Personally I hope Lego renews the Lucasfilm contract in 2008 and continues releasing more sets from the movies, re-desigining the old, not-so-accurate SW Lego sets, and hopefully making more Expanded Universe sets. Don't tell me the only EU set you're gonna release is the Tie/d! Make the Virago!
While I'm not opposed to the creation of a new, original Lego Space theme akin to the old ones ( I liked the old ones a lot), I hope Lego keeps Star Wars, because the Star Wars sets are, IMHO, much better that the original Space themes. So if we can only have one or the other, Star Wars all the way!
EDIT: Thankfully, I also doubt Lego will want to end the SW sets, because I believe they are the second-best-selling LEgo line, after Bionicle |
Hear ye hear ye! I only liked some o the Lego space lines, but SW is da best! Yeah, more EU. It'd be so sweet to have Jacen and Jaina minifigs, not to mention Zekk and the Second Imperium. I agree, some sets were bad models, but the Republic Gunship rocks. I do dislike the Emporer's Shuttle or whatever you call it, coz it isn't on the right scale, way too small. I have alot of questions:
When Star Wars ends, do you think they should make more UCS? LIke the Acclamator Class Assault Ship, the Droid Control Ship, or Grievous' ship?
Should the come out with EU ships? Like Yuuzhun Vong ships and minifigs? Or NJO stuff?
Should they make army makers? Like 100 Clone troopers, StormTroopers, Etc.?
Should they endorse Little Armory?
Tell me what you think,

While I would love New Jedi Order stuff, that wont happen because Lego's contract with Star Wars only allows them to make movie stuff, not Expanded Universe sets.

It would be possible to see army builders though. They did it with the battle droid carrier. But I dont think there would be 100 troop sets.

Hey hey guys...just picked up a few original Trilology sets. Picked up Jabba's Prize(4476) for $3 today, and the Rebel Snowspeeder(4500) a few days ago for a $1. (got it from one of those bent-item stores...the box was smashed up, but all the peices inside was fine.)
Anyways, I picked up Jabba's Prize just for Boba Fett. I kind of wish Lego'd redo his mini-fig with a face (with the mask being one piece, and not having a cut out "T") and detachable backpack(connected like how Doc Ock's arms are..)
and I really like the Rebel Snowspeeder...but is the grappling hook meant to fit in the gun in the movies, or does it just hang like the lego set?

unfortunatley Lego can't make the Amry builder things (I think that is where there are 5 or so minifigs in a set) due to another construction company purchasing the rights to make those kind of sets, so it is sorta against the law and stuff like that.
But i suppose Lego could make a set similar to the 7126 Battle Droid Carrier. Like maybe some kind of Republic Transport thingy with 4-6 Clone troopers, it might be like 14.99-19.99, but hey I'd still get it, maybe even a few.

There's several companies out there that like to do the "Troop Builder" treatement.
Also is the Super Battle Droid a technic one or the minifig one?

I imagine it would form a sort of symbiotic relationship with the books. (Kid reads a Star Wars novel, finds out they are releasing their favorite ship as a set...or Kid finds set, really likes set and then tracks down the novel to find out more about the set..)
The novels aren't the ony place where future Lego Star Wars sets could come from, either. Lucas is developing a Star Wars TV series, so I'm sure if Lucas gets it on the air before Lego's license expires, they could do desgins based off that series.

Erm, if you mean me, minifig. And DD, it IS legal, TLC released minifig packs like the droid pack, the Sith pack and others. Although they include cards and stands, they are just a cheap, easy way to get more. I think you mean copyright infringement, but that's if TLC copied the minifigs, package and design, which they didn't. Besides, if what you're saying was true(which it ain't) then all several-for-one deals on toys are an infringement. It's not illegal to sell bulk supplies. Moose out,

That information was from a lead designer in the Lego Star Wars, he said they could not sell the characters in an individual pack, if that is not enough proof for you than what is? As for the community packs, there is most likely some loophole behind that, maybe because it has motorcycles and stuff. But still, if Lego could make sets of five minifigs or so like they use to, why wouldn't they now? Lego would most likely sell those like they use, because I know a lot of people, who would love to have a small set of just five or so minifigs. An they did not "patent" it they bought the rights to make sets like that.
