QUOTE QUOTE Hi Greg. I have some questions regarding the new Bionicle Heroes game. 1. Is the story team involved with the plot for this game? In other words, will this game be considered "official" storyline? 2. Do you know why in the game, the Inika have the Toa Olda's weapons? 3. There seems to be a Rahkshi statue in the website for the game, but I didn't see one (A Rahkshi, that is) in the trailer... why is it there? 4. Will Roodaka have a big role in the game? 5. The game info says "Master their unique weapons and abilities in order to defeat the villainous Piraka one by one", yet it doesn't say anything about the Mask of Life. Will we see it in the game, or is it a "books and comics only" thing? I understand if you can't answer some of these questions. 1) No, we were not involved at all. 2) You're not really playing the Inika, you are basically playing someone with the abilities of a Krahka. 3) No idea, had nothing to do with the game. 4) See answer to #3 5) See answer to #3 Greg No. 2 is very, VERY interesting... -------------------- [--------¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯--------] --[il| |li]--[--------_______________--------] |

QUOTE(Taka-Tahu-Nuva @ May 10 2006, 02:04 PM) No. 2 is very, VERY interesting... I don't really see why. You can see in the trailer that the player can choose the Inika they want/need (you can see Jaller suddenly being replaced by Kongu). This is probably because different Inika have different abilities. Much like you could shift from Toa to Toa in Maze of Shadows. LZ This post has been edited by Little Zivon: May 10 2006, 09:59 AM |

QUOTE QUOTE Hi Greg, I'm sure that your not like super involved with the BIONICLE Heroes game, but according to the screenshots, I have to ask you a couple of questions about it. 1) Will we see Roodaka on Voya Nui in the storyline this year (since she's in the game along with Visorak)? 2) Do you know who the mysterious "bonus player" is in the game and if so, can you tell me or not? Thanks for your time Greg. - Toa Lhikan Hordika 1) No. The game is not official storyline and Roodaka never appears on Voya Nui. 2) No, I don't. Outside of playing a demo for a couple minutes a few months ago, I had nothing at all to do with the game. Since it wasn't canon, there was no need for me to be involved. Darn, no Roodaka this year in the storyline. - |

Some Qs I asked Greg:
QUOTE QUOTE Hi Greg. I have some questions about the upcoming BIONICLE Heroes video game: 1. Is the game canonical? 2. If yes, did you have any part in developing the storyline for the game? Thanks. torritorri No and no. Not sure what info has been released on the game, but you are not actually playing the Toa, you are playing someone who turns into Toa -- basically, someone with the powers of a Krahka -- and while Krahka does return in 2006, she doesn't do any of the stuff that is in the game. torritorri -------------------- I am taking an indefinite break from BZP.

It's been edited because it's easier to read that way:
QUOTE 1. Is the OoMN collectively as powerful as Mata Nui?
1) No 2. If a Toa Nui existed, it would be as powerful as Mata Nui. So, if the Toa Nuva formed a Toa Nui Nuva, would it be more powerful than Mata Nui? 2) Moot point, since a Toa Nui has never and probably will never be formed. 3. Is the Kanohi Ignika more powerful than the Kanohi Vahi? 3) I wouldn't say so, no. Not more powerful, just differently powered. 4. Is Umbra stronger than Takanuva? Axonn and Brutaka? 4) Again, Umbra is differently powered, I wouldn't say more powerful. And I would probably give the edge to Axonn and Brutaka in a fight. 5. Are the Great Beings stronger than Mata Nui? 5) Can't answer it 6. Were the Toa Hordika stronger or weaker than the average Toa? 6) Stronger physically, weaker in terms of willpower and discipline 7. Are Karzahni and Artakha at the same power level? 7) Yes 8. Could the Voya Nui Matoran be able to form a Matoran Kaita or Matoran Nui? Karzahni changed them, so I thought they might not be able to. 8) Yes, they could, if they knew how 9. Is tSO weaker than Makuta? 9) Yes 10. Would a Turaga Nui be stronger or weaker than a Toa? 10) No idea, since I have never seen a Turaga Nui in action 11. Are the Piraka stronger than the Toa Nuva? They've been able to beat them pretty bad. 11) I wouldn't say stronger, no. The Piraka had the advantage of surprise and an OOMN member as an ally 12. Were the Bohrok-Kal stronger than the Toa Nuva? Them too. 12) No. They lost, didn't they? 13. Is Karzahni more or less powerful than Axonn and Brutaka? 13) Hard to say, since they have never fought 14. How long have the Bahrag been around? 14) Oh, probably just shy of 100,000 years 15. Did Balta live in a place other than the VN mainland before he was sent to Karzahni? Did his Turaga send him to Karzahni? 15) Yes and yes -------------------- |

QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE Here are only a few questions, i promise..Lol. 1.Do you know when we should be getting the May/June LEGO Magazine/Comic? 2.What is Ignition #2 about? 3.Does it Have the Inika in it? 4.Can you tell us the official release dates of the Inika, Titans (besides Irnakk), and Playsets here in America? 5.Who is leader of the Inika? Could it be Hahli? 6.Can you give a Toa Hahli/Jaller quote? 1) Magazines always ship mid-month, so they should start shipping next week. 2) Piraka vs. Axonn 3) Only at the very end 4) August 1st, which probably means they will start hitting stores in late July 5) No, it's not Hahli. Hahli was a Chronicler, that does not qualify her to lead what is essentially a military operation to retake the island 6) I don't have time to go quote hunting today That means we finally get to own something with Inika quotes in about a week or two! I'm dissapointed Hahli Isn't leader. Now, It's probably going to be Jaller. And I thought 2006 was taking a break from constant leaders being Fire characters.. I have nothing against Fire Characters, but It seems unfair that 97.5% of the time, when there are leaders in BIONICLE, it's the Red/Fire Character.. The Female characters have never gotten a chance to lead. Oh well... Then again, It doesn't mean It can't be Matoro, Kongu, or Hewkii. Now, there are Two Iniak we can stop guessing are leader. QUOTE QUOTE Hey Greg, long time viewer, first time caller. Just wanted to ask you a few questions. 1)Is Nuparu's Mask power the ability to walk on walls? I saw him doing that in the BH trailor and I wondered if he could do that in the storyline. 2)You say you used to work in RPGs. Were the Rahkshi powers based from spells from RPGs? For example, Poison, Darkness, Confusion and Sleep being status allinments? 3)This has been speculated but is the flip mask of Vezons the MoLi or can't you answer that? 4)Favorate Inika? 5)Is answering BZ members questions part of your job? 6)Could you give me a Kongu or Hewkii quote? It's alright if you're busy. Thank you in advance. QUOTE 1) No. Keep in mind BH has very little if anything to do with the actual storyline. 2) Nope. 3) Half of it is, yes 4) Nuparu or Kongu 5) No, it's not 6) Don't really have time to go quote searching, sorry Number 3 is really intresting. QUOTE Message Forwarded From GregF Curt, Voya Nui has a number of nicknames given by those unfortunate enough to have to live there, but Voya itself is Matoran for "journey." The name of the island refers to the abrupt and violent trip it took to get where it is now. Greg -------------------- |

QUOTE QUOTE 1. How long before going into the canisters were the Toa Olda around? 2. If for thousands of years, did they have a different destiny back then? 3. I know that there haven't been any plans for a Mata Nui set. But what would you make Mata Nui look like if he was a set? 4. Does Zaktan's knowledge of everything have anything to do with how the Ignika knows almost everything in the universe? 5. Are there other important items in the 2006 storyline other than the Ignika, Brutaka and Axonn's masks, Zamor spheres and launchers, and weapons? 6. You said something like "half of Vezon's flip mask is the MoLi. Is this true? 7. If yes to #6, then the "half" refers to half of the piece, not half of the mask-looking side, right? 1-2) The Olda were always destined to awaken Mata Nui if anything should ever happen to him. Well, even if he was awake, making a set of him would only cheapen his image as a "Great Spirit", much like how some poeple view the 2003 Makuta set as a "spoiler" toward his character... but still, knowing that Mata Nui does have a definite look is pretty interesting!

Here's some new information from Greg, not all of it BIONICLE, but interesting just the same. If you want to know Vezon's eye power, just click!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Not really really spoiling but just put Spoiler Tag to be sure. About the Mata Nui set, I'm hoping there isn't one. It would seem to destroy the 'mystery's surroudning Mata Nui and his image. TO tell the truth, although I LOVED the Makuta set, it sorta spoiled his image. I used to love the evil Hau image. ALthough it is interesting to know Mata Nui DOES have a form. Many thanks to Mr. Farshtey. No use asking questions if he didn't answer them. I Thank you and LEGO! Just some clarification on the whole Mata Nui thing...
QUOTE QUOTE Earlier you said you knew what Mata Nui looks like. I thought that he wasn't a set, since that would only happen if he was awake, and Bionicle would be over. I don't understand what you mean. Is it like Karzahni, where there is an official description, but no picture? Thanks for your time, as always. He's not a set. But a rough idea of how he looks is part of the original 2000 story bible. Greg So, there was more to Mata Nui from the beginning. QUOTE 19) Mata Nui didn't abandon him any more than he abandoned Axonn or the Matoran or the Toa. It wasn't his choice to get put to sleep. I view Brutaka as not so much evil as lost -- his faith wasn't strong enough, and with nothing to believe in, he lost his moral compass Wow. That sort of makes brutaka the goth of the bionicle world. QUOTE QUOTE Just a few questions: 1. If memory serves, you mentioned a while ago that Botar has a connection to one of the 2007 characters. Can you just confirm/clarify this? 2. a.) Is there any particular reason you're keeping next year shrouded in much more secrecy than last year? I dunno...Last year you released a lot of information on Legends 1 and 2 and the events in them. Seems that this year, absolutely nothing has come out about 2007. Zip. Zero. Nada. Not that it's a bad thing, or anything - I'm just a little curious if there's any particular motivation behind doing that. b.) I know you're not releasing the Book 6 title or synopsis anytime soon, but won't it just make it up onto Scholastic International Rights in a few weeks' time anyways? Seems like that happens every time you announce/start a book anyways. 3. Since the Piraka will be background-only characters in 2007-2008, will they only appear in the books? If so, how minor a role will they play? 4. Which year of Bionicle is your favourite? (This includes any past, present and future years) Thanks for all your help ~ 1) He has a connection to several 2007 characters actually, which will be revealed in BIONICLE Legends #6. 2a) Simple. I can't reveal info on BL #6 without giving away the ending of this year's story. Revealing stuff on BL #1 didn't harm the 2005 story any, because it didn't give anything away. And let's face it, it's May -- no one needs info on 2007 at this point, we aren't even halfway through 2006. 2b) I can't control what they do. I have to answer to LEGO Company and our policies on this. 3) Don't know yet. 4) Probably '04, because that is the first year I got to do novels for. Some interesting stuff... ~ -------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() --------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Blog |

Well, Mata Nui has a physical form, but he won't be a set... and Greg knows how he looks...
The Island, anyone? Facts: -The Bohrok had to clean it for something important -Mata Nui could move the "stars" of Metru Nui, and the stars are, actually, right under Mata Nui, so they can be part of his "body." -The two moons. Two eyes he used to watch upon the Matoran? They closed when he was put to sleep... Well, there you go. I'm sure someone will make a Topic of this and he won't give me any credit Khote -------------------- |

QUOTE(Toa Lewa Hordika @ May 13 2006, 01:46 AM) Hello, Greg. Few questions: 1: Members of Voya Nui Resistance team are wearing Great Ruru, Great Huna, etc. Are their masks only matoran masks IN SHAPE of great Ruru etc. OR are they REAL Great masks? 2. Are the masks of Toa Inika Great Masks? 3. Has Botar (Axxon & Brutaka combination) any role in Voya Nui saga storyline? -Toa Lewa Hordika We know all of these already; 1. Like all Matoran, their masks are not Great Kanohi, but simply in the same shape. 2. Yes 3. Yes -------------------- "Lego zombies are hard. QUOTE QUOTE Ok I read on somewhere that said the Titans for this year have the powers of lava or lava based powers and I was pretty sure that they did not have such powers so can you confirm this for me? No, they do not have lava based powers. The idea that they do is based off of a website that had outdated information. Yeah thats just to clear up some confusion anyone might that Brutaka and Axonn have lava powers when they clearly don't. -------------------- Come with me, to the light! And be reborn.

QUOTE Yeah thats just to clear up some confusion anyone might that Brutaka and Axonn have lava powers when they clearly don't. It looks like a lot of people didn't know that info was outdated though, as their Lego Mag descriptions mention lava, Axonn's box art features lava, and Brutaka's box art shows him holding a ball of lava. QUOTE Wait- Can someone enlighten me? What is a Kratana and how does it look like? A Kratana is, I assume, the Krana/Kraata hybrid, which looks like a cross between the two. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Seranikai -------------------- |

More Q&A's. Hopefully these answers you may find interesting like Q3 in my last batch.
QUOTE QUOTE Hey Greg, just some more questions 1)Just wondering, how did you come up with the Rahkshi powers? 2)Is there any storyline reason for Hewkii's colour scheme, or are you leaving that alone? 3)You've said how great Nuparu's mask power is, but we don't know what it is. For all we know, it could be the mask of complete destiny control. Just to clear things up, what is his mask power? 4)Who comes up with all the set names? 5)Any particualar reason why Vezok isn't a girl, or is it just because he doesn't look like one? 6)We know that Hahli fires energy harpoons, Kongu shoots energy bolts from his crossbow that splits what it hits to atoms, Nuparu has a laser drill and Hewkii's axe vibrates to cleave rocks, but do Jaller's and Matoro's weapons do anything special, or do they just glow? 7)We don't know much about Hewkii, can you spare me a quote from him? 8)Favorate Piraka? 9)Favorate Rahkshi power? 10)We know that the Piraka had the 'Gangsta' image with the ads, I'm just wondering what's the Inika ad's like, or don't you know? 11)Where did the idea of the Piraka hating each other come from? They looked so chummy in the ads Thanks in advance! 1) I have a list of every hero/villain power ever used in comics, so I just pick off that. 2) Was a result of the lightning 3) I am not revealing that until we are closer to the sets coming out, other than to say it is a physical-based power. 4) I make suggestions, other people make suggestions, the list is run through Legal in Denmark, we get back a list of approved names and pick from that. 5) Because we decided not to have any female Piraka in the 2006 story, one, and two, because given his origin having him be female would make no sense. 6) They shoot fire and ice 7) I haven't time to go quote searching, and I believe I already gave someone a Hewkii quote a couple weeks ago, so it is probably floating around on BZP someplace. 8) Zaktan 9) Don't really have one, been too long since I wrote about them. 10) Haven't seen them 11) That was always the plan. The ads were not meant to be storyline, as you know. This post has been edited by The Infection: May 15 2006, 11:42 AM -------------------- Personally I think Bionicle should have ended in 2009.

Masks, tools, etc 2) Is 2007 going to be darker than 2006? 3) Could you give me the names of one of the Toa Inika's tools? 4) Can you give me a quote from Matoro/Jaller/Hewkii/ Kongu? Either one of them, its all right if you can't 5) Could Mata Nui the island be Mata Nui's physchial form? 6) Is it Takanuva's destiny to wear the Kanohi Ignika? Due to all the evidence we've got 7) Do the Toa Inika have comibners? 8) You previously mentioned that you've already planned at least 12 years of storyline, and we are already through the first 5 years, so is their only 7 more years of bionicle? Thans for your time 1) When we are closer to them actually coming out -- they have an 8/1 in-store date. 2) I can't discuss 2007 at all 3) Laser crossbow 4) I don't really have time right now to go quote searching 5) No 6) Can't discuss future storyline 7) Yes, but I haven't seen them yet. All canister sets have combiners. 8) No, because if we reach the end of the next 7 years and the sets are still selling well, then we will come up with more -- probably well before we reach that point. -------------------- Credit to Seranikai for the avatar and banner and Janus for the Proto! ![]() {The War Of Makuta}{The Attack Of The Toa}{Makuta's Betrayal}{Trials Of A Toa}{Wars Destruction}{Shadow Games} {The Gate Of Survival}{Worlds End}{The Dawn Of The Toa}{Swords Of Storms}{Dangers Of The Unknown} {Curse Of Roezunak}{Friends Of the Dark}{Nightmare Of The Daetak}{The Phrophercies Reign}{Doomsday} |

QUOTE QUOTE When, if at all, will we find find out about what Mata Nui looks like? I'm guessing that we won't find out until many years from now. Is that correct? As always, thanks for your time. QUOTE Hey Greg, I got a few questions-- 1) Did you ever state that the Ancient Evil and Makuta are two different beings? If not, can you confirm it? 1) I have stated next to nothing about the AE, other than basic stuff like it's not Vezon and it's not Roodaka. Other than that, I am not discussing the subject. 2) Also, did you ever state that Makuta did not influence Zaktan, in any way? If not, can you confirm it? 2) Keep following the story and decide on this for yourself. There's confusion because we haven't reached the point in the story where those things are dealt with yet. There seems to be a lot of confusion about these things currently, so I hope you can answer them. Thanks in advance. Just as I expected. Reminds me of 2004... -Ikk -------------------- kthxbai |

QUOTE QUOTE Ever since I first heard about Vezon having some kind of connection. First off, the Vezon/Vezok connection is a BIG part of it, as I have a hunch that how they knew each other sometime in the past, is that THEY WERE ONCE THE SAME BEING! Tell me, does this make sense, or am I, like Vezon, nuts? QUOTE I still think that Vezon was originally part of Vezok, and that this would account for the absence of powers and a spine, as well as his craziness. The real question is "Who separated him from Vezok?" What do you think of my theory?
Well, guess you will have to follow the story and see. I have a large number of answers from Greg.
QUOTE Answers From Greg
______________________________________________________________________________________ Great Beings ) Do the Matoran know the Great beings exist? Yes ) If they do, what is their perception of them? (Notice the word "perception" in there.) Not sure, it is sort of like humans trying to conceive of infinity ) Are the Great Beings God-like figures, or something else? Can't answer it ) Is their more than one Great Being? Yes Mata Nui (Spirit) and the OoMN ) I have heard that ata Nui have heard that he would fall asleep about 200 years before it actually happened. Is this accurate? Probably a little more than that ) I really would like to know how old Metru Nui is, because that will give me a clue to how old the OoMN is Probably about 100,000 years old or so ) How long before B2 has Mata Nui known that he would be put to sleep? Long time ) How long before B2 did Mata Nui know Makuta was involved (if at all)? Long time ) How old is the Order of Mata Nui? Ancient -- founded probably shortly after Metru Nui was ) What is the main purpose of the OoMN? To serve the will of Mata Nui ) Did Mata Nui form the OoMN himself? I would think so. No, the Great Beings did ) Was the Order of Mata Nui (and possible the Brotherhood of Makuta) formed in response to something specific, such as the Ancient Evil waking up or other very bad event; or because of something more general, such as Mata Nui being overworked. Neither. Brotherhood of Makuta ) In Book 6, we learned that Makuta had many laboratories and other things hidden in the Great Barrier. How long has Makuta been there? (Time wise, or compared to other events we know of) Oh, quite a while ... long while ) Did Makuta (or his servants) make the lab himself, or was it existence before Makuta arrived? He made it himself ) What is the official name of the Forohk? Since they only appeared in one panel of one comic, they do not have an official BIONICLE name -- it costs a lot of money to get a name cleared legally, so we only get official names for things that play important roles in the story ) Is the Mangia (The one we see in MoL) a part of his laboratories? If not, than what is it? ) You said that the Makuta in “Brotherhood of Makuta” is plural. Is Makuta a species name, or a special title? ) Is there a formal leader of the BoM? ) Are there many members in the BoM, or only a few? ) Who formed the Brotherhood of Makuta? The Great Being? Mata Nui? Other? Can't answer these ) What do Makutas usually use Rahkshi for? Search (and destroy?) missions like in MoL, or are they most likely to me used in some other way? Whatever Makuta needs them to do, whether it's search and destroy, sentry duty, whatever. Ancient Evil ) Is the ancient evil a being, or a thing? It is a being )Has the Ancient Evil been unleashed before? Yes Matoran ) About how many Matoran are alive on Voya Nui in the 2006 storyline? Oh, hundreds, I would say, but not as many as a thousand ) Did the Matoran on Voya Nui come from somewhere else, or were always on Voya Nui? I can't answer this one, as it is being answered a little later in the year (We now know that the Matoran on Voya Nui came from many different islands, went to Karzahni for repair, and ended up on Voya Nui) ) Before Mata Nui came down (10,000 to 60,000 years ago), were all Matoran working in the same place? (Besides those in the Artakha and Karzahni) Actually, it is more like 100,000 years ago, and answer's no. ) About how long did it take to construct Metru Nui? No idea. Not something I have thought about. ) Were Matoran always biomechanical? Yes, they were ) Who do the Matoran think they were created by? Not something we deal with, because when you get into creation myths you get into religion. Islands ) How much time elapsed between Comic 1 and MoL? Months? A year? More? Do you mean comic 1 from 2001? I would say about a year. ) How long has Keetongu been on Metru Nui, time wise or in relation to other events we know of? I don't have that information. The story bible does not state how long he was there prior to WOS. ) How long had the Kralhi been hiding in the Great Barrier before Mavrah found them? Until the Toa Metru found them? Again, not something I have really worried about because it's not relevant to the story. ) What is the meaning of Valmai? (I know you said it in the 2006 topic, but I cannot find it) I would have to look that up, and unfortunately, I don't have the spare time to do that right now. Disks and Masks ) Who thought up the disk combinations that form the different Kanohi Masks? I did ) What combination of disks do Matoran use to make the Mask of Stealth? Hasn't been determined, because the mask was not made on Metru Nui and may have used disks other than the ones they had. ) I noticed some patterns in the combining of disks. Weakness disks give a more limited version of the power. Teleportation disks have something to do with motion. What other patterns do you know of? None, I had no patterns in mind when I came up with it. ) Could you start using patterns? That depends on if I have time to worry about patterns -- you may have more free time to worry about those things than I do QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE Hello, Greg. It is me again. I I have two small questions that I would be glad if you can answer. 1) How did Matoran replaced broken masks before the invenstion of the Kanoka (and thus mask making)? What did they use to make masks? 2) When was the Kanoka Invented? Thank you in advance. Who says the Matoran were making masks before the invention of Kanoka? Obviously, they had masks before that time, but no one has ever said they were the ones who made them. I think the question I should have asked was: Before the invention of the Kanoka, if a Motoran broke their mask, how did they get a replacement, if at all? They probably would have had a small stockpile provided by their creators. Wars ) How long ago (to the nearest 100th or 1,000th year) did the Dark Hunter War (The one that happened on Metru Nui) take place? The Toa-Dark Hunter War? Probably 2000-3000 years prior to the 2001 story ) Did the BoM become corrupt before or after the Dark Hunter War? Timeline is not nailed down enough for me to answer ) Were the BoM involved in the Dark Hunter War in any way (good, evil, or neutral)? No. ) Was the battle on Metru Nui the only battle in the war? The entire war was fought on Metru Nui, because that is what the Toa and Dark Hunters were fighting over ) Is the Dark Hunter/ Brotherhood of Makuta War still going on during the time of the Toa Nuva? Yes. ) What are the major events of the Dark Hunter/ Brotherhood of Makuta War? I don't have a written down history of it, since it hasn't been relevant to the story to make one. The Red Star ) Can you give any clue to what the red star is? No ) Can you give any clue to what the red star is not? No Other ) Did you know about the BoM back in 2003? Yes ) Who comes up with Bionicle names? I do ) How do they come up with the names? Basically, you put letters together that sound like BIONICLE names, then run them through Google looking for hits. If you don't get many, you send them off for legal checks. ) How much effort (or lack there of) is put into creating names to make them internally consistent (so it sounds like the names came from an actual language)? A lot, that is why we went with Inika rather than Igniters -------------------- Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair: Harry Potter and the Island of Heroes MoL B2 B3 The Mata nui Offline Download The Us(Sal) Mag My Library The All-Seeing Blog Other Great Comedies: Bornicle Toa of Pi's Library Onuki’s Library Makuta Rehersals Toa Go To College The Quest For The Last Three Great Disks Great Epics: The Gates of Destiny Great Movies: Imperial Recruitment PSA The Great Death Star Evacuation |
