remember when the toa shed the exo-suite and the bahrag said "you fools! you have no idea what you have unleashed!"? maybe the kal lived hidden in the protodermus and that's what we saw in the picture with tahu nuva rising! they could detect elemental energy! the exo-suite hindered the elemental energy, so when they got rid of it, the kal could detect them! the tubes opened for the kal to go up, but the toa surprised them and went down! the bahrag must have trapped the kal in there, and then they were exposed to the protodermus (or, maybe they were like that before) and became kal! the bahrag trapped them because the kal could become potential allies with the nuva!

Sorry but the Kal are not the things behind the Hau Nuva, those are the 2nd bad guys from next year. And also, the Kal have not been exposed to the protodermis, they were already like that since the before time. Please refer to the comments by GregF for further info.

As for them being trapped by the Bahrag, I think that might be very possible and I'm waiting to find out what the whole story is. Hopefully the next comic shines some more light on the mystery!

well, they haven't been truly exposed to the protodermus.  maybe that's because they were 100% formed by it!  i'm not saying that the theiry is perfect, but it's a start!  as for the things behind them being the other new enimies, he doesn't say that.

GF did say a while ago that the exo would return.  maybe the nuva figure out to use them to confuse the kal.

Yeah, he's right we should not forget that the "bumps"
are for the latter half of the year, and the kal have always
been here and are not of protodermis origins, Not sure that
they were there in the before time as the before time will not
be revealed until ages and is a mystery at the heart of the
BIONICLE storyline.

Yes it is very possible, and the next comic will not reveal alot
exept that we will get a clue as to the names of the next
enemy.

Makuta didn't unleash the bohrok it was a quote: "coincidence", but we all know it wasn't. Or at least, most of us I assume.

I think that when they beat the bahrag they unleashed the bohrok kal. But then the bohrok kal defeat the nuva(Greg f said they defeated them).

Hmm... the EXO the Kal? Im truly confused but i know one thing for sure... Lego better come up with sumthing more interesting than the last Bohrok saga!

I think that maybe the bahrag were guarding the kal - that's why as soon as the bahrag realized they were defeated they said the whole you-don't-know what-you've-unleased-thing. they knew that the toa were going to let an even more powerful force free on the island.

first,the Borhok-Kal have nothing to do with Protdermis like GregF said.
second,it would be a a real coinsedense if the Bohrok-Kal would awake after the Toa defeated the Bahrag

no because the figures looked like toa or toa nuva

yeah, I realized I while ago that those shapes couldn't be the kal or the rahkshi, even, but it could still happen. and greg f didn't say that the toa didn't have anything to do with the protodermus, he said they hdn't been changed by protodermus! they still could have hidden in the protodermus.

If you look closely, the ridges behind Tahu Nuva are the Top of Pohatu Nuva's mask.
