Kirilin Toa of Trees
Okay, this is a bit off the deep end, but that's me. You'd best expect that when reading my theories, as I watch too much Star Trek and think too much overall. ;)

My theory, which is based on really nothing except my own bizarre whims:

'Mata Nui is one island in an endless expanse of ocean, correct? And you have six regions... volcano, snow, water, forest, desert, and caves....
You've all been in geology class, right? Well, back in ye olde days, all the continents were one big thing, a really really big island, shall we put it.
Then they all split over time due to erosion and continental plate shifts and all that good stuff, scattering hither and thither, until we are where we are now: seven continents. If you look at Mata Nui a different way, there are really seven regions--there is also Kini-Nui, the legendary part.
You may have some idea by now where I'm headed with this...
Each of the regions of Mata Nui and our seven continents are similar:

Ta-Koro and Africa--the hot areas.
Ko-Koro and Antarctica--the icy areas.
Po-Koro and Asia--the largest areas.
Le-Koro and South America--the foresty areas.
Onu-Koro and Europe--this one is a bit of a stretch, but you see old, ancient and mysterious stuff--kinda like Europe. It's also flat, a lot of it.
Ga-Koro and Australia--the small wet place with islands.
Kini-Nui and North America--the northern place, also commonly known as 'the place to live' (why, I couldn't fathom)... so sort of legendary in effect.

So hence, Mata Nui is Earth, pre-formed. The island shall split and the ocean shall form into oceans.

And that's not all...

Mata Nui, Makuta and the Toa may be basis for religions of the Greeks (based on elements and such) and others... Makuta might be evil forces and Mata Nui could be the generally accepted 'God,' where 'Paradise' is the generally accepted 'Heaven,' or 'afterlife.'
Rahi, Husi, Maha, Ussel Crabs etc could become animals.
Turaga and Tohunga could become humans.
Bohrok could become incarnations of evil forces... incarnations of Makuta, so in effect, evil things like hatred, starvation, war.... as humans, like terrorists, racist cults, whatever else...
And Krana and Kanohi could represent technology and the creations of humans. Sometimes bad and sometimes good.... either controlling us (ie, video game addicts) or helping us.

So really, Mata Nui and the inhabitents are past representations of Earth.'

That is my theory, that it is, by Ann Elk........................
er......sorry....... :lookaround:

Well, thoughts? Anything to add or disagree with?

Le-Koro and South Africa--the foresty areas.

Don't you mean South America? I had that theory once, I just couldn't figure out the continents. I have one for the U.S.

Le-Koro- Northeast, foresty area
Po-Koro- Southwest and Nevada
Ko-Koro- Alaska
Ta-Koro- Hawaii
Onu-Koro- Area around Mammoth Cave
Ga-Koro- California, Florida
THE BRICK LAYER
Nice theory, but every imaginary world is based on our own.

Ta-Koro- Hawaii

You mean Florida. It's about 110 degrees lately! It's too hot! (that's why us floridians get out of school first ;)) Hawaii is about middle. Same temp year round.
Minglex
Yes, but the earth has different shaped continents...

I put Hawaii because of the volcanoes.

I've got a theory like that, coincidentally :sarcasm: .  But it's actually a couple theories.  If the earth has tectonic plates all moving in one direction, eventually they'll all join on the opposite side of Pangea, right?  Right.  What if, either the future one or past one, Bionicle could have happened, or will happen?  God creates Earth.  Earth creates man.  Man destroys Earth.  God destroys man.  Earth is reborn.  Make sense?  Our creations are left behind, and they could have been our robotic pets, or something like that.  War units, shaped like people, I'm not sure how to put it.  You know what I mean.  I also wrote a fanfic about what I thought would happen originally, it's called 'That was now, this is then'.  Search for it in Fanfic.  Now, off to write my newly inspired fic...
Kirilin Toa of Trees
Ah, whoops, I did mean South America. :sarcastic:

True, Minglex, but it really makes no difference how the continents are shaped. Erosion could happen. :)

Nice theory, Legoresq! I like that title, very clever. I'll have to read that sometime.
GaliGee
I like your theory, Kirilin. Or it could be another planet that has a giant land mass that will split into separate continents.
The recursion is cool. God created our planet and put intelligent people on it -- and they (at least the ones at LEGO) created a new planet that exists in our imaginations! Because after all, we are characters in God's story just like the Tohunga, etc., are characters in LEGO's story. Think the Bionicle Group at LEGO should be renamed the Great Beings?...
Koniko
Now wait a stinkin minute! Mata-Nui is more like North America because it has Ice, Rain Forests, Volacanoes, Deserts, Caves, and lakes!
The Killer Instinct
Legoresq thats a bit funny come-to-think of it
DrkDrgyn
Legoresq makes sense with his theory of Pangea reforming. I really don't see robots being around in the past. Anyone play Monster Rancher, or, more importantly, watch the anime? The same, but with Monsters instead of Robots.
whynot22
Wow. That is a great theory. It is so cool! Like p'shaw!
Kirilin Toa of Trees
Well Koniko, North America isn't the only place with those landforms.... that's why I focused on the world. ;)

And yes, robots wouldn't seem to exist in the past.... however, we're not perfectly sure of what is in the past, are we? Asides, I see it that the Toa and Tohunga etc are more than robots. There's a mystical air to them. The title of part of the Biological Chronicles comes to mind... 'The Mystical and the Mechanical.' Toa aren't just robots. They're elements. So, they could also represent the forming of those elements.

Or the resurrection.
See, past or future, it works either way, I think.

Oh, hang on....... another theory coming.......... I think I'll post it later once it's developed.

thats my theory too :satisfied:
ive thought of the same thing
i think that the tohunga are evolved biengs, which have grown to live on the planets harsh conditions
MataNuiHero
i love that theory, and Bink's theory on how Matu-Nui is right below Easter Island! now i don't know which idea to put into my lego atlas and history book!
Kirilin Toa of Trees
Easter Island? Hmm, that's an interesting one.... I'll have to put that into my account. ;)
The Chaotic Bard
Very good theory. It is like Greek Myths. Do ya think it might just be crazy enough........
Koniko
Have you forgotten that Mata-Nui is a island and the Toa and co. are bio-mechanical as such Mata-Nui could never exist earlier and don't yell at me but I don't beleive in God.

Ga-Koro and Australia--the small wet place with islands.

Don't you mean Pacific?
I think of Le-Koro as New Zealand (forest)
...And Po-Koro as Aussie...
