I believe that makuta is a toa gone wrong. we hear rumors about how there is gonna be a toa of light well then makuta is the toa of darkness. Please post what you think makuta is

boxor boy
makuta is mata nui's brother. mata nui is the god of life and makuta the god of destruction. like zeus and hades. except makuta put mata nui in a sleep from which he would only awake if makuta was killed. nice idea though eok8

Well, if Makuta was the Toa of darkness then Mata Nui would be the the Toa of light, not Takua. Makuta has a bio on Bionicle.com. Read that to find more about him.

Kanohi of Indescribable Power
Nice idea. However Makuta is the god of detruction as boxor boy so nicely put it. Makuta can most defeinetly take on the form of a Toa, but I doubt that He really is a Toa.
The Green Rabbit
Makuta can take any shape, and that would include a Toa.  Chances are he can disguise himself as a Toa to get into a village and destroy it from inside.  When legends are told Makuta is represented as the rock, the one in the pic for his bio.  Makuta is the spirit of evil, and if he is destroyed, which can not be done by physical force and this is why the Toa never truly defeated him yet, then all evil will end.

No creatures, save the Toa, have ever seen the Makuta and returned. His lair was deep in the earth, guarded by the fearsome Manas. The Turaga's legend said that the Makuta was a whirling, kicking, screaming, clawing beast. That he--or IT--could be many things at once - cobra, tiger, hawk. But when he faced the Toa, he chose a very different form....

The Toa won a great victory in their confrontation with Makuta. At last, they believed Mata Nui and its people to be safe - but they were wrong. They discovered that they now must face a dangerous new foe: the Bohrok Swarm.
