Although I find it to be the most evident with the Rahkshi legs and far less so with the Inika shins, all lower leg pieces will wobble back and forth at the knee. I think that this is incredibly annoying when you're trying to play with your sets because it makes for some really weird poses.

I've never had any experiences as bad as you had except with older sets such as Roodaka as portrayed in that image; however, my Toa Gali Nuva Mistika has pretty loose leg joints. Also, those pictures are a little over-exaggerated; no Bionicle's joints are THAT bad.

Just tested, Lewa Phantoka's limbs are bent slighty, but I think I put them into that pose when putting it up on my dresser, and don't wobble when I try to move it with my finger.

That's actually kind of how our knees work... I don't mind it at all.
How to avoid it? Just don't put them into those poses. They usually just don't just fall into those poses on their own... BtB -------------------- You pick up the pieces and you put them away, in cozy little boxes, save them for another day-ay-ay

QUOTE Just tested, Lewa Phantoka's limbs are bent slighty, but I think I put them into that pose when putting it up on my dresser, and don't wobble when I try to move it with my finger. Weird, my Lewa's are really wobbly. QUOTE I've never had any experiences as bad as you had except with older sets such as Roodaka as portrayed in that image; however, my Toa Gali Nuva Mistika has pretty loose leg joints. Also, those pictures are a little over-exaggerated; no Bionicle's joints are THAT bad. I exaggerated them on purpose; I was showing what odd poses the joints let you do. Gali has Inika shins, right? I think those wobble the least... QUOTE That's actually kind of how our knees work... I don't mind it at all. How to avoid it? Just don't put them into those poses. They usually just don't just fall into those poses on their own... Looking at Lewa's picture, I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that when a human does that kind of pose, it is mostly their hip and ankle joints than move, not their knees leaning to the side. My Lewa and Roodaka actually do slide into those kinds of poses on their own. Then they fall over. It really drives me up the wall sometimes... And thanks for the advice, even though I kind of already figured that part out. QUOTE that hasnt happened to me before, although every once in a while some will go in a crouching position That's odd, mine never slide that way at all. ~Purri -------------------- |

That's never happened to me... Maybe you should turn their legs around, so that the "loose" a joints are on the hips, instead. I'd personally prefer to have to pose my figure crouching than knee-slacking.

Strange, I have never seen this "weak knee syndrome" before. None of the Bionicle in my collection have this, nor do they show any indication that there is a problem with their knees.
Maybe this only happens with pieces that have been taken apart a lot of times, but I don`t know any other solution than locking the knees in a 180 degrees position. -------------------- My Lego Network Visit it, please!!!!! :D

QUOTE It's happned, but I don't mind-more realistic. I don't think that it is terribly realistic to have their knees be able to pivot from side to side, but maybe that's just me. QUOTE That's never happened to me... Maybe you should turn their legs around, so that the "loose" a joints are on the hips, instead. I'd personally prefer to have to pose my figure crouching than knee-slacking. The problem isn't that the socket is loose, it's that there is nothing on the lower leg piece to stop it from moving side to side. Swapping sockets wont change the fact that the ball moves more than just back and forth. QUOTE I've noticed this too. It's pretty annoying when posing. QUOTE Yeah, I get really irritated by them. It makes it harder to make a standing pose. Yep. You just have to be extra careful when posing some sets, because when mine slide like that, they usually fall over. QUOTE with lewa Do you mean that Lewa Phantoka's knees can pivot from side to side? If so, then yeah, I agree with you. QUOTE It happened also to be in a minor part but it is easy to solve. (Just put the set in another way) QUOTE I've never experienced these problems to such a degree. Perhaps taking more care in posing will help, but otherwise I got nothing for you. QUOTE If you don't want 'em to look like that, then don't pose 'em that way. Yes, I know not to pose them like that because it's unstable and it looks weird. I'm getting kind of tired of people telling me that... QUOTE Strange, I have never seen this "weak knee syndrome" before. Loose ball joints can be tightened by applying a thin layer of clear nail polish or super glue to the ball joint. Let the ball joint cure and fully harden being reassembling it and the loose joint should be good as new.

I know, but I think it's different for humans. When I put Lewa into that pose, I bent his knees to the side first, then positioned his ankles so that his feet were flat on the ground. Essentially, his knees moving forced his hips and ankles into position. With a human, their hips (and ankles if they're standing) pull their knees into position for that exact same pose. Try this: sit down in a chair, then put your hands on your hips. Now turn your knees inward like Lewa. Can you feel the twist coming from your hip joints? See, with a human, their legs rotate at the hip to face their knees inward. With a Bionicle, their knees can pivot side to side without needing to move their hips. Lewa looks like he needs the bathroom....
I get this a lot, especially with Rahkshi and Toa Hordika, and I often try to fix it with blutack ( a kind of putty used for temperarily sticking posters to walls). Alternatively, you can change the limbs with other pieces. Inika and Metru legs are good. -Phovos -------------------- |

QUOTE Lewa looks like he needs the bathroom.... I get this a lot, especially with Rahkshi and Toa Hordika, and I often try to fix it with blutack ( a kind of putty used for temperarily sticking posters to walls). Alternatively, you can change the limbs with other pieces. Inika and Metru legs are good. I don't have any Toa Hordika, but lots of sets with Rahkshi legs definitely have that problem for me. I'll try using blutack, though. Good idea! QUOTE reminds me of almost-broken joints; they become extremely loose - maybe you should check for cracks. Somethig like that never happened to my Bionicle(s) only to the MOCs... *leaves to check* No, the problem for me isn't cracked sockets, (although that has happened *coughhahlimahricough*) it's that the ball on top of the lower leg piece can pivot side to side as well as back and forth. Look at one of your sets with Rahkshi legs. Straighten the knee out, then hold on to the bottom of the lower leg piece and move it left and right. See how there is nothing on the shin piece to stop it from wobbling? QUOTE I know I have troulbes displaying them on my shelf Yeah, you have to be extra careful posing some sets to avoid weird positions... ~Purri -------------------- |
