Here is my theory. in the mnolg whenua says that the protodermis is the stuff of life so it seems reasonable that either they eat protodermis or the protodermis is what brings them to life.

Post here what you think.

Well, I don't think they eat Protodermis. If they did, you would probably see them selling it. I actually know Protodemis is used as currency, but I think in some way they couldn't live without it.Maybe Protodermis is vital in the production of new Matoran(in the storyline).

Protodermis confuses me. Like, if Matoran mine it, why aren't they Nuva-tized? And what were the Bahrag doing with it?

the protodermus the toa went in was liquid and transformed them. the protodermus used by tohunga as currency is solid and is worth alot like gold is for us. as for why the bahrag had the pool of protodermus-that might be in the new storyline.

Also, Protodermis seems to be the name for a form of energy.
Since the Toa unleash protodermic energy to create a cage to envelope the Bahrag (I think).

Let me clear this:
Toa Protodermis: The silver liquid in the bahrag lair the toa fell.
Matoran Protodermis: This stuff is not a liquid, but mined.
This stuff has been brought up as news before.
