hmmm... I get what you are saying.... Maybe it's part of the storyline? Or maybe lego couldn't get the new sets to work with the Matoran, so they had to modify them?

Jan 2 2003, 07:08 PM
Actually...the new Tohunga have Bohrok arms...and modified legs (still Tohunga feet though)
They have Toa hip joints for hands and shoulders though.
I personally think it's an interesting move...though I'd like to see how LEGO writes that into the story (if they do at all)
King Luvak
Jan 2 2003, 07:13 PM
One looks like Jala and one looks like Takua. They are just different arms so they have better moving ability.

Yeah, I'd like to see how they do that!
But maybe, they're just the 3 Matorans, the ones that go on the Quest for the MOL. Then someting happened to them....Maybe...

Jan 2 2003, 10:31 PM
I think the first one is Jala, but not the blue and orange one. I think he (or she) is a new Matoran, one that we havent ever seen before. They certainly have a very unique design...I don't think they are meant to be anything like the promotional tohunga that came out at Macca's.

Looks like jala nuva. A more powerful version of jala. Cool--too bad he doesn't have a new mask though.

Man,they sure have evolovled fast! What did they do,fall in the Protodermis?

Anyway I think its just LEGO modified them to fit the movie better, like the Matoran are SMALL!!So maybe they just made em bigger,*GASP*!!Maybe the Matoran packs are like that!!Highly possible but maybe...

Jan 3 2003, 06:30 AM
Oh, I hope that Lego sticks with the McToran design... After all, it's been in the comics, updates, MNOLG, BfMN, Bios, McDonalds, even Nuparu in the Boxor is like it! How are they going to put these changes into the story? Imagine...
After the Toa-Nuva rise from the Bahrag's hive, the Matoran find new body elements scattered on the beach...
God, I hope not. Why do they have to do a film? To do it, they have to edit everyone's limbs and everything! So it messes up the story. If it was just for the film it would be alright, but they are reflecting it in the toys aswell.
And that proberbly is meant to be Takua, although he has blue legs.

I agree entirely, Makuta Nuva. If they were, I probably wouldn't buy them. But they probably won't be, as they are scheduled to be released before the MoL.
We don't know that the thing riding the Gukko Bird is Jala. In fact, we don't even know that they're Matoran, and I'd be really upset if that was Jala, unless they show the origin of this "Matoran Nuva" thing. Ding! Do we know whether these are Jaller and Hewkii? They could be, and they could be entirely new characters!
Bohrok Awakener
Jan 3 2003, 07:31 AM
Good point, Kahu Rder 13! They could be, as rememeber, the list of Matoran in the MoL is:
Takua
Hahli
Jaller
Hewki
The Koli Commentator (Proberbly)
There might be a few more, but these definately could be Jaller and Hewki. And... hang on, the Takua one might be Jaller, because it's a cross between Jala & Hahli, except it has a Pakari! Jala+Hahli=Jaller? Or Jaller is Jala's big brother or something...

i welcome the new matoran design with open arms
the new design will definatly allow more articulation and playability! And old matoran will be even more collectable (if the rerelease of the matoran are in this form.[it would definatly be more worth it's price]).
btw i like Kahu Rider 13's theirore

One question, how do we know that aren't just Proto-types?

I like the new Matoran design.
Nova's Muse: Now that the shock has worn off! If I may recall, you were highly vocal when you saw the pics...you sounded like a cross between Nuju and a Winnavegas casino!
Nova Nuhvok: CHKT! (shut up!)
Continuing on...yes I like the new design. I am a big fan of posing the figures I have...and the Matoran can't do much of anything. No bendable parts, and the only thing I can do right now is make them run (take one of their feet and put in one of the three holes on their body) make them sit (take two va connectors and friction pegs) and give them colored eyes (snap a Harry Potter wand in two and set a toa/turaga head on that..)
Sure, they could have been a little bit better created, but I'm quite pleased that we'll finally have poseable Matoran at last!
And as for the movie Bohrok Awakener...I'm thinking it'll be ten times better watching that than another movie like 'The Wild Thornberries...' yick!

I BET IT GOES LIKE THIS.....
1. tohunga
2. (the so called) tohunga-nuva
3. turaga
4. (probaly an up-coming) turaga-nuva
5. toa
6. toa-nuva
EACH DIPPED IN PROTODERMIS TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL
THEN THE BOHROK.....
1.bohrok-va
2.bohrok
3.bohrok-kal
4.bahrag

They might just be prototypes, that could be why Takua's legs are the wrong color.
I like the fact that they have the matoran weapons.
Off Topic: was the matoran form the power pack built the same way as the mcdonalds tohunga?
I only saw the set once, and i didn't have the $15 to get it
Yes he was... This represents an entirely new design for Bionicle.
