No, they are't disappear. Just we don't see them in the updates.

The tamed Rahi now served the Matoran, and the others live far away from Koros.(Too sad we have no chance to see them... Hope we can see them in the brand new MNOLG2)

Maybe since makuta was gone they were no longer infected.

they've become part of the eco system in island wildlife on the move it says some animals have become prey for rahi

Yes, we will have MNOLG2 at April. And they said that the game is better than the previos one.

I think they're now tame as ang said. I think I heard that the Le-koronans now ride rama as well as kahu's, (and whatever else it was) but I can't remember where I heard this.

We are only shown important things throught the updates.
Takua is a version of a reporter, he only reports hot need to know news. I mean, if you were a matorian, and there were kal about, wouldent you want to know that their there, and what they are doing than where the majority of the tarakarva are? I know I would. They are there, just not important to the storyline, so not in the storyline.

The Rahi also help the Matoran fight the Bohrok swarms.(Bionicle.com says so)

Let's take a new turn to this, what would happen if the rahi were affected by not the krana, but the krana kal?!

Hey, this topic isn't all that bad, and it shouldn't be closed.
In one of the updates on Bionicle.com, it said the Rahi are preying on other animals. The Rahi are other animals, but they were so powerful makuta desided to make them his servants, and gave them infected masks. Maybe they still kept their masks when Makuta was defeated, and when Makuta returns, they may become evil again, though they won't be neary as dangerous anymore. I thought when makuta was released, they'd make more Rahi. Thank goodness they didn't (I have a low budget, and can't even afford all the Bohrok Kal!!!)
