This is a majorly discussed topic dupe.
Also, if you wish to make a topic, please make it have a more narrowed down point. Only official topics should have a HUGE topic to discuss, like all of Harry Potter. Try to get approval for an official topic instead of starting a topic like this. -------------------- All delighted people raise their hands

Order of The Phoenix is my favorite. The storyline beat Goblet of Fire hands-down in my opinion.

I've read all of them except Order of the Pheonix, which I've just started. SPOILER! only read below if you've read the fourth book.
Can you believe that Voldemort's back? It's like the first 3 were pointless except introductions and meeting characters. I'm reading the sixth book right now. I love HP, though in the... what, two years was it? since the fifth book, it kinda wore of for a while and I forgot bits and pieces, but the sixth book quickly reminded me of it all.
About to start chapter 17... noone give anything away outside a spoiler tag or I will hunt you down. --\\_yg -------------------- Yes, I plan to advertise this until my account rots, seeing as it's basically my best work that I've ever posted here. |

After reading a thing on Grindelwald, it seems Rowling has something against Christians...how surprising. what makes you say that? People love to contrast fiction with religion (don't see the difference my self), often saying that an author is against their religion or whatnot because they seem to think the text is implying something. Most of the time, it's just paranoia. As an author myself, it is 99% of the time a coincedence, and never intended at all. The only relgious thing out of all of the HP books that was obvious was when Harry died. That was about it. And BTW, JKR is Christian. -------------------- ![]() "Grove giveth and Gates taketh away." |

Grindelwald is named after an actual person who was killed by "Christians". I am not paranoid, I just don't see how she could be a Christian, but be so into witchcraft :/ Can you cite that first part? Cause I'm not getting anything for it on the Internet. And the second, seeing as her use of magic can't actually be used, I don't see what you mean. It's fantasy. And it's not teaching anything bad. He could be reffering to St. Gellert who was martyred when he was killed by pagans when he tried to convert Hungary to Christianity -------------------- You can't say civilizations don't advance...for in every war they kill you in a new way - Will Rogers

Possible spoilers: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I think you should remove that, its not BZP approprite I had a feeling you would come along and say that. If people are a little more mature about it, it'll be fine. (you certainly didn't help the issue) I'm fine with it, but in case you didn't remember, this is a all ages website, ok? I don't think parents would like to see that on a website made for all ages, I'm being concerned for the younger members, that happens to be mature, bringing that up sure isn't That's just part of the problem though. If someone were to say "Harry Potter likes girls!" everyone would be like "um... okay? What's interesting about that?" and be perfectly fine with it, and I'm sure few parents would object to their seven-year-old reading that. Yet when someone says » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « everyone suddenly gets all riled up about how that's not kid-friendly and is a "mature" subject. Well... why? I don't see a distinction.

I don't see a distinction.I don't see a problem with it, this is a calm, rational discussion. now if the phrase "dumbledore is gay" was being used in a derisive manner then it would certainly be inappropriate. but the way I see it, Biomech was simply stating a known fact about the series so it really shouldn't be a problem. -------------------- You can't say civilizations don't advance...for in every war they kill you in a new way - Will Rogers

Can anyone post a link to the HBP teaser trailer? Thanks Puffin(B-W) look it up on the site that must not be named. There was a story on MSN a few months ago that said that deathly Hallows would have to spilt into two seperate movies as nothing can really be cut out of the movie without seriously harming the story, and because the story is too long to fit into a single movie. -------------------- You can't say civilizations don't advance...for in every war they kill you in a new way - Will Rogers

Blah, isn't Daniel Radcliffe like twenty-one now? Playing a 16 year old kid? He's 19. Oh whoops. Lyg can't math. Still, considering the rate at which they're making these films... the age gap between actual age and movie age is growing... especially considering there'll be two parts to the seventh film. Making magic number eight films! =O It's liek, Discworld. -------------------- Yes, I plan to advertise this until my account rots, seeing as it's basically my best work that I've ever posted here. |
