OK, here's my opinion: There will be canisters.
Why? For example: Right now, the whole so-top-secret-that-LEGO-might-be-CIA story says that LEGO is keeping upcoming stuff under wraps. This means that BIONICLE could very well be planned out for the 2010 year, just it is top secrect. Also, the only reason we've only seen the STARS is probably because LEGO wants to get Bio-Fans hyped up, excited. "Oh yeah! Tahu comes back! [insert random spas attack and other excitment here]!" LEGO could be doing this to get us ready to buy new sets, the STARS are like releasing prototypes, it only makes us crave final designs and wanting the new sets. The only bad thing is is that the STARS could be an excitment building factor, which means the canisters may not all be that great. Whew. I say again! The stars are probably canister sets. It's just that they are bringing back smaller sizes from 01-03 to see if they sell better. If Lego's keeping anything secret, it's the box sets. we've never gotten this early info. on box sets, have we!? Plus, I'm really liking the stars! They look pretty dang Awesome!

I agree. I am not totally thrilled with these sets, but I seriously doubt they are our winter canisters--they are just not interesting enough! Every year since...a long time, LEGO released 6 canisters and 4-6 small sets in the winter. Doesn't it seem logical that the STARS are just the small sets? And there is very little possibility that LEGO would only release six small sets in time for Christmas. Really, a huge portion of their annual profit comes from Christmas shopping and they need more new and interesting products out there for parents, etc., to buy.
I also don't see why everyone thinks this might be the end of BIONICLE. It's just another year with a different story. Remember how everyone thought that Bionicle was going to end last year with the re-awakening of Mata Nui? |

Unfortunately, the Bionicle line shall end with the Stars. Such a bittersweet moment. At least Bionicle will live on through the storyline....
