Okay: The Kal want the symbols to take the Toa's powers away. This does that, because they got their powers in the Bahrag prison. Okay, so that part didn't make much sense, but listen to this:
If the symbols are put together, they unleash the cube, to free the Bahrag and cause them to rule once again! The Kal were probably Failsafe Devices just in case the removing of obstacles failed!

I just wanted to post same thing But remember what one Kal said : ,,We will win where Rahi and Bohrok Swarms losed'' or something like this. So there are two answers to this :
1.: They ment to destroy toa
2.: Rahi, Bohrok and Kal have same purpose.

Hey, I thought of the same thing! It's a great theory. Greg said that the Nuva Cube was actually a lock on the Bahrag's cage. So ... if the Kal can capture all six sides of the cube, and reconstruct it, it'll unlock the Bahrag's prison. Sounds right to me.

well the toa used krana as a key so why not a cube.

Sounds like a pretty good theory, but why would the Kal want to resurrect the Bahrag when they have things to themselves and GregF said that the Bahrag would only be seen again if they escape. But then again maybe the Kal would want the Bahrag back......

okay:
the kal and the swarms have nothing to do with each other, and the rahi have an ENTIRELY different meaning/purpose than the kal/bohrok ALTOGETHER.
secndly: the kal are more powerful than the bahrag, so they could easily controll the swarms; the toa olda whooped them and now the nuva are putting upa fight with the MORE powerful toa NUVA and actually freaking winning...
thirdly:i have no idea why the kal want to use the cube, and i have no idea why the symbols controll their elemental powers, because the turaga had no idea the toa would become nuva
