Unlikely because they remove and change masks at will.  Check out the power pack mini cd to see some of the Toa putting their Kanohi on.  Just a thought.

Moving to Theories...

This might sound strange   , but bare with me. If the Krana are the Bohrok's brains (in essence) does anyone elso think the masks could act as a collective mind (like the Borg off Star Trek) and seize Mata Nui for themselves?

i think that is a cool theory, but unlikely. i dont know about it, but its a good idea.

The masks just supply the power, so the toa can move, think, and use their elemental powers without them.  The only mask capible of a group mind phenominon is the komau, as it allows the wearer to control and read poeple's minds.

I would say that the Krana are a collective like the borg and the masks as an induvidual.

this is an interesting theory but it is highly unlikely

The Krana are linked together by the Bahrag but the Kanohi do not have any bond with eachother whatsoever

I think Kanohi bond with each other to a degree...

Lewa was the first to get his 'Golden Kanohi' which obviously channels all of the powers gathered from the various masks collected by the Toa.  The masks either merged together, or their powers were absorbed by the Golden Kanohi...

Or did I read you wrong?
