First of all, this is like a short narrative story, but it is my theory, so plz don't move it.

The Toa have defeated the Bahrag, the threat was over. But the Queens started to melt into liquid Protodermis, and so do the Exos.

The Protodermis surrounds the Toa and takes their masks and weapons away, while making them wiggly and squiggly, like in Hiroki's avatar. The gold Kanohi's gold shatters off, revealing the old mask, which is soon stretched, hardened, and put on the faces. As for the weapons, they also transform into new things. Tahu's firesword becomes silver and splits into two, just like Kopaka and Lewa.

The molten Exos flatten out the chest balls, which are now mini Exos that can transform. The Toa NUVA emerge from the little pool and exit the nest.

Show me proof.  Anyway i think that this is one of the best theorys I've heard.  It explains how Tahu Nuva can be in the exo and since he has no armor on when he goes in I feel that this theory is even better.

contrary to very popular belief, i do not think that the merging of the toa while fighting the bahrag creates the toa nuva

from what i've read about the bionicle movie coming out in 2003, the masks the nuva wear are the masks of light.  i dont think it would be very good for the story line in the toa got upgraded to the nuva, then makuta comes back, and they get upgraded again with the masks of light.  it just doesn't make sense to me.  they'd be getting too powerful too quickly.  plus, they got semi-upgraded with the exos.

also, if the toa turn nuva while fighting the bahrag, wouldn't lego release the nuva around the same time as the bahrag since they are at the same time in the storyline???

i think lego has been trying to throw us off so when we find out how it really happens there will be more surprise.

edit: i'd ay they've done a pretty good job of it too (if that's what's really going on, of course)

It's not the Masks of Light.  It's the Mask of Light.  There is only one Mask of LIght...and it's going to found and possibly used by Tohunga (hmm)

But that is an interesting theory..however...if the Bahrag melting is what causes the evolution...wouldn't it be kinda bad?

Interesting Theory. They Only Part I Wouldn't agree with would Be The Melting Part. I Beleive They sort of Combine... The Exo Turns Completely White, and Morphs into The Toa into the Nuva... Kinda like sumthin off DBZ

if there's only one mask of light, then what is it's purpose?

I thoughtt the exos got put into a cell?  What I don't understand is how the Toa fight the Bahrag out of their exos (exactly like they did when they fought Makuta with their elemental power flowing out of their weapons). Why would they upgrade doing the same thing a seperate time? Do the exos increase their power after they have worn them?
