First of all, kopoka is the first to be shown in the comics and is the first to lose his powers from the bohrok kal....... Kinda makes you think...

When I saw the Bionicle add in the mini-catalog in February, 2001, I thought ONUA would be the leader, because he had the largest picture.
But yeah, I wondered about that too. I think Kopaka SHOULD be the leader, and therefore, I was overjoyed to see him the star of the first comic! But he seems to be second in command. I mean, it was down to him and Tahu Nuva in the battle in #9, right? I have more, but I can't post it at this time. Maybe later.

From a story point of view, Kopaka would be best fit for that role, as he is the most complicated and enigmatic of all Toa.
Unfortunately (for some here at BZP), Tahu fits best as main character from the toy/commercial point of view. Red sells, always has, always will.

But Kopaka strikes more of a hero image than Tahu... Fire = ######/bad. White = Light/good.

I think Kopaka is better qualified to be the leader than Tahu, but Gali ought to be in charge. Actually, there is no leader, not even Tahu (although he is prominent in group pics and tends to be obeyed). The Toa work together as equals. Sometimes one takes the lead, sometimes another.

It's usually Tahu to take command. I don't think I've ever seen another Toa, and if I did, it would be once or twice.

It doesn't make sense there is only 1 female Toa...
So Wairuha is genderless...
On-Topic: Greg wrote the comics that way because Kopaka is his favorite Toa. If he could confirm that (I heard it in the interview back in March) that would be good. (And the question would be resolved)

That's right! I saw that answer. He is his favorite Toa! But LEGO probably made him make Tahu the leader.

Kopaka should be the leader, since he is the character most portrayed in the comics.
He also has the most believable personality.

I think Kopaka should be the leader bacuase HE unlocked the mystery of the krana. Also when the six Toa were discending into Kini-Nui Kopaka was the one that made them work together along with Tahu. He's also the wisest and 2-nd best fighter Toa!(sorry to Tahu's fans but he maybe is the best fighter but he shure is a little dumb...)Kopaka saved the Toa from the lava in the Bahrags nest, he alone defeated Muaka (or it was Kane-Ra?) and he's the COOLEST Toa!!!
So why isn't he the Leader???

i suppose that he could be the main star of the comics but not of the storyline...if that makes any sense

Being bitter towards Pohatu gave him an intersting character in the first comic!
And even though Kopaka is good with Valor and Wisdom, I have to say that Gali is the wisest of the Toa.

There's an official topic on this, too. Come on, guys, it's only a few pages back. It's called, "Who is the Leader".
