8596 Takanuva and Ussanui, perhaps the most desired set of the year, was released at LEGO S@H two days ago (by phone only). Earlier today, the set arrived at my door. What follows is a complete photographic review of the set that holds the Toa of Light.
Discuss this story here, but do not discuss the building style of the sets shown in the images. |

Seeing this has made it even Harder to Wait till the TRU Exclusive TakutaNuva Comes out..but oh well, the review itself was excellent and the pictures looked crisp and sharp. Plus the Way you phrased some of your "Critiques" makes you woder..Coincidence or not....

Great review, Bionicle Rex. The pictures answered a lot of questions I have had about the Ussanui construction, and the transparent Avohkii brings up even more. Were there any interesting pictures inside the instructions, like there have been with previous sets?

it's cool how he can fit perfectly on the ussanui, even his mask, and how the ussanui can change from one mode to another PS: will the clear mask be contained in the takutanuva set, because I don't want to have to by both takanuva (for the clear mask) and takutanuva (for the exclusive takutanuva mask) when I can just buy the takutanuva set the TRU takutanuva set does contain both makuta and takanuva, right? -------------------- |

Wow, how awesome is Takanuva! And the Ussanui too...I'm surprised he's silver. He looked a lot more like a whale when he was black, perhaps that's the reason for the change since the prototype phase.
Also, that transparent glittery Avohkii looks really cool! I hope it's not a promotion I might miss out on... :S - J  E

Dang! This just makes me want it more! And as i live in a place other than USA i cant get it (as usual). Ah well, its only £20 here, so i'll wait til its out on SaH. I love the gold armor, and, the clear mask of light. So that means that theres 3, Gold, Silver, and clear. I wonder if that means anything...

I bet the clear mask is what it looks like when the Matoran find it in the comic or the online updateds. Or it could be a depleeted MOL?

maybe it is the mask formed when they join......... a 'delepeted' mol like teknui(kuta) said....... no color with gold sparklels. they wouldn't use a infected avohhiki cos it's too expensive because it is hand-painted............................ thats why(i think)

I'm quite impressed with this set, and these pictures answered a lot of questions. Takanuva looks very cool, and his mask especially reminds me of the old designs more than the Nuva masks. The set is made all the more enticing by the inclusion of three masks, even though we don't seem to know what one of them is for.
I also wonder the same thing as Ultimate Metroid - will the Toys R Us set include the clear Mask of Light in addition to the mask exclusive to that set? It'd be a shame to have to buy Takanuva twice to get all the new masks, but I suppose it makes sense from a business standpoint (that is, people wouldn't buy Takanuva and Makuta separately if a few months later they can get them together PLUS an extra mask). The seventh Toa looks great. Despite how nice the Rahkshi look, Bionicle Rex is right - this will be the set to own this year. |

thats pretty cool!! i like how the Usssainai fits perfect (sometimes unlike the exo-toa) and that it has a flight mode and doesn't crawl.....i think the Usssanai has 6 kraata holders because:

These pics, even the masks, have excited me so much, I was going to order Makuta of S@H then buy (if I had enough $) Takanuva when they're out in sstores, but now I'll wait, and make sure I have enough money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
