) appeared on screen,

OOC: Greys are the usual conspiracy-theory aliens. You know, the "little green men" that people joke about? Except their skin isn't green, it's grey.

Elvis is a Grey.

OOC: oh, those things, just out of curiosity, why did you want to be one of those

IC: Jennifer looked at the map, she was able to determine that she and her teammates were in a small hangar on the Starboard section of the ship, she traced the hallway to the glass hallway they passed through earlier, but was now smashed, and to the room where she found the strange creature, apparently a passageway was in the very door she opened to suck the creature out into space, another hall she had gone through, only to find empty space at the end lead to this passage, which lead to the command bridge, she activated her communicator and sent a message to Russel, "Russel" she said, "I've just managed to upload a map of the ship when it was intact"

OOC: I'd say they'd have the height of a Xeno (plus the same coloring), but it's basic body shape is like that of a Grey. It's head is something of a mix between the two (Grey's eyes, Xeno mouth). It also doesn't have the tail.

IC:
(NPC) One group of the aliens moved through the ship. One glanced out the window, and spotted Russel's team moving along the hull. It motioned to the other aliens, arming their staff weapons and aiming them at the wall. Once receiving the signal from their commander, they opened fire.

(Fisher) "Alright, good." Fisher said, silently thinking of how much more useful that could have been before they'd headed out onto the hull.
He continued on, when suddenly, laser bursts shot up through the hull, catching several security members off guard. One energy bolt struck the officer next to Russel, who shuddered at the sight of him floating limply, attached to the hull by his grav boots.
"Take cover!" he shouted, firing his energy rifle back through the hull.
Suddenly, a window behind them was smashed, sending shards floating up into the air. An alien, clad in the same armor as the first, began to climb out to face them, followed by several less-armored aliens.
"Head for the bridge!" Russel shouted to his teammates, firing his rifle as he ran along the surface of the hull.

(Steward) The alien swung it's arm, sending Elvis flying across the hall. It looked like it had been wounded, so Steward took the oppertunity and rushed at it, firing his laser. The rest of the security team followed, unleashing a barrage at it. The alien turned and ran, turning down a hallway. It blasted open a lift door with it's staff, and vanished down the shaft. Steward fired off a few shots, but the alien was already gone.
"What now?" asked a security officer.
"Those shafts lead everywhere on the ship." Steward said. "He could be heading anywhere. Get the entire Security team on alert. I want the entire ship searched until we find it."

IC: Jennifer looked at the map, she pushed a few buttons, and an image of the ship, or what it presumably looked like when it was intact appeared on screen, it appeared to be flying towards two other ships, both of which fired 3 missiles at it, leaving it in it's current state, "well," she said to herself, "at least I have some idea what happened"

OOC: We're going to run out of crew soon. Maybe we should stop killing people.

IC: A dull thump sounded from the ceiling above them. They all looked up puzzled. It was followed by dozens more. Banon frowned. "What on earth?"

Earth. What did that mean? The word had a comforting feeling to it, a light in the darkness. Though he did not know what it meant, for some reason it felt familiar.

He went to the nearest view port and looked out. Outside he could see multiples of the same creatures that had attacked him before firing at Russel's group. "Seal the door!" he yelled to Ori. Ori ran over and pushed the button next to the door, which sealed with a whoosh.

"Everyone grab onto something!" He pointed the rifle at the window and fired. It shattered, exploding outward as the air was sucked out of the room. Soon however the room equalized, and the vacuum stopped. "Stay here, I'll be right back." He pulled his upper body out of the hole. Looked around. Around him was the side of the ship, looking like a barren steel plain. Ahead of him were four aliens, firing at Russel's team. The team was moving quickly towards the bridge.

He brought his rifle up, and felt for the pump of the grenade launcher. He fired one, striking the group beneath the aliens feet. It was blown upward, flying out towards the vacuum of space...

He quickly did this the the next two, before he ran out of grenades. "Dang." Quickly he pulled himself back in and began reloading...
