Well, it's a long story, but when looking through old backup disks about a week ago. I came across an 8 year old floppy. It seems at some point that I cannot remember, I downloaded these from the 2001 Bionicle website. Behold:
 Different HUD and lower polygon count. Indicating a possibly planned ps1 or n64 release.  Not sure what's happening here...  Pohatu finds a mask! That is guarded...  First encounter with Lewa.  A... minigame? Idk.  Matau's gonna kiss *Lewa?! xD  Lava surfing! Unfortunately ether there were no others, or I just didn't get them, but in any case, these alone are treasures lost to time. *For a wihile I and many others thought this was Tahu, but someone pointed out the shoulders. I recognize the Matau grabbing the face, but the rest are new! Great find. These look amazing. These, and the recently found videos, seem to be spelling out a possible beta disk soon, I hope.

I expect a turnout very simmilar to Sonic X-treme for the Sega Saturn. Look it up. It's history is much the same, only it's beta was found and the iso was distributed.

The others, I have not seen. Great find! If you found these . . . why not Lego just release the game again? But no, then they would have kids wondering what the island of Mata Nui is and complaining that there are no Bionicles on the shelf anymore. But, what if they release TLOMN for only us special BZPers?

That first pic definitely does suggest a N64 release, because you can see arrow icons, that somewhat look like the C buttons on an N64. Either that, or it would've used a control scheme similar to Ape Escape if it was for the Playstation, where you use part of the controller to select things, and at least one analog stick to mvoe and such.

These are great, especially the first one. I do remember that... perhaps it is on the Toa Mata promo CD... they said the game would come out on Gamecube. Somewhere else they said 'next generation gaming systems'. That fits with the N64 theory. Who knows what they had planned...

The graphics look too good to be for PlayStation . . . remember, PlayStation 2 was on the market in '01! I think it may have been for the following platforms:
PC, PlayStation 2, ?Nintendo Gamecube?. AND - The PlayStation Dualshock controller scheme has arrows on the controller! Ignika: Not necessarily, I've played a few games with great graphics near the end of the Playstation's life, and even before it(Gran Turismo, Spyro, among others). And yes, it has arrows, but that would mean that couldn't be used for movement.

Cause there was a video created for the promotion of Bionicle, (google dawn of Bionicle) that was basically just a toa broken on the beach with the Vahi. Also the Vahi was added randomly to mask packs right from the start as the so called "mystery kanohi". But if you mean story wise, it actually wasn't till 2003 when the Bohrok kal came in and Vakama was forced to tell of it.

Okay, didn't know about that video... And I forgot about the Mask pack thing, but I had thought I'd heard it was only given out in a promotion, though that would make more sense. And I had meant '03, forgot for a second it was Tahu Nuva who used it, not Tahu Mata. =P

But it is a possibility. Well, it depends; Spyro: Year of the Dragon had pretty good graphics for it's time. You're right Omega Blademan! The Spyro Graphics for PS1 are really good for PS1 . . . so maybe TLOMN COULD have been for that platform. I guess the only way to find out which system (PS1 or PS2) it would have come out for would be to actually ask Lego . . . after all, they aren't going to release the game so why keep it a secret?
