I originally thought of them as "tools"
But then as I watched the movies and relaized what the Bohrok did with them...they officially became "weapons"
Also..."hands" isn't a good name for them...as with the exception of Pahrak..no Bohrok really has something that could actually function as a hand.
look at the clip after the storm on www.boinicle.com the pahrok use their "hands" like a energy gun but check the clips before it to try the 2 clips before to

moving to theories..
but a good rule is, if they are on the end of your arms - they are hands.

i think that they are shields!
Fire as hands isn't nice, i think!!

I believe that they function as both hands and shields. This is obvious in the Bohrok episodes on Bionicle.com.

I think they are more like hammers that act like magnets when Bohrok need to carry things.(like that Pahrak with the boulder)

Jan 1 2003, 03:08 PM
Both,I guess?
They don't really have hand and the 'shields' are attached to the arms so .....there kinda both.

Jan 1 2003, 04:13 PM
They can be used as both, although the hand function would be more like clasping things between them, due to the lack of thumbs, opposable or not. The Nuhvok and Pahrak handtools are the most 'hand-like', but it is clear that the main function of the others is a tool function, like Gahlok's for swimming. Others are more weapons than tools of course.
Conclusion: More tool/weapon (Lego terminology) than actual hands or shields.

I agree. The "hands" are more weapons than shields.

they're weapons!!! If you look in comic #2 of the bohrok saga the tahnok use the "hands" to burn into the rock

On BIONICLE.com it says they are shields.
Hope that helps!

I think this is one where you have to let your own imagination tell you.
They could be shields... they could be regular hands... they could be both (my personal belief). Even humans can use their hands as shields... it's only a question of how effective they would be.

I think they act as both, from wehat we have seen in the Post-MNOLG movies as well as common sense. Not many creatures could be that devestating without some kind of hand, yet they have been proven quite useful in terms of weaponry. I guess it is a matter of opinion.

I personally always called them "Hand Sheilds". Remember, in the Bohrok mini comic the Tahnok used them to claim Tahu's Gold Hau as a prize, but in the Desktop Bohrok lego program, they use them to shoot fire. So, it is really

Unless the boulder had some sort of Iron ore aty its core, the Pahrak couldn't create a magnetic attraction between itself and the boulder.

Some, like Tahnok's, are weapons, and some, like Nuhvok's, are shields. That's my theory, anyway. Oh, dear, I've got the hiccups!

Edit:Actually, I think they're hands, too. How else would the Pahrak lift up the canoe in the "After the Storm update?

Jan 2 2003, 02:26 PM
Lift the
canoe? What canoe?
I do think they are weapons/tools, and the hip-joints are their hands.
Wouldn't it be nice if LEGO released different color bohrok shields? (They can be that, too.) Example: 2 green nuvhok hands + ( neat things they might put in too.) in boxes priced 3.00, like mask packs.
That would allow bohrok claw ''glinching'', ha ha ha!

Well...
They were probably originaly designed for weapons.
But they probably could use them as shields. Especially Nuhvok & Pahrak...

well, i think they can be used for ..... anything! but i think they can be used mosed as hands, shields and weapons.
we all know why there weapons, but there sheilds becuase all they have to do is cover their eyes and the toa cant eject their krana. i think their hands because in the mini comic that comes with the bohrok, it a tahnok with tahus gold mask. everyone who has posted has given me these ideas so i give credit to you all. keep posting!

they can b used as watever u want them 2 b used as i would think it would b a weapon

Jan 2 2003, 05:26 PM
I believe that they are weapons that are held by the Bohroks' hands (those black pieces). I'm led to believe that by a picture in Comic 6 (US), first page, bottom. There's Kopaka looking at a krana, now look at the Kranaless Kohrak in the lower right hand corner. It has dropped it's saw weapon, probably because the Krana is no longer telling the Kohrak to hold/use it.

i think they're hands shaped like shileds that are able to call upon elemental powers to use as attacks so in a way, they're hands, shields, and weapons
TheBadAceToa
Jan 2 2003, 08:26 PM
i say they're all. in the update, the pahrak used them as hands. by logic, they're also tool to use their element powers. basicly a shield is a tool

They are most definitely shields. The Toa have hip joint hands, so I'm assuming the Bohrok do too, but I could be wrong.
