Sure, bud, no problem. Had to make a few adjustments to it to put it within the rules, but here it be: Jaller Avatar.

In the future, please don't post about this. Just ask someone to do it for you via PM.

I don't understand how to customize my avatar.

It's simple. First set up an account on an image-hosting site like PictureVillage or Brickshelf. Then choose a file off your hardrive that you want as your avatar and upload it to that site. After you do that, right-click the picture (on the image-hosting site), copy the url, and paste it in the blank for the url on the Avatar settings page. And while you're doing that, you can pick the avatar's size too! Oh, and if you want to be able to uplaod avatars directly from your hardrive, you have to become a Premier Member. Check it out here and see what you think, know what'm sayin'? psychotwitch.gif

BTW, since you're new, you should look at the Reference Desk to see all the guidelines for BZPower. Other than that, have fun and welcome to BZPower! howdy.gif

---Explanation of how to get an Avatar---
To get a standard BZP avatar, go to your Control Panel, then click Edit Avatar Settings. There are many choices of avatars you can choose from there, and when you've chosen, then click "add this avatar to my profile", and you should have your avatar.

Only JPEG and GIF files work on BZP, so make sure your image is one of those before doing this. To get a custom avatar onto BZP, you must first put it on a website. To do that, go to a Imgae Hosting site, a site that will post you pictures on your computers. Brickshelf is a site like that, and you can only put Lego pictures and Bionicle pictures on it. So go to www.brickshelf.com and join, it's a free service.

Once you have an account, log in and make a new folder. Then click Upload in the upper righthand corner. Then browse and select the image from your computer that you want to upload. Then click upload. This should bring the picture online. Now go to that picture and right click it. Click Properties. You should see a URL code. Highlight it, right click it, then click Copy. Now go back to BZP.

Go to your control panel and click Edit Avatar Settings. Then, once the page loads, paste the URL that you copied earlier into the box and then press Update avatr settings, and you should have your avatar.

Look here for more instructions. smile.gif

Indeed, yes. cool.gif On the right side of "Add Reply" in a Topic, it says "New Topic". Click that, then enter the Topic Name, Description, etc in the Boxes in it. cool.gif or, when you're looking at a Forum, on the top right side of the Forum you'll see "new Topic" as well.

BTW, normally this wouldn't belong here, but because you can't post a new Topic... rolleyes.gif Just so you know.

Ah the so called UPI box, well to get rid of that you need to write the corrent URL the address of the image...oh and a sig is the entire thing under your post, the words images everything there... If you have the correct url I suggest if your browser has changed the spaces with %20 then replace the %20 with a space and it should work otherwise you have to ave the wrong URL or the pic has been deleted...

BZG
p.s. just so you know most Addresses are case sensitive
oh and I will edit this post with more info on how to fix your banner...

Edit: It appears that the account "Pohatu Nuva3" doesn't exists... Did you sign up for an account or did you just type that in thinking it would work?(not trying to sound harsh if I do...)

Edit: sorry for the second edit so fast but I just found out what you main problem is, the account "Pohatu Nuva3" doesn't exists but the account "PohatuNuva3 does" so the correct URL for your sig image is
CODE
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/PohatuNuva3/Avatarsandbanners/tots.gif
and yes it is that I checked and the pic exists so that was your problem... Glad to help

burnmad.gif Whenever I try to get pictures a message pops up saying "Sorry, Dynamic pages in the [img] tags are not allowed." It makes me soooooooo MADDD!!! angry.gif  burnmad.gif  burnmad.gif  burnmad.gif  angry_pahrak_kal.gif How do you post animated sigs?? angry.gif

This is usually caused by one of two things...
  • The URL you are using is for a webpage containing the image that you want to insert, intead of for the actual image. Make sure that the URL is for the image (if it is, it should have some standard image file extension at the end, like .jpg or .gif).
  • Its a problem with editing your sig, and you have a quiz banner already there causing problems. This isn't the case for you, but if it were, you'd just remove the quiz banner, edit your sig, and put the banner back.

You can put animated images in sigs the same way you put in any other image. Check the Q&A topic directory for topics on how to animate images.

Sorry, you said earlier about the IMG problems, and I tried what you said. (I had the same problem) After I had my sig like I wanted, and I added back the quiz reward, but it still wouldnt allow that quiz image! Need...help! sad.gif

EDIT:Wait, sorry! I dont need help anymore! smile.gif Sorry if I troubled anyone! sad.gif See ya! biggrin.gif

Yes, quite simply edit the image if the need be to keep it within the sig guidelines which can be found here. Once you have edited your image to fit the guidelines, if the image is Bionicle/LEGO related you can upload it to brickshelf or if it is not Bionicle/LEGO related then upload it to village photos or any other free image host of your choice (use a search engine).

Hope that helps wink.gif

It's easy, just make an account at brickshelf.com then go into your account, and click the "upload" button.

Of course, the pic has to be Lego related to be on brickshelf.com . If it isn't, do the same thing I told you to do for brickshelf, but just go to villagephotos.com instead. Just make sure your pic is appropriate for BZP before showing it on BZP.

Anyway you want of course! tongue.gif An avatar can be any picture. You can make it in Paint or however you like! However, the pic has to be either a GIF or JPG format. To do that, choose Save As in MS Paint and click ont he correct file type. After that you must then upload it to an image-hosting site like Brickshelf. But if you're not good at drawing, then you can request one in the Artwork forum! smile.gif

I have a question about posting pictures as a premier member(I'm planning on becoming one sometime soon). As a premier member, you can upload pictures to BZP directly. When your Premier Membership expires, do the pictures disappear, or do they stay uploaded, though your Premier Membership ends? If this isn't in the right place, or has already been answered, then I'll edit my post with a question pertaining to the topic(because I got a lot of them, just not the time to post 'em all).

IQ/Danny huh.gif

EDIT: Thanks Timoteo! I appreciate the info.

Well, Avatars you Uploaded will stay until you remove them.
However, Attached Images disappear after a Month. But that happens anyway, even if you're still Premier.

I have 2 questions.

1) I have seen people who have a gold avohki where the vahi should be. Is this a two year thing?

2) I've seen lots of people with their own movie style matoron, and they all look the same. (just different colors and masks) I was wondering, is there a site where you can pick your own or make your own?
Sorry if this last question is off topic.

I have 2 answers for you,

1) Yes, the gold avohkii is the 2 year symbol

2) There isn't a site, but I think you're thinking of RZ's Mega Kit, go to the artwork forum and you should find it.

Cool topic! It's really helpful!
But, does anyone know how to upload a picture from a movie on a Macintosh? There's no PrintScreen key. And, after that, how do you open a new bitmap image?

I'm the moderator of a Yahoo! Group. I would like to use a thumbnail image from my group, possibly as an avatar if it's small enough, but I can't figure out how to find the URL of the image.
I tried getting the URL from the properties window, but that didn't work, so I came here.
I found out why, but I still haven't found out how.
If it's allowed (I don't know if this would be proper as a hosting site) could someone tell me how to find out the URL of the image? Or where I could go to find out? Or something?

Question 1: You go to properties, some pics sometimes just don't have an ikmage URL.
Question 2:I would recommend http://www.deviantart.com because you can upload multiple images including music videos and audio.

Ice Wrath the only problem with that is I get a property looking like this:
CODE
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_8552668/It%27s+a+boy!/__tn_Eighteen+days+old.jpg?bcmjOk_Acy9zgTk_
and when I try to paste it in the URL screen I get," Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed."
I have posted links before, so I know I'm pasting the URL in properly.
So the question remains: Is there a way to get the URL of the image in a usable form?

Let me restate my answer, some URL Image Pics have nonvalid URL's and they don't work here on BZP, but for instance, take a look at your avatar and my avatar, they have URL that can be used for images, it is just that some images don't have the right URL.

I don't think there is a way to link directly to yahoo pictures.

The url is not for really for an image. If it were, it would end in something like .jpg, .gif, or .png, although non-image files can also have these file extensions. A parameter is being passed (the '?' followed by a value after the filename) which can potentially vary what will be displayed, so the result is assumed to be dynamic, not static.

The following is speculation, feel free to correct me...

I would assume that the url is for a script that checks the value and conditionally displays the image; its likely that this is put in place to prevent direct linking to the image. The value becomes invalid after a short time, so its probably at least partially based on a timestamp or a session id.

I actually understood your previous answer thanks for rephrasing it though.
The problem wasn't so much knowing why it wasn't working as knowing where to get one that worked.

Pohuaki, thank you for explaining why my URL wouldn't work. I did know that the URL had to end in a pic extension (.jpg, .gif, etc.) but I didn't know what the ? was for. I had hoped there would be a way for me to use my Yahoo! Group to host images, but it looks like the answer is, "Can't be done that way, use a hosting site."

As an add-on to your speculation...
The pics in Yahoo! Groups can be rearranged, replaced, altered, deleted, and viewed in different manners, which may explain the inclusion of a variable value.

To all...
I have found URLs that direct link to images and files before (SOME BZP images provide usable direct link data), using the methods you have described, among others. (For personal use, not sharing purposes)
I was hoping to find a way to direct link to the images I have stored for use in my Yahoo! Group, but it looks like I'll have to use a hosting site to direct link personal images. And before someone asks I have not direct linked any BZP images, to any place.
