Alright, I've noticed that there's a lot of people posting their reviews for the Mask of Light movie. This is plenty spiffy, but y'see, they're a bit muddled because there's so many. So, that's why I've made this topic: for people to post their reviews in.

If you have already made a review topic before this topic was made, then you may simply post a link to your existing topic. Please state if it has spoilers in it or not. If you have not made a review post yet but would like to, then put your review in here as a reply. If there are spoilers, then please put the spoiler space in.

If you post a seperate review topic after this topic has been created, then that topic shall be closed.

SPOILERS!!!!

WARNING

SPOILERS

Okay then here is my review on the MOL:

Overview: The story is all about Takua and Jaller finding the mask of light and trying to find the seventh Toa and the Rahkshi trying to stop them. But if you are reading this, you porbably already know that.

Story: 7/10

The story was good and thought out and had some very good twists to it. Yet it still had parts that hinted about the ending. It flowed smoothly, and was usually pretty easy to follow with out getting lost. Some comedy thrown in here and there and good action all around. I just sometimes thought that, even for a seventy four minute movie, that in a few places it moved too fast.

Music: 8/10

The score was quite theatrical and while it had no techno music really, it always sounded very....Bionicle. It had nice slow melodies and fast action music, as well as some great villain music. I would like a soundtrack for this. The only thing that lowers the rating for this, is that there isn't a whole lot of music so sometimes you can here things multiple times and it might get repetitive. But this rarely happens.

Voices: 9/10

Absolutely great. The voices for each character fit them perfectly. Kopaka has that cool guy feeling to him and he sounds perfect despite the fact that most of his lines are one word. Tahu has a good voice that matches his temper. Gali while sounding perhaps a bit older then she was described still has a good voice. Making her sound wise. Pohatu I never really thought of how he would sound but I think he has a great voice. Onua sounds strong. Of the Matoran, Hewkii, Hahli, and Takua are the best. Makuta sounds almost like Darth Vader and he is great at it. the Rahkshi have great.......sounds?? And the Turaga sound old and their voices fit them well. There are a few voices that I did not like very much. Lewa is okay but I really think he should sound younger. Jaller should sound older and he sounds more like a trainee than a captain. But you get used to it. Over all they did pretty good selecting voices.

Modifications: 10/10

I personally think that all the modifications made to the characters for their movie debut were great. You may think them weird at first but you soon totally forget about it. The Rahkshi are the best example, when their heads open up and their Kraata hisses then they look the coolest. They look very fierce and mean. The Toa are good and the Matoran as well. Each differs from another, yet they all have the same basic build. The Turaga are hunched and seem like their bodies are good (despite the fact that they look more like Bohrok Va blink.gif ) The masks aren't altered too much and the heads look almost totally un touched. I like the movie version more than the product.

Action: 7/10

Good action. Lots of good Rahkshi fights and Chase scenes. But not too much so the movie is overloaded. Kopaka is the best when it comes to fighting them but it looks pretty cool when the other Toa are shown getting beaten. The Rahkshi seem like hunters and are quite good at using their powers. The Toa when they use their elemental powers together makes a very cool fight. But since no one really has any true fights with their swords or hands, I had to take some away from the rating.

Graphics: 9/10

These are absolutely astonishing. The Graphics are awesome and make details nice and accurate and are very clear and smooth. Though sometimes their are a few messups. (i.e. Jallers hand going right through Tahu's sword)

Overall: 7/10 not an average

I liked this movie alot. The Voices were accurate and the action was good. It even had death in it. (though temporarily) A good flowing story and nice music to accompany it. Graphics are smooth and very detailed. But there were few things I did not like.

There you go. Hope you enjoyed my review.

Well Here's my review,spoiler free:

This is a very fasinating movie. The storyline is great, even though sometime its too disneyish, and that one part when vakama CALMLY walks away from a Rahkshi was just, wrong
Sometimes also the voices are timed wrong, such as at the end when Takanuva yells at Makuta about the Matoran, the speaking starts about 5 seconds before the mouth Moves. Some animtion was wrong, such the one time where Vakama's robes "Magicaly" dissapeared at the Kohhli field. The voices are sometimes good, and sometimes bad,Tahu's,Gali's,Takua's,and others were good, but some voices like Lewa(which was prounounced Lee-wah instead of lay-wuh) and Onua, were just plain Bad.The opening was SWEET,especially the Music.Even without voilence, the fights were awesome. And Takutanuva was just plain awesome, even though the mask was cheesey.Overall, this moivie gets a 8.7/10.

SPOILER!!!!

weeeee!!!!!!!!

ahh!!!!

BOOM! Ouch.
OK, for my review, I've divided it up.

General: In general, I feel that this was a good movie. Not a great movie, but a good one.

Graphics: Very well done. It's not every day you can look at Takua in a different form and say that's Takua. They made sure to keep the basics.

Casting: The only problem I have with the voice casting is Lewa. If you look into his past, you find anger and turmoil, being infected and krana'd, it just doen't seem right to have his voice like that.

Length: Not very long, just barly made it over 2 hours. Still, it's pretty fun to watch. Overall, if you watch it once alone, once with the Wall of History, and once with the directiors comentary(which the sound of the movie if sightly off), then that's about 3 or 4 hours.

Score: 8/10

Ok. Here is my review on Bionicle: The Mask of Light:

Plot: Very good plot. A bit confusing at some points, but overall a nice addition to the comics and online clips. 9/10

Voices: Good voices in most cases (especially the turaga), but Lewa (which I still confidently call "Lay-wuh" not "Lee-wah") and Onua weren't exactly what I expected and gave a few fans a bad taste. 7/10

Music: Best music I've ever heard in a direct-to-video movie. Even better than some theatrical movies I've seen. It puts you in the right mood for the scene, gets ya tapping your feet, and still has a sort of primitive feel to it. 10/10

Graphics: Good graphics, nice lighting. Though some things seemed rushed such as when Gali sticks her head out of the waterfall. 9/10

Overall: This was pretty mush what I expected out of the movie. I'm a huge Bionicle fan and I can honestly say I can't wait to watch it again and again. I wish I had seen some Le-Matoran, but the drums thing was nice and I bet they'll be in the next one. 8.7/10

Here's my review.
SPOILERS!

NO TURNING BACK!

Plot 9/10:The plot was about Takua and Jalller finding the Avohkii mask of light, and then being sent off on a quest to find the quest.Jaller is the herald taking Takua's place because Takua keeps quiet on finding the mask of light which causes slight argument between them.

Voices 7/10:The voices were mostly what made me mad TLC did a bad job for this part.I will tell you what ones I didn't like and why.

Onua:I always imagined him with a raspy voice. Why?Because caves areusually damp and drippy so it must be humid,as such mostly living underground all the time your voice would get rasp.

Lewa:Bad,bad, bad all the way.He in my thought always sounded young and spontanious in the movie he sounds old and feeble.

Gali:She just is supposed to sound calm and as 'soothing as the ocean' but she sounds forty that's all I can say for her.

And Jaller:He sounded just how I pictured Lewa.He is supposed to be serious, instead he sounds like a surf bum.
I have goten used to these voices of corse but that does not mean I like them.

Graphics 10/10:If you are big on grapics and have not seen this movie, then you'll love it!Go on go get it or rent it,you know you want to...Anyways graphis are awesome in this movie.

Music 10/10:I loved the way the composer did this music it realy fit they're seens.Like the electric guitars when Tahu and Takua were surfing. The composer again did an awesome job on the music.

Modifactions 9/10:I liked the modifactions to the characters. They looked much better. The Rahkshi were very villinous looking. There was one default though, the Toa's tools and the Rahkshi's staffs just appeared out of no where when they were to be used,Miramax and TLC should have locked the Toa's tools on the backs of the Toa,and the rahkshi should have had they're staff ends on the back of they're hands and brought them up to make the staffs.

Overall 9/10:This movie is going to run along the same path as Disney and Pixars 'Finding Nemo'which is to hit shelfs in November. It is a definate must have.If you don't like the way it sounds, rent it.

77/80

Don't want me to lead an ocristra.

Okay, the review.

Great movie, no doubt about it. It has it's ups and downs. Wasn't all that I expected, but it's still very good.
Teasers- I'm talking about all of them before the movie came out. The comersials and short internet clips and all. They showed pretty much the best parts of the movie, which is what they were suppose to do. But, like some movies, they show all the bets parts, and lieave little exciting unknown stuff. However, the ending of the movie was pretty good, and lego did not want to give that away. So I'll review the characters.

Takua- I'd say his character was a little off. He's always been a little foolhardy, but they kinda exagerated it. He simply refused to except that he was the real hearald, until he had no choice. And he abandoned Jaller just like that! That is not how I magined the Chronicler- but he came through for us in the end. Plus, he doesn't like the jungle? Sence when? He spent most of his time traveling around the island!

Jaller- He seemed to fit right, though he didn't want to take responsibility for such a thing like the MOL? That doesn't seem ti fit him. However, he was willing to go through his duty to the last point. And he was killed in a sad way- just by grabbing the Turahk's staff. sad.gif However, takakunuva, or whatever, gave him life again. I remember a few BZPers who predicted something like that.

Tahu- Yeah, Tahu was all i'd though he'd be. The one who was extremely brave, but got into a lot of trouble! And his voice was good too, except I imagined it a little more gruffer.

Gali- I imagined her voice a little more younger. But her character was great, just as we all expected her to be. Even though she and Tahu were getting on eachother's nervs in the begining.

Kopaka- He is just like we've always pictured him. Solitary. but he did get a lot of action in beating up those Rahkshi. That was kool. Plus, we helped Onua and Pohatu, even though we don't exactly know how. he was great!

Lewa- His voice was great, and his charactor was better! He's always the jokester, and he can be seriouse with that goofoff voice! And quickfly! Yeah, Lewa was excelent in this movie!

Onua probably had the best suited voice and the best mask. It looked just like the real thing! Onua was very realistic, and it could have been like they had the et in it instead of some animation. He never really used his quake breakers much. sad.gif

Pohatu had a good role, in the Koli field and running around Onu-Koro. And he used his Kodan claws in a very cool way. However, he never really got to use his elemental powers at all, just throw his claws. Plus,he never kicked any balls around, and that's his high point! But his charactor, which is laid back and friendly, was perfect!

The Turaga were good, but we only saw Vakama, Nokama, and Onewa. We got to see a little of the other three, but they played no role other than stading along side the other Turaga. However, Vakama, Nokama, and Onewa were great!

Hahli and the other Matoran. The main matoran were Hahli, Jaller, and takua, but they were the only Matoran! Huki, Maku, and Hafu were just in the Koli match, and barely spoke a word. I would have liked to see more Matoran, but then the movie would be way too long. However, hahli was great. She united the Matoran and convensed them to follow Takanuva. It would be a cool thing when we get to that point in MNOLG 2.

The animation was excelent! There were a few parts, like in the begining where Jaller was walking around the Kohli feild, where it looked very fake, but mostly the movements were really good and smooth. They realy perfected the way these guys moved around their island.

All the animals were really cool. The Ash bear and Kahu bird were really cool, but didn't play big roles (Which is sad, cause the Kahu bird was made into a set) But Pewku was great, following Takua on his entire adventure, and was probably the only reason their managed to get around the island safely. Pewku was a really great character!

Well, that's enough for now. That movie was really great, and deserves and A at least! It had it's bad points, but overall, it was excelent! I can't wait for the next movie, and that should be even better!

LAST CHANCE!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

Hmmm.. the begining wasn't thrilling buut it got better when they played the koli mach. Plus I learned that koli is actually pronounced [Coal-lee]
and not [call-ee]. Makuta's voice was AWSOME!! The rakshi were used
PERFECTLY! Here's the answer to the whole Takua=Takanuva debate.
Takua IS takanuva! But I think the voices that could be better were Gali's,Vakama's, and lewa's. But I don't think the Irish/Carribean voice suited Lewa well.[No offence to Irish and Carribean
people.] But over all, it was good. I don't own it, But My friend does.
We watched it three times! Over all, I give it 9/10. Good job Lego! smile.gif

Spoilers!

Okay heres what I thought of the Movie.

Story: 8
I thought the story was pretty good, Although I thought that there were parts that could be improved. (Takua ditching Jaller, for who knows why) But most ofd it is very small and doesn't remove from the movie.

Voices: 6
There are some good voices (Kopaka Tahu, Makuta,Hahli and the Matoran, Gali, The Turaga for example) and some bad voices ( LEWA) and some inbetween voices (Pohatu, Onua, Takanuva)

Graphics: 10
Amazing animation. It was great. It blows away anything I've seen.

Music: [B]10[/color
The music was Excellent in MOL! It was one of the best aspects of it, if not the best. It adds ALOt to the Movie.

Overall: 9
I loved this movie. I watched it three times, and still never got tired of it. If you're a Bionicle fan BUY IT! It's well worth the cash.

Jallers Review (Minor Spoilers):

Action: 7/10

While there was lots of action in the movie, it wasn't to thrilling. It lacked sword fighting, but in general was more of a "Fight of the fittest brain". The Toa seemed to use their brains in out smarting rather than using brute force. When not fighting the Rahkshi, the action is superb. The scene with Takua and Tahu falling, plain excellent.

Scenery: 8/10

Scenery is a main point in film making. Creative Capers did an awsome job in creating this magical world. It makes me want to go to Mata-Nui and live there instead of this enviroment we call "home" (I mean, common! The atmosphere is burning away because of the massive amount of smoke. wink.gif )

Voices: 9/10

The first time round the voices didn't seem to good, except for those select few (Ex.: Lewa, Kopaka, Tahu, Vakama, etc.). When you watch it several times more, you get used to them, and begin to love the sounds coming out of the characters mouths (except for those screams wink.gif ). Pohatus seemed to dramatic, almost at all times. Kopaka's was excellent, although it lacked any voice (dramatic vocalizations) (sounded as if he was a robot, same voice at all time).

Storyline: 10/10

Absolutally fantastic! I loved it all through the movie. But if they could've explained some more things, such as the Rahkshi's powers (for non-Bionicle fans), then it would've been more clear as to why Tahu gets angry or why Takua is in fear.

Outside Viewers: 9/10

What I mean by "Outside Viewers" is when people who know absolutally nothing about Bionicle ,think of them as just robotic people with masks and then see the movie. I watched this with my dad and younger sister (45 and 12). Both of them were glued to the screen. I loved how this movie convinced my dad and sister that I wasn't liking a "four year old toy".

Overall: 8.6 (averaged)

The movie kept me watching and listening, and I myself watched it a couple more times. Absolutally wonderful, Lego has done a excellent job in making this film. Like BZP said, it had to attract many audiences, and they did just that. I highly, highly, highly suggest that you at least rent this film.

I agree with you, CtB, about several points, but I also have some things I`d like to add:

1. I agree about the turahk waiting thing at the end. What exactly was he doing at the time? I made a thread about it.

2.The movie should have explained more about the rahkshi`s powers. Epecially tuhrak and kuhrahk, since theirs are the most unique. If I didn`t know about bionicle beforehand, I would have been really confused.

3. I disagree about the battles. except for the last one, I thought they were way too short. During most of the battles, they often cut to takua and jaller while the toa were fighting. Sometimes, they fought really slowly. The battles should have been as fast paced as the last one.

4. Tahu`s "strategy". Ok, he has two big swords,a nd instead of actually using them, he sticks them into the ground? The way he was using them, they might as well ahve been normal rods.

5. The final "battle". "Witness! The Ultimate sporting event between good and evil!" Making the final battle a kolhii match, ever since I found out in augut, just seemed childish, and totally unfitting of makuta`s charachter. After actually watching the movie, the battle was the best in the entire film. In fact, if makuta had not declared it to be a kolhii match, it would have seemed just like a regular fight!

Why did lego have to add that line to the movie? It really dumbed down the entire thing. So much so that I would raise the unanimous "B+" given by BZP to the movie to at least an "A-" if such an action was taken.

--------------------
"Toa," Zaktan said, a harsh laugh echoing in multiple voices. "You are an anachronism -- pure and noble heroes, still striving for right in a universe of chaos, unwilling to admit that your day is long over."And what is going to replace us? Monsters like you?" Tahu asked.Zaktan nodded and raised his weapon. "We will walk over your bodies, Toa, on our way to a new age."

Sorry for double posting. I would have put this in the above post, but it says "Topic is locked" Some things I forgot to put in my review (once it's locked, you can't edit):

For Unexplained moments: When Gali is meditating, she appears to be floating above the ground. How could she do that?

For Nice Touches: I like how Takua reacted to the mask being hot after it had been in lava. I mean, I've seen so many films where something has been in lava (or similar heat), and people just pick them up with bare hands!

And something else, like someone else said: Guurahk's power was never demonstrated. Now that's not tragic, but they didn't show it once!

And about Turahk: When Takanuva immobilizes him with light, he is standing still. Had he had been battling Gali and Pohatu, he would have been...well, in a position other than standing straight. And that can be partially explained, as he can immobilize his opponents with fear.

The topic locking thing got me in a fix for a few moments. That's all I have to say.

Bionicle: Mask of Light was incredible; even better than I expected! The movie storyline stayed very close to the original storyline, and each Toa Nuva had their own moments of spotlight and cool scenes! I thought the voices for each character were very good and in-character! I liked how the Bohrok made an appearance in the movie, although I'm not really sure why they were there... huh.gif The graphics were great, there was plenty of action and exciting scenes, and my favorite part of Bionicle: Mask of Light was either the Toa Nuva's final confrontation with the Rahkshi, or Makuta and Takanuva's kohlii match. Considering all factors, I shall rate Bionicle: Mask of Light 10/10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest).

Ultimate Tahu Nuva

I'm sure we've all figured out that this is a mondo spoiler topic, but....
SPOILERS

Okay, now that that's all done: (forgive me if I deviate from the usual review format)
I liked this movie. I got into Bionicle from the MNOLG, and the toys are admittedly the coolest thing since Transformers.
During the opening music/scenery I cheered. I also liked the little intro story of the island, even if there was occasionally a little too much gravel flying.
There were a few things that irked me:
1. Though I'm aware that everyone has a different take on Bionicle, I felt Onua was butchered. I expected him to be very sagely, and have a deep voice. His acting like a rich uncle to Pohatu irked me seriously. I mean, in the comics and game, he always seemed to be the one uniting the Toa, rescuing Lewa, etc. I would have expected Turaga Whenua to seem more like the Onua we saw. Pohatu seemed a little to self-righteous, but I could overlook that. Everyone else seemed right on as far as I was concerned, especially Kopaka. Oh man, he was definately the best-done Toa in the whole film.
2. The new looks. I had mixed feelings about this. Most of them looked really awesome, but the mask-morphing disturbed me, at least at first. I got used to it pretty quickly though.
Now, there were a few things I really really really enjoyed (to be distinguished from the things I really enjoyed and really really enjoyed):
1. Our hero, Takua. They could not have chosen a better center for the film.
2. The references to other Bionicle incarnations, especially the game, though more comic involvement would have been cool. Still, no complaints here.
3. Makuta. I'm beginning to like this guy.

That's all for me!

All right, I'm dividing my review into two parts: spoiler and non- spoiler:

The non-spoiler part:

The Voices: They were really cool- Onua's (stongman) and Lewa's (still lee- wah; Irish sounds good w/ treespeech, if ya ask me...) surprised me a little, but now I like how it worked out. Also, Takanuva sounds like he's talking though a funnel (sort of)... G2G, I'll finish tomarrow! biggrin.gif

alert.gif Spoilers alert.gif

Story
While "buddy movie" is hardly an inappropriate description for Mask of Light, I see this movie as more about Takua coming to accept his responsibility as the Seventh Toa. For a good part of the movie, Takua is shown as a free spirit, unwilling to accept his duty, and his destiny. (Yes, I chose those two words deliberately.) However, once he sees what he has done by refusing to be the Herald, he has a change of heart, and begins to take more responsibility, until he dons the titular Mask and becomes Takanuva.
The battle (or Kolhii game, if you prefer) with Makuta is very well done. Makuta's taunts are reminiscent of Count Dooku and Darth Vader in Star Wars. I also like the way the movie cuts between the battle and Hahli's speech to the gathered Matoran.

Characterization
Considering the fine line the casting department had to walk, I think the voices and characters turned out well. After all, everybody has their own idea of what the various Bionicle characters sound and act like. I think almost everyone agrees that Tahu, Kopaka, and Takua were just about perfect, but I personally think that almost all the characters were well-cast. Hahli, alternately sassy and innocent; the ever outgoing Pohatu; Onua, gruff but friendly; Vakama, wise and noble; all work, even if they weren't what I would have pictured. (But then, I never gave a whole lot of thought to the character's voices, so I don't have any prejudices.)

Visual
This movie is absolutely gorgeous to watch. There is a slightly fake look in places, but the Fimmaker's Commentary reveals that this was intentional. The much talked-about alterations to the characters work very well. The animators give the characters body language all their own. (Vakama almost reminds me of Yoda in places.)
The environments are extremely well realized. The slight haze in the long shots of Ta-Koro really brings Tahu's village to life. I think my favorite may be the cathedral-like look of Onu-Koro.

Audio
I've already gone into the voices, so I'll talk about the sounds here. The variety of sound effects is amazing. Things like the buzzing and humming of wildlife in Le-Wahi and the ever-present bubbling of lava in Ta-Koro really help bring those areas to life. The sounds the characters make add another dimension to them as well, from the slight whirr audible in closeups of the Toa, to Makuta, who sounds like a combination of a T-Rex and an old roller coaster. (Roller coaster and heavy equipment sound effects were actually used to create Makuta's sounds.)

Music
Man, oh man. Nathan Furst did an absolutely stunning job on the music. He gave it a real epic quality. In fact, it reminds me a LOT of the soundtrack from The Two Towers in places.

Overall
Mask of Light is an excellent movie, and a worthy addition to the Bionicle mythology. The filmmakers did a good job keeping the story self-contained, although it does spill over occasionally. Regardless of what you think about the changes made to the characters, seeing your favorite Toa in action in full 3D living color is a blast. This is a movie any Bionicle fan (and especially any fan of Kopaka or Tahu) should see.

Some little touches I noticed:

  • Pewku's shell looks exactly like a widened Bohrok headplate. I don't mean sort of, I mean exactly.
  • When Jaller dies, his heart light flares once, almost like a dying gasp. The light from it is visible, even though the light itself is hidden.
  • When the Rahkshi are actively using their powers, their Kraata and staffs glow.

SPOILERSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Ok, I Think The MoL Is A Mint Film. One Of The Very Few Cheesy Bits Is Where Takanuva And Makuta Fall Into That Pool Of Protodermis. One Of The Funnyest Bits Is Where Jaller Says:
"Kohlii Head! You Could Have Been Makuta Bones!"
Takanuva Replies
"I Could Have, But I'm Not"

Anothe Funny Bit is Where Pewku Folds Up. My Fave Cahracter Is Lewa Nuva. Man He Rocks.
"Why the Infight?" (I think)
"Why Groundfoot When You Can Airsoar?"

My Rating:
Sound: 9/10
Graphics: 10/10
Extras: 7/10
Story: 10/10
Characters: 9/10

DK's MoL Review-a-bob

Spoilers!

quelque chose vous non vouloir regarder si vous non vouloir le film

algo que usted no desea mirar si usted lo hace no deseado la película
estropeada

Okay, First thing, some of the voices i HATED, i mean in the making they say they wanted to make the characters acceptable to everyone, don't get me started.

Voices: 8/10
The Only Two I Really despised were Gali's And Lewa's I Mean, They both sounded really old. Otherwise, great.

Music: 10/10

Just.. well, really really great.

Modifications: 9/10

Just Lewa's Mask. That really wrecked the character. A Flat Bottom? It's not like someones face just cuts off beneath the mouth! Otherwise, they did a good job with the hands, and a really good job on Tahu's poisoned mask.

Graphics: 10/10
I Loved this bit, smooth motions on the characters and great scenery. This just made the other bad things a tiny bit better

Extras: 6/10
Where is the love? The Advertising.. where exactly was the extended trailer, and Sneak Peek doesn't live up to it's wording, the best two were the making, and the wall of history.

QUOTE (Raptordx1 @ Sep 22 2003, 06:20 PM)
1. I agree about the turahk waiting thing at the end. What exactly was he doing at the time? I made a thread about it.

In the book it says that Gali and Pohatu grabbed it by the arms when Takua ran to Jaller. Also, in the movie, right before Takua ran to Jaller, you could see Gali and Pohatu jump up from behind Turahk. They mustv'e let go when Takua turned into Takanuva because they knew he could defeat Turahk.

Voila! My special review! (From just about 10 minutes ago, watching it. wink.gif )

Voices: I give the MOL 9.5/10 on the voices.

Here are the voices:
Tahu: WHOOO HOO! I LOVED THIS GUY! He has a voive I kinda associated with him. Strong, violent, and GREAT!

Gali: Uhhmm... this was what took the half point off. It was GOOD, but... just... dunno, it sounded wise, but a bit too old.

Pohatu: Fun, cool, you know, generally the voice of someone who likes making jokes.

Onua: Ahh... Onua. he was my favoirte voice in the whole movie! Strong, yet wise. Powerful, and commanding. "WELCOME TO ONU-KORO!" Geesh, I LOVED that.

Lewa: Heehehheee. He was good, and jovial sounding. But the Irish, or maybe Wesh accent was a bit.... over. tongue.gif But not bad.

Kopaka: This guy was GREAT! Chilly, and a strong voice. And possesser of the greatest line of the movie! "Rahkshi, washed and chilled."

Takanuva: An older form of Takua. Much more powerful.

These aren't Toa, but they're still cool.

Takutanuva: Whoo boy. A lot like Makuta. The dual voice is cool.

Makuta: Deadly, strong, and evil. Whooo boy. I LOVED this guy.

Non-Toa: 9.3...
Jaller: AHHH! This guy, not exactly what I expected. But still, neato. Sounded a bit young though.

Takua: Yup. Irresponsible. Cool. And one heck o' a mask. wink.gif Possibly BEST non-toa line: "Could have been. But I'm not."

Vakama: Heh, wise, and old. Nothing much to say. tongue.gif

Nokama: Sounds LOt like a feminem Vakama.

Whenua, or Onewa... (Whatever his name is. >> ): Not bad. Yah know, I just didn't like it. .7 ponits taken off. Yeah, I'm mean. wink.gif

And thats the voices.

Graphics: 9.9/10

These were GREAT! The slow mo points were cool. The only part I didn't like was.... the infamous balls of energy. They were... well, just didn't like them. >.<

Sounds: 9/10 Some music I didn't like, but the rest was GREAT!

Voila... I'l add more when I think of it. tongue.gif

It was a 10/10. I didn't see a kohlii match between Takanuva and Makuta coming up. It was suprising. That was my favorite part of the Movie. My other favorite part was Takua copying Vakama's words. Another part that I wasn't expecting was when Takua was really Takanuva! My favorite character was Takua and Takanuva.
Here's my favorite quote:

MY BIONICLE MASK OF LIGHT REVIEW

By: Vorahk1Panrahk2

My review will contain the fallowing information:

How good the animation is as compared to the action figures.

How the voices are: Are they appropriate?

About the animation: Did they do a good job?

Music.

Action.

Suspense.

Overall review.

HOW GOOD THE ANIMATION IS AS COMPARED TO THE LEGO FIGURES

Toa: For the Toa, they did a pretty good job. Its pretty close to the toys, but they could have done a tiny bit better on Onuas quake breakers. I don’t think that Kopaka’s shield should have had two big holes in it. No point in using a shield with two large holes in it. It looks like the only thing that the shield could block is a small weapon. I didn’t see the propellers on Gali’s weapon at all. They could have added the propellers to the back of her aqua axes, but they didn’t.

The masks: The masks were overall pretty good. Here is my opinion on the best, to worst mask: Onua’s, Tahu’s, Pohatu’s, Kopaka’s, Lewa’s, and finally, Gali’s. They could have made Gali’s mask a little fatter around the mouth area, and Lewa’s could have been skinnier around the mouth area.

Matoron: The matoron were really good. The voices were perfect, and the masks were good. They animators did a good job with Takua’s mask, it was a good idea for his mask to keep getting crooked whenever he fell.

Turaga: Well, the only thing I really have to say, is if you look at the Turaga during the movie, you will notice, that they are made up of Bohrok va parts, they even have the Krana holders on their backs!

Rahkshi/Makuta: The Rahkshi are pretty good in the movie. They did good with the Kraata. Doubling the staff ends though made it look cool, but I think they should have stuck more to the toy models. Makuta was a good character, though some of his actions weren’t Makuta like. They did a good job with him in the death Kohlii scene though. He was overall pretty good.

HOW ARE THE VOICES, ARE THEY APPROPRIATE?

Tahu: I think Tahus voice was overall pretty good. He has no gruff-nes to his voice, and that makes his voice pretty good.

Gali: They did pretty good with Galis voice too. It is es exactly as I imagined it. Not to girlish. Just right.

Lewa: Lewas voice fit him perfectly! Especially for all that tree-speak ( which is fun to talksay!) His voice has that accent to it that makes it perfect.

Kopaka: Well, he didn’t talk much, so I cannot say anything but this. It was okay.

Onua: Too gruff, a little less gruff and he would have a good voice. I think they could have done better.

Pohatu: Appropriate. I think his voice was overall pretty good. Not really how I imagined, but it fits for the Toa of stone.

Takanuva: They could have made it a bit better, even if it does come from Takua. They could have made it a little less childish, and more Toa like.

Takua: Perfect! Not to childish, not to adultish. Just right

Jaller: I think his voice is perfect too. I always imagined the normal matoron voice high pitched, and the 2003 a little older sounding. But his voice is fitting for the captain of the guard!

Makuta: Perfect! Good and evil, they could not have done better!

Rahkshi. The roars were pretty good. But their should have been more Rahkshi parts. Not enough Rahkshi.

Halhii/Huki: Both voicess were pretty good. Halii’s was perfect, and Huki’s could have done better. He sounds like a Hawaiian surfer dude!

Turaga: Overall, Vakama’s was perfect, Onewa’s was OK, and Nokama’s sounded to all knowing like. If they did not give Nokama the accent, it would have been perfect (Toa is like Twa, only is like ooni etc.)

I think that’s about it. PM me if I missed one.

ANIMATION, DID THEY DO A GOOD JOB?

Yup, the animation was wonderful! Complaints and complements below.
Complaints: They said in the making that it was important to get gestures in the movie, but when Jaller says to Takua: “Were SUPPOSED to be on our way to a Kohlii match!” Their were a couple gestures in their that were not needed. Same with Makuta. When Makuta says: “Again the prophecies of the matron, oppose my WILL!!” he makes a gesture of rage throwing his arms in the air, then bringing them down with his fingers open. That to me has always looked a little wrong.

The Toa Nuva weapons seemed to appear out of nowhere. Its like Tahu reaches behind his back and two big swords appear. Same with Rahkshi staffs. (But if you look at the attack at Ta-Koro seen, a Rahkshi lifts up his arm, it looks like the arm whirs, and a staff grows out of it.)

I think they did the mouths and the hands well. At first I complained about it, but now I don’t seem to mind.

Appearence: Yes, the Toa HAVE had better days. Tahu was good. Gali was too skinny, Onua’s head wasnt in the right place. Kopka’s shield looked like it coudnt block anything. (It had two big holes in it! Even you Kopaka fans have to agree on what I just said!). Pohatus head wasn’t in the right place either.
Lewa was good.

Scenery: Yes, the scenery for each Koro and Wahi was wonderful! I think it was all perfect!

If I missed anything, PM me.

MUSIC

Kinda a combo of Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter, but overall. . . BZP FOR MOL SOUNDTRACK! The music was just beautiful, and I really was pulled right in at the very beginning after they said: And unleashed them, he did. It was just wonderful!

ACTION

Okay, the action was really good. I especially liked the attack on Ta-Koro, and the battle in Onu-Koro. The action was really good, the special effects made the movie fabulous, and the wonderful animation was also part of it. The music contributed some too.

SUSPENSE

The suspense was just as good as the action, except its kinda opposite the animation contributed a ;itt;e bit, while the music made it really suspenseful. Almost like the opening title.

OVERALL REVIEW

And now the part that everyone has been waiting for. . .My overall review. Well. . . this movie was ful of the things I would expect from Bionicle. So much detail was put into it. Like the mining room in Onu-Koro. The music was excellent, the action was awesome, the Toa preformed just asa I thought they would, IT was close to the storyline, and My only complaint, is not enough Onua. Here it is. . . A+ Hey, animators, if you want extra credit, you could put more Onua in the nest one.

I really thought that Pohatu should have sounded like a ninja turtle voice or something.
Pohatu: Dude! Tahu, it's only a Koli game, man.
Lewa shouldn't have sounded so Irish or whatever. I'm not sure quite what I wanted him to be thought. Maybe more flowing or sing-songish. But, that's just my opinion. :-P

GNG's Review- Part II!!!

Gali: I was soooo surprised when I really heard her voice, because it suonded almost exactly as I'd do it when I'd read my comics- wise, just like when I first read her bio!

Tahu: hard to describe- It just... worked (and he sound weird when he's angered by Kurahk's power!) but it worked!

Kopaka: It was perfect! (need I say more?)

OK at last ive seen it, so heres my review...

Visuals 18/20
OK, for the most part, the CGI is good, in some cases excelent, but in others is a bit lacking, so this gets a 18 not a 19. I liked little touches like Kopaka's shield design and DO like the masks. When i first saw screens of the movie, it looked like the masks were just faces, but they are masks, just with the mouth removed, which i like. Makuta's lair was great, the green mist went well and the kraata were fantastic.

Sound 19/20
The music was excelent, but sadly some of the voices were not right. (Also, all american, why? a good brit bad guy would have been great) Lewa just to me sounded wrong, and i'm not sure why, and jaller was annoying. But the others were great, especially Tahu, but i expected more of a Yami voice for him.

Story 11/20
OK, let me elaborate. The story, for the most part was good, but in some cases very rushed and the plot seemed to skip at the end, just jumping to the credits without a real climax. I liked the Kohli match with makuta, but there needed to be more, and the takutanuva thing was just odd, not like the set and the way he was used was unexplained and quite frankly bad. The best section was Onu-koro, but again it was rushed to get to the end, and i feel with a bit more padding this could have been a 2 hour delight, not an hour and 15 mins quick rush to Metru-Nui. I felt other major moments were missed as well, Ta-koro was destroyed, but it seemed to miss that out. Some great music, looks on faces and destruction was required, not jumping to another scean.

Money Moments 15/20
OK, whats a money moment? Its the scean you remember once its over, or the many. Well to me there was only 2. Tahu's infection cureing, and Onu-koros demise. There could have been a veru cool fight between Gali and Tahu, which again was missed. These parts were good, almost great but too few to shout about.

Characters 14/20
OK, some were very good, complex and worth having, others were skipped, others were missed for the most part and others were just wrong. I loved Tahu and Onua, and even Kopaka, but sadly Onua appeared for the end, and 3 turaga were missed out entierly, par their toa. I feel there needed a more complex character development for Takua, who just suddenly realises he's the TOL all along, and Jallers death was plain lame, he diddnt look like he even died while he was doing it.

Over all- 77%, rounds to an 8/10 a good film, but a pointlessly fast plot and lack of epic moments failed the film. On paper its great, but it dosnt work as a film. It looks and sounds great though, so at least you can enjoy what your seeing, even if your left in the dust a few times.
