in the mnolg videos and stuff taipu has a ruru and hafu has a black pakari, but in the power pack set, the tohunga is hafu and has a black ruru. does this even belong in this forum? so which is which?

the mnolg may be wrong like it was with takua (yellow arms tan torso red feet)

Taipu=Pakari.
Hafu=Ruru.

In that mini video they got it mixed up. it is taipu but hes wearing the wrong mask.

how I tell them apart is  I build Taipu with Naparu's legs & whenua's mask

If you go by the MNOLG, Taipu wears a Ruru and Hafu wears a Pakari.  If you go by official LEGO information, as passed down by Leah, Hafu was correctly released with a Ruru, and Taipu wears...well, we don't really know what Taipu wears, but for now it's probably safe to assume he wears a black Pakari, but don't be surprised if it turns out that he wears something else.

The GBA game was released months before we ever saw Takua in the MNOLG, and it agrees with the coloration seen in the Backlot game.  While we don't have official confirmation yet, the primary blue mask makes a lot more sense for an official LEGO main character, given that way back in the old days of LEGOness, the only five colors used for bricks were black, white, red, yellow, and blue (hence this old logo), and LEGO still has a bit of a thing for making red/yellow/blue stuff every now and then.  Since he has been used as the main Matoran character in two games already, it's a safe bet that anytime LEGO intends to tell a story through the eyes of a Matoran, Takua will be involved, and we'll just have to see how he shows up in other venues.  Hopefully then people will stop arguing about which version is the official one...

Who knows, maybe they both are supposed to wear a black Ru Ru, anyway that's what I think.

Moving to Storyline...

I think that originally...Taipu was supposed to have a black Pakari, and Hafu the Ruru, but as I see that even the latest video has Taipu with a Ruru...I think Lego just decided to quietly smooth over the mistake.  As far as I'm concerned, Hafu has a Pakari and Taipu has a Ruru...I can't see Taipu in any other mask!  He looks like Joe Matoran with a Pakari, the Ruru gives him a distinct appearance!  Same goes for Hafu.

:ontopic: I agree with Nova Nuhvok, I can't see Hafu with a Ruru. He's a sculptor, and sculptors should have lots of strength! :off topic:   Does anybody notice PD's signature is gone?

no taipu has steangth and the reason for the ruru is its a unique looking mask unlike the pakari its plain

on the mnolag taipu has a black ruru and hafu a black pakari but the figure in the power pack is hafu with a ruru.
