i think that matoran celebrate xmas just in a different way (xmas is the Christian festival of light so the matoran might celebrate the light of mata nui?) and they still give prezzies to each other!excl.gif and they have a big party near the kini-nui with all the matoran, turaga and toa if they want to come! xmas.gif

post your thoughts! biggrin.gif xmas.gif howdy.gif
Kahu Rider 13
No. They're not Christian, so they probably won't celebrate Christmas. However, they will probably have similar annual celebrations for the defeats of the Makuta and the Bahrag. Or the coming of the Toa? That would be something to celebrate, wouldn't it? Perhaps they'll have a festival every year for Takua's Day(they day he becomes the Toa of Light)?

They might celebrate something but Im not sure that winter would have any meaning to a place with only one environment per village/area. The only holiday I can think of that they would celebrate is the arival of the toa.

No, because Mata Nui was billions of years before Jesus.
Tufi Piyufi
*looks on calendar* Ah, here it is. July 18: The Day of Mata Nui's Descent. Single largest holiday on Mata Nui.

But, in all honesty, I sincerely doubt that they'd celebrate Christmas, unless something came to influence them otherwise. They'd probably have a holiday that's equivilant to X-mas in sheer amount of people who celebrate it.

They celebrate every time the bad guy gets defeated, so there's no point in having Xmas over there because they get a party every few months. laugh.gif

Well then again they might, and sorry to burst you ppl's bubble, but Xmas came from an old Pagan holiday celebrating the winter solstice, which used to fall on December 25, so maybey they do celebrate xmas but more like neo pagans would.

And greenacrea PLEASE don't post that many times in a row!

If you want my other opinion, this topic should be closed because it's getting on a religious tangent and we arern't supposed to be talking religion here.

If I remember this correctly, it was fused with a Roman traditional feast ('dies solis' or something like that), while most other catholic feasts are intertwined with Celtic tradition.
And I agree with Tufi Piyufi, it's the first thing I thought of as well.

toa nuva, that's off topic. X-mas..hmm..I'm not sure, but it would be pretty chaotic if it was snowing in ta-koro!

vakama: the lava! it's cooling down!

kapura: NOO! not the lava!*licks hot lava* AAAUUUGGG!

*snowflake lands in jalas eye*jala: my eyes! attack, army! *everyone starts throwing disks at the snow*

guard: there are too many!

kopeke: peace, my brothers. I bring the gift of long johns.

guard#2: theres a giant one!*tackles kopeke*(actually, kopeke is my second fav. ko-koronan) rolleyes.gif

any way, they probably celebrate xmas, but it has a different name("CAUSE IF THEY DIDN"T angry.gif laugh.gif )
Golden Krana
I dont think they do.Like Takua11 said,Mati-Nui was made in a time before time.Jeuses was born at the beggining of time so I dont think they celebrate X-mas.
Running Riot
They most Likely do not.Just as they dont celebrate Ramadan, 4th of July and Hanakuh
SwampFox
LEGO wouldn't bring religous ideas into official sets unless it wasn't part of a major series. they want to market to everybody.
Yukums
They celebrate yuk*your mom*yuk
Vanilla Coke
Maybe mata-nui sent his only son down to the island or something...........
But still, like others have said, this was way way way way way way way way way way before Jesus ever came to earth. And unless you reliy on bink's winning web site (which is seriously cool), it never even happned on earth, so I don't think that they celibrate christmas, or haunica, or kwanza, or winter soclstis, or hoary marmot day, or any of that other stuff.

these topics always crack me up. does it really matter?

they're toys! the dont have REAL feelings, religion, brains, they only have what lego gives them. lego would not give them religion, cuz theyre toys!

let me ask you this, do matoran celebrate chanukkah?

What I get from this is sorta a hypothetical "if they did really exist".
any way, I really don't think they would because that would mean LEGO would be favoring Christians and Christianity and a whole lotta people would get upset, so, but I do think they celebrate annual events like someone already said xmas.gif

I am sure they would celebrate something, but they aren't Christian and therefore wouldn't celebrate Easter or xmas.gif . They dont even have Turkeys on Mata-Nui so Thanksgiving is outta the question, and if they don't even know where America is there's no 4th July. The more important events to them may be clebrated annually though-for example, in Le-Koro they may celebrate "Defeat of the Rama Day" or something like that. The coming of the toa is the other big event they may celebrate, but they are constantly under attack (rahi, makuta, bohrok, bohrok kal, rahkshi) so they wouldn't have too much time to do so.
ExoOnuaNuva
They wouldn't celebrate Christmas, they'd celebrate their own holidays. And they wouldn't celebrate Halloween, Easter, or any other holidays. Though it is possible that they would have their own version of April Fools Day...... tongue.gif
Inuyasha
No, they don't celebrate Xmas. I don't even think they have a religion. They might celebrate the day that Mata-Nui came to the island, but I doubt it's anything near December. Xmas is a religious holiday, so I boubt it.
